Moving pages

[edit]

When you move a page, use Move function. You can see it in the top of the page. You can read more about it in Moving a page guide. The Move function is the only way to move the article edit history along the page. You can't do it by simply cutting and pasting text into a new location. The edit history is left in the old article location, where it is hard to find. But we must know the edit history, because Wikipedia's GFDL licence requires attribution, which means acknowledging the authors of the articles. So a cut and a paste move is actually a copyright infringement.

Also, you should familiarize yourself with Wikipedia:Naming conventions. The title that you gave for the Stars On 33 (Aim) article is against the guidelines. I made the page a redirect to the correct title. I moved the disambiguation page to the correct album article title, and then reverted the album article. (The disambiguation page had the essential edit history because you left it there when you cut and pasted the text elsewhere.) I created a more illustrating disambiguation page, so I have solved this problem. The situation isn't always as fortunate, sometimes people have to ask an administrator to solve the problem.

If you can't move a page with Move function, ask an administrator to move it at Wikipedia:Requested moves. -Hapsiainen 23:25, 25 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Late Night Tales

[edit]

Hi Gram123,

good work on the Late Night Tales albums. I'd always use categories for large series of such items, and when there are more DJ-Kicks articles they will get one too. A suggestion: Maybe you should add a album infobox to your album stubs? You don't have to fill out all the blanks in them, but in my opinion, an album article with a complete infobox is nearly past the stub stage already. I've added one to DJ-Kicks: Nightmares on Wax now, you can see how it's done there - more information is at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Albums#Table. Anyway, good work - and keep it up! -- grm_wnr Esc 21:51, 30 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Aim albums is already done right (except that all categories should have supercategories, which I've already added). You just have to put "" into the article text, save, then click the red link in the categories bar and create the category page (with supercategories - the Grand Central one would get Category:Albums by record label). After that it should work. A tip: When linking to a category, use a colon before the Category name, like this: ":Category:Grand Central Records albums", which creates Category:Grand Central Records albums. Without the colon, you just put the page into the category, and the link isn't displayed. I hope that helps - I have to go to bed now and can't categorize the pages myself, but if there are still problems I can help you tomorrow. -- grm_wnr Esc 00:21, 31 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

List of independent record labels

[edit]

Hi Gram123, I see you have been adding countries to some labels in the list of independent record labels. That's nice, but wouldn't it be better if all lists of record labels are done in the same way? Extra information in the list when the article is not created yet (eg website, country, ...) but once the article is started there is no need anymore for this in the list. Please check also List of record labels, List of independent UK record labels, List of electronic music record labels, List of jungle and drum n bass record labels who all use this method (most of the time). warpozio 19:58, 4 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I couldn't help but notice (Edit Wars, grrr...) that you resumed doing some revamp work on the Ran page. I'm getting another page ready for a Featured Article nomination (Battle of Badr) but afterwards I was going to turn my attention back to Ran, now that I have the Criterion Edition and Stephen Prince's "The Warrior's Camera". Let me know if you're interested in collaborating. (This probably wouldn't be for another week or so) Palm_Dogg 11:00, 26 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

 • As you may guess from my User page, I tend to primarily edit entertainment articles that I'm interested in. Ran is in my watchlist, as I'd added the DVD cover pic back in August, not long after I'd bought and watched the film. However, I've only seen it once (too many DVDs to watch) and the recent revamping was done in repsonse to seeing the peerreview template, and the to assist with the systematic removal of unnecessary date links (try doing a whatlinkshere to a date article!). As such, I don't know how much help I'd be, but I'll certainly keep an eye on proceedings and provide some input if I can. Gram 11:20, 26 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

East Asian Cinema

[edit]

