Barnstar award

[edit]
The Original Barnstar
I hereby award you for writing two excellent and informative articles – Cyril Rootham and Douglas Moore – that I came across purely by chance. Two men I hadn't heard of before, I now want to know more. –MDCollins (talk) 22:35, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If I have one piece of constructive criticism, it is the need to cite where you got the material from. A reference section is crucial to a good article, coupled with some external links (if you have any); it provides people (i.e. me) to seek out more information on the subjects. Having said that, I enjoyed reading what material was there, it is excellently written. Thank you –MDCollins (talk) 22:35, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free use disputed for Image:Jean Francaix.jpg

[edit]
Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Jean Francaix.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 09:22, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The image hasn't been deleted yet, but it is now fair game for the first admin that comes along. Also, it's tagged as an album cover, but doesn't look like one (at least at first glance). Could you please add a note to the image page and say where it's from, why it's not taking away from anyone's commercial use (ie that it's not from a picture library), and why it isn't replaceable with a free image. Thanks. Otherwise the image police will come in the night sometime soon, and take it away. Jheald 18:00, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Farm Journal

[edit]

The article Farm Journal has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

unsourced article on apparently non-notable piece of music

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Crusio (talk) 08:28, 26 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Cyril B Rootham.jpg

[edit]
File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Cyril B Rootham.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

I refer to the page commons:File:Cyril B Rootham.jpg, the image was uploaded 2 times under different authorship claims. I merged both uploads to this one file description page on Wikimedia Commons. --Martin H. (talk) 17:33, 24 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

As the grandson of Cyril Rootham, I would really like to thank Gruesome Pet for creating the original article back in 2006. But I also have an apology to offer. Today I received a copy of a doctoral dissertation about Cyril Rootham's Op.51 "For the Fallen", and in this dissertation I am named as the author of the Cyril Rootham Wikipedia entry - which I clearly am not (nor ever claimed to be). In all other respects, the dissertation is really interesting, so I will be making it available on the rootham.org website. Of course I will accompany this with a disclaimer making it clear that I didn't author the original Wikipedia article. So I hope that you will accept this apology, and accept my thanks. And incidentally, I am happy to offer permission to use photographs of Cyril Rootham as explained on the Photos page of the rootham.org website. Dan rootham (talk) 00:23, 20 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Gruesome Pet! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 7 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

  1. Daniel Sjölin - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