I notaced that the old eastern cinema article has been narrowed down into East Asian cinema - but isnt this a kinda unfair exclusion? Most people would consider India to be part of the east asian cultural block, especially given the closeness of South East Asian culture and film to Indian. Indian film, especially non-Bollywood industries, which produce regional language and art cinema, clearly support this view. The west asian cinema and culture starts with Iran - India should be included, or else, where exactly would you classify Indian cinema when it quite obiously isnt western? I strongly reccomend either including India in the east asian cinema article, or changing the entire thing back to eastern cinema - because the move seems to be one purely directed at excluding India, rather than one aimed at raising awareness. I would be glad to write that section if you wish. Vastu 05:23, 14 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My intention was to write an article which drew together the film industries of China, Hong Kong, Japan and South Korea, these being my area of interest, and the countries with the largest film industries in what I would know (possibly due to an Anglo-centric view) as "Eastern cinema" or "Far Eastern cinema" or "Oriental cinema". It was pointed out to me that Eastern cinema is a bit of a vague title, and to be geographically accurate, East Asia is a more appropriate term. I have since learned a little about the film industries of neighbouring countries (which would still fall geographically into East Asia), so I created the article and template to be inclusive of these areas.
I understand your gripe - what I meant by "Eastern cinema" is more correctly expressed and understood using the term "East Asian cinema". The move was not done to exclude anywhere, but to clarify my original intention.
I disagee that India should be included within this article, because I don't believe it is geographically accurate to do so. I would suggest that it is absolutely appropriate to have an "Indian cinema" article (actually Cinema of India already exists) and if you so wish, a relevant regional cinema article. Looking at the articles for East Asia and South Asia, it is clear that India falls into the latter, not the former, so your regional article would be South Asian cinema and should therefore contain summary info about the cinema of:
 • Bangladesh
 • Bhutan
 • India
 • Maldives
 • Nepal
 • Pakistan
 • Sri Lanka
and perhaps more...
Were a South Asian cinema article to exist, you could adopt the same template format I did (I originally copied it from European cinema). I would be more than happy to include references to a South Asian cinema article within this article.
Gram 14:23, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
My point is perhaps a very tenuous one - but basically, what im trying to say is the geographical boundry is purely a man-made construct - for example, Thailand, a heavily Indicised culture, is part of South East Asia - thus it is both East Asian and South Asian in terms of culture and geography - yet nobody would consider defining Thailand in the same catagory as South Asia - an article on South Asian cinema would not include Thailand, Indonesia, or another South-East Asian country, yet your article on East Asian cinema does include those countries. The East Asian name of the article is perhaps well defined - but isnt informative, because of this exclusionary paradox - my point is that it is eaither better to define eastern cinema in different terms (I would actually call it eastern cinema or oriental cienma and include South Asia), or be even more strict in the East Asian definition by removing countries of South-East Asia. India is not a middle eastern country, yet is doomed to be thought of as one, despite the fact that South-East Asia bears more cultural commonality with India than with East Asia, because modern racial profiling, to put it bluntly, classifys India on the basis of the superficial appearance of Indians - non "Mongoloid" as some old anthropologists would put it. Yet what is a human? We are made of our minds not our bodies - thus when classifying Eastern cinema, should India not be amongst its other Eastern peers? A counter argument might be that Indian cinema is stylistically different - yet no more stylistically different than Thai cinema from Japanese cinema. I should point out that above your compared the wiki article on East Asia and South Asia - well those very articles illustrate the problem, since the East Asian one infact dosent include Thai and Malay lands.. Vastu 19:27, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well, when I started this article I asked for assistance in several places, and little was forthcoming, so I carried on in my own vein (albeit with an admittedly limited geographical knowledge). As mentioned, the key film industries in my intended focus were those of China, Hong Kong, Japan and South Korea, as films from these countries are becoming significantly more successful in the West. I was able to add Taiwan as it too had a cinema article. I couldn't find any Cinema of Mongolia, Cinema of Vietnam or Cinema of Macau articles.
Some of the info I garnered was from the Far East article, an article, which in its opening sentence says "an inexact term often used for East Asia and Southeast Asia combined". As this article was initially called Eastern cinema I felt this to be the relevant starting point, but since moving the article "East Asian cinema" to be more geographically accurate, I've perhaps been remiss in leaving in countries that are technically in Southeast Asia - Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia (someone else added Philippines).
So the solution I would propose is to be, as you say, more strict with the definition. To remain as geographically accurate as possible we should split this article into "East Asian cinema" and "Southeast Asian cinema". I stand by my assertion that "Cinema of India" belongs in a "South Asian cinema" article. And again, there is nothing wrong with these articles referencing one another.
Geographical boundaries may well be man-made, but they are also universally recognisable. If anyone was willing to do the work, I would argue that a continental "parent" article be written too, entitled "Asian cinema", which could draw together East Asian cinema, Southeast Asian cinema, South Asian cinema and beyond.
And one final point - I created an article entitled Asian cinema purely as a redirect to this article. I concede that this is inaccurate, but did so because in my experience, Americans say Asian when they mean East Asian (wheras Brits are more likely to say Oriental). Similarly, Brits often say Asian when they mean South Asian. If proper articles for Asian cinema, South Asian cinema and Southeast Asian cinema were written, this issue would be resolved and the articles would have more educational value.
Gram 23:28, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Right, I've gone ahead and created a basic Southeast Asian cinema article and template, and have split the East Asian cinema article and template as appropriate. I had a little trouble with the templates, which hopefully someone will assist with (think I may have created them twice). I've also stopped the Asian cinema article from being a redirect to East Asian cinema, making a very basic stub. I've made reference in each of these 3 articles to South Asian cinema Gram 00:22, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That seems to be the best solution then - thanks for changing it - I will check the new articles out later, and try to help with their content if I can. Vastu 06:53, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

World cinema navigation template

[edit]

Hi Gram. There's discussion going on here, at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Films#New Cinema navigation box, about a box that would go at the bottom of world cinema articles like the ones you started for South American cinema, Asian cinema, etc. There's some confusion and concern about some things, like maybe Cuba and Puerto Rico being better grouped under a Latin Americam cinema article and Turkey's presence in the middle east. Maybe you could add your voice to the proceedings? What do you think? Take care. — WiseKwai 17:59, 18 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

South to Latin America ?

[edit]

Hi Gram123, thanks for giving opinion on the world navigation. I hope you approve of the template as it mentions sub-regions without splitting vertically. Under 800x600 resolution it really hurt. One thing is the South American cinema. Can it become Latin America to include all countries from Mexico down. The merge to "Americas" is maybe not the best, but given the few of countries of N.America, it makes the template smaller. I've started a section for such issues in Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Films#Notes on "Cinema of (Country)" series and would appreciate if you post your opinion there. Thanks. Middle Eastern cinema

[edit]

Hi Gram, there is plenty of sourced evidence that cinema of Iran/Persia doesn't fall under Middle Eastern cinema. Look in my tak page, if you like, for links to sites and google search results about the issue and if you like take a look about Egypt etc. I am trying to come up with some rearrangments, if possible, so I would be glad to have your opinion on all this. I know we've been through all this in WP Films before, but even so. Hoverfish Talk 23:13, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm quite with you in that since we are doing this by geographic boundaries, we should keep it regional. There is no big deal subdividing India to cultural/language zones, like it's no big deal to divide Africa into Arab/non-Arab (or maybe North to indicate Arab countries) for cultural reasons. But when it comes to Asia, I am all for going exclusively by regions. To avoid the Middle East dillema (Turkey is also in this), although a very well-known term, there is the widely acceptable alternative term "Western Asia", which takes in all Middle East (Arab and non-Arab), Turkey and as deep as Iraq (if they had any cinema before "liberation"). But even if we let Middle East as it is (with Turkey in it), Iran/Persia should go to another zone, and since we don't use the generic "Asian cinema" before subdividing, we could place it quite acceptably in South Asian Cinema. Iran, Afganistan and Pakistan are regionally together and they can all be said to be South Asia. Hoverfish Talk 18:07, 13 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I noticed that one of the above templates seems to be redundant. Since you worked on both of them, I think you might have a better idea which one. Greetings, Yaan 19:53, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

 • Thanks for pointing that out. I did a special:whatlinkshere/ on both templates - the former had about 12 links, and the latter only 2. Easiest thing was to amend the links of the 2, so the capitalised "Template:East Asian Cinema" can now be deleted. I had a quick look at some of the other similar templates, and they're not standardised (either in capitalisation or in the actual format of the templates), which would probably be a worthwhile task. I'll note it at Films WikiProject and see if we can get agreed format. Gram123 12:12, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A friendly reminder on British spelling

[edit]

Hello, I noticed that you've changed all "rigour" into "rigor" in editing the Jackie Chan article. Please note that the former spelling is the British spelling version, and is recommended since the subject is from Hong Kong, which uses British English. (Hence the spelling should be consistently British)--Kylohk 13:26, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

 • Hi Kylohk. I'm British myself. The English spelling of "rigour" does indeed have a "u" in it, but we drop the "u" in "rigorous" and "rigorously". I was sure I was right, but then you undid the edit, so this time I spell-checked with a UK English dictionary and also searched Dictionary.com for "rigourously" (no entries). So I'm afraid it's your spelling at fault this time! Keep up the good work. Gram123 13:38, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi, one of the articles I watch, Taegukgi (film), was recently edited by you here, in order to provide links to film articles. I disagree with this change, mostly the second link, because it is not intuitive.

Your edit was to change:

"a 2004 South Korean war film directed..."

to

"a 2004 South Korean war film directed...."

I do not think the words "South Korea(n)" should link to Cinema of South Korea, even though that is the specific aspect of SK we are talking about. It is not logical to have this poorly written sentence as a lead, because without mousing-over, can you guess where they lead?

Lee Myung-bak is the 2008 South Korean President...

Is it 2008 in general or 2008 in Korea? Does "South Korea" link to Government of SK or the nation page for SK? Does President lead to President of SK or President? That sentence follows the same logic as yours. Links have to leave absolutely zero room for doubt where they lead, otherwise it confuses and frustrates the reader. Consider Forrest Gump, which starts off like this:

Forrest Gump is a [irrelevant] based on the 1986 novel of the same name by Winston Groom and the name of the title character of both.

This is an absurd sentence! Besides the stylistic horror of using "1986 novel of the same name" as the link text, it hides the link and isn't obvious. The character link is even worse. Although Forrest Gump (character) is the title character, why don't the words "title character" link to title character (Title role) or even eponym (eponymous)? (Also, it's badly written: the book was named after the character, and the film after the book, but transitive properties are redundant in prose: A is named after B and C, and C is the name of A and B)

Links that say South Korea(n) should universally go to South Korea. The best solution I can think of is to link like this: "it is South Korean film" but we lose the "war film" link, and that might produce heckling from another camp. If it is a guideline on the Film Project, let me know and I will bring my concerns there. ALTON .ıl 22:50, 4 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry, I disagree with you. I've been making edits to this article since late 2006. Why on earth would I vandalise it? I understand that you want to see concrete information that a film exists before it can appear in the filmography. However:
 1. Rotten Tomatoes is a valid source and is used in many Wiki articles. The article also seemingly contains a direct quote from Jackie Chan himself.
 2. IMDb is far from perfect - it is flawed and incomplete - I have submitted many corrections myself to IMDb, and it has particular failings when it comes to foreign language films. IMDb can also be quite slow in adding pages for films that have already been announced in other countries. Just because a film is not listed on IMDb, does not mean it doesn't exist!
Please note:
I did not vandalise the article in any way. When you made the original edit to remove Armour of God 3, you messed up the table formatting and a previous editor had lost the article's references. I reinstated the references and fixed the table. I also added back in the films you removed, because you did not provide a valid reason for removal, you simply said "no such film called Armour of God". Anyone can make such a groundless statement, and it appeared to be contrary to the information I had read elsewhere.
To avoid any confrontation / edit-warring nonsense, I have now amended the article, adding a seperate table for films that have been mentioned elsewhere, but are not yet confirmed by IMDb or other English language sites as definitely being in production. This includes cited sources for the information, and I will continue to look for appropriate sources. Hopefully, as these films go into production they can be moved from the "Unconfirmed" table and into the main filmography table.

IMDB stores every single movie. That is why it is called the "Internet Movie Database".(Planecrash111 (talk) 22:50, 16 June 2008 (UTC))[reply]

Sorry to disagree again, but IMDb does not contain "every single movie". Indeed, how could it?
There's no denying that it is a huge database, but there are many films that are not listed on there and some of the information that is included is inaccurate, particularly, as I said earlier, with foreign language film titles. For example, there are a huge number of films listed on the equivalent Hong Kong website (HKMDb) that are missing from IMDb.
If you look on IMDb's own help pages, they say as much themselves. Here's a couple of relevant quotes:

"The information in the Internet Movie Database comes from various sources. Though we do some active gathering of information, the bulk of our information is submitted by people in the industry and visitors like you."

"Given the sheer size (over a million titles and 2.3 million names) and the nature of the information we list, which is often subject to change especially on yet-unreleased films or long-running TV series, occasional mistakes are inevitable"

"However keep in mind that our service is provided for the information of users only. It is not provided with the intention that users rely upon the information for any purposes."

Project A.

[edit]

I guess I can try and use that kind of reference although it will take some practice. Although I feel so low, I felt that while the Seinfeld article is very slow in bringing it up into ... how do I put it? Have a high grade to the article, maybe I felt Project A would be a good break away from the Seinfeld article. I'm going to need some help on that so will you give it a shot? I'll find some info on the net and the DVD and you can clean up the article? Also it will take some time so it might drain my brain as well.

There shouldn't be any harm doing this so it's worth a try. Thanks.

Good job on Armour of God. Keep up the good work. Johnnyauau2000 (talk) 01:12, 9 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Alright, let's say Lola Forner is in the movie. I only have one question. Which part of the movie in Project A would you see her? I don't know if you own the movie but if you do, you can tell me where to look. The likely nominations is a club which Jackie and Yuen Biao go to, the ship which Dick Wei intruduces himself or it could be else where on the film. Let me know if you did watch the movie. Johnnyauau2000 (talk) 05:15, 9 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. I'll give you time to watch Project A as long as you have time either off the internet or on so I'll leave it at that. Message me as soon as you can. Johnnyauau2000 (talk) 02:50, 10 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your reference link for DVD is useful. I don't know about books but it helps. I just need you to clear up what I wrote on the movie and maybe redo the DVD reference. Don't forget to take your time because there's no time limit in Wikipedia. Johnnyauau2000 (talk) 11:35, 13 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Good job with Project A again. If you have some spare time, I need your help in cleaning up the movies like Iron Monkey (1993) or City Hunter or Game of Death. I do admit that some parts are long. Very long. In the meantime, I'll see if there's anymore that I can add to Project A. If you're good at cleaning up the article than we got a deal. Take your time, keep up the good work. Johnnyauau2000 (talk) 06:01, 4 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

By the way, I'm fond of working together and so far I'm still brainstorming for ideas. If you have a great idea, go on my talk page so that the way we work feels more smoother and more relaxing rather than combating ideas. It could be any kung fu movie or stars that you want someone to work on. I do admit I have no friends so please, help me out here. Johnnyauau2000 (talk) 06:13, 4 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Police Story.

[edit]

In cantonese his character name is Ka-kui. The english dub is Kevin but when I listened in the australian DVD Hong Kong Legend movie, his name is Jackie and I felt there's going to be conflict here. What I mean is whenever I put a material with or without the references, there could be justification to stick to the original version or we won't bother putting anymore information because enough is enough and we will not tolerate changing the information.

So the best is to keep it as an option until there's nothing else left to add and find a way of putting it in. Also the reason I couldn't add it is because you called the behind the scenes "Action" and I know too well how people can be so against trivia so their is no option. I presume the english dubbing from America calls him Kevin and english dubbers from England calls him Jackie so I'm totally lost.

If you don't want to add this info than I'll understand but judging by your talk page, I just don't think your heart is there at all. I don't want to be enemies with you unless you throw me a very harsh message and all I want is some help. You won't believe me now but listen to the english dub in Police Story anyway. Let me know. By the way, I'm having trouble with the reference link in "The Protector (1985)" regarding the audio commentary of Bey Logan and still I couldn't get it right. It works on Project A but maybe I left something out.

If you have time, help me solve these issues. Johnnyauau2000 (talk) 09:36, 6 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Authur Wong.

[edit]

For Canton Godfather, Authur Wong is a great cameraman and can always do something with a nothing scene. Like Crime Story and Once Upon a Time in China, he likes to show an area Jet Li's fighting in or after Jackie fell down in the hull of a ship and he uses a handycam to go down from the top of the area. Anyway, hope this helps. Johnnyauau2000 (talk) 23:27, 11 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe you didn't watch the special features. The camera starts on an overhead shot of Tiger leaving the club then it reaches the top where Jackie takes a glance of Tiger leaving then it moves to the left on a top view shot of Anita singing in front of her dancers. What I'm describing quite clearly that Jackie uses a tracking shot to be able to capture a sequence in one go. If I'm not any more clearer than watch the movie and see a few scenes which uses a tracking shot. Johnnyauau2000 (talk) 09:48, 12 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

By the way, if this is true that Jackie first sings in "The Young Master" then sorry for putting that info in. It was stupid of me for putting that info in but I was wrong. I guess editors are far too reliable about being right and everyone else being wrong. So sorry about that. Johnnyauau2000 (talk) 10:11, 12 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Triple Dragons: Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao.

[edit]

I was thinking for a long time and although the only place where I can get info is "The Classic Revisited" in Project A DVD HKL, I'm still figuring out how do I put that info in because it will take a lot of brain power to know which films has all the triple dragons been in or appear in. Also as an option maybe a listed section which the three work together on. I want to put it in but I'm not confident it would work. I just wanna know what do you think before I draft it in. I'm beginning to feel more certain that I would make more mistakes than ever before so help me out here. Johnnyauau2000 (talk) 00:57, 13 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I do feel that this is a big ask. I suppose you already know about the history of the triple dragons and I was thinking of adding the info in like Project A, Heart of Dagon etc. but with people being smarter than me, I'm not ready to put it in but I'm leaving this as an option. I'm cooling down on the weekend so you don't have to answer me until Monday if that's ok. So if you have any ideas, any suggestions whether I should do it or not just let me know. Johnnyauau2000 (talk) 13:15, 13 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The Master (1989 film)

[edit]

I wanna start off if you seen the Jet Li film "The Master". I don't know how stressed you are at this point but you really need to pace yourself. I'm working on it quite slowly making sure the info is right and try to think of things that I can expand on. Maybe you can help me on this while I try to find a way to put in the "Triple Dragons". Maybe make a separate article or something.

Anyway for now, I'm going to input what info Bey Logan has when he's researching for the film. So help me out if you can ... as long as you might remember watching the movie. Johnnyauau2000 (talk) 02:34, 24 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You can now check on "The Master (1989 film)". Just don't forget to check the references and see if there is a need to add, change or delete material that doesn't fit with the article. I know editors used "encyclopedic" and there's no other way of saying it. I'm working on "Skinny Tiger, Fatty Dragon" due to its potential that there's room for improvement but I'm not good with cast. I don't remember what site you use to find cast but it might be helpful. So if you don't mind if you can find the cast but if you don't have the time than at least give me a like a site that has helpful info.

This will take time so pace yourself and edit when you have time. I don't know if you like watching movies or what your hobbies were but it will be nice to get to know you at least. Thanks. Johnnyauau2000 (talk) 10:48, 5 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Game of Death.

[edit]

I manage to fix a few issues and added the reception. However the reception is not well written because the flaws has already been mentioned on the revised version. I hope you can check the web references and clear up the reception and maybe add Bey Logans name to it. I want to add Bey Logan describing the movie as a good bad movie but it wouldn't work. I've also wanted to add a criticism involving a funeral between the real Bruce Lee and the movie but I'll leave it as an option.

By the way, when you clear up the article, don't forget to check your spelling. Thanks. Johnnyauau2000 (talk) 07:24, 19 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

City Hunter (film)

[edit]

I want you to take a look at the article. I presume for a while you haven't edit it for a while. So I'll simply ask for you to be able to cleanup and check for errors and such. Especially the City Hunter cast and the story. It shouldn't be hard and at least you'll get something to do. Johnnyauau2000 (talk) 13:42, 18 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hey. I haven't chat to you for a while. The plot for this movie City Hunter is quite too long and needs to be shorten to at least, uh, a page length. I don't know how long is too long but anyway, make sure you do some drafts and previews before you decide what needs to be taken out and what needs to be kept intact. I'm still cooling down since Christmas and New Years Day. So keep on editing and Happy New Year. Johnnyauau2000 (talk) 07:49, 2 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I hate to say this but the plot length in the article is too long. If you have the time, please go to the article and shorten the length of it so it doesn't become too much of a centerpiece. If you're still available, I'll make it worth your while. Johnnyauau2000 (talk) 06:54, 25 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Johnny. I don't really edit Wikipedia anymore. I haven't really got the spare time to do it, and it's become rather a chore. I only occasionally pop by and check on the odd thing. I've had a look at the City Hunter (film) article and tidied up the wording a little, but if you want to reduce it further, you might want to cut the descriptions of one or two of the less important scenes. You will see that I posted in the talk page the reasons for the redirect - given that the page had not been edited for 9 Months, there was no indication that any "discussion" was likley to attract any editors, I went ahead as per WP:BOLD. Codf1977 (talk) 15:40, 17 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The deletion resulted in the logo image becoming orphaned and ultimately deleted, so I've had to submit a request for its undeletion. Articles shouldn't be deleted without any discussion unless they're clearly vandalism / libelous etc, as it gives people zero chance to save them. Removing the contents of the article and making it a into a redirect seems rather underhand to me (and consequently, WP:BOLD sounds like an excuse), as going through the process of proposing a deletion would clearly have taken more time and effort and potentially elicited opposition.
Nevertheless, as you've now gone down the more acceptable route of asking for proof of notability, and better yet, proposing a merge (which sounds like it may be a viable option), I'll look into improving the content of the article. Gram123 (talk) 16:10, 17 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I did NOT delete the article, just redirected it - given that the vast majority of the page is un sourced (all but the bit about the release of the second album), there was/is nothing to merge anyway. I am sorry you feel it was underhand, I assure you it was not. Codf1977 (talk) 16:20, 17 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Needing Wiki contribution assistance!

[edit]

Hello Gram123!

I am looking for an experienced Wikipedian to contribute an article for our band Mr. Meeble. I have checked and we meet the Wikipedia "notability" guidelines for a band. We have a very basic Wikipedia article written already, but I know that someone like yourself may be able to point out our formatting errors and critical omissions. You can hear our music and see our videos here:

http://youtube.com/mrmeeble

Let me know if you would be willing to help!

Regards,
Devin

The article Fat City Recordings has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The label is verifiable but does not appear to have been the subject of significant coverage in reliable sources, per WP:GNG.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Heart of the Dragon

[edit]

Hello
I was interested in reading or writing an article about the 1985 documentary series "Heart of the Dragon". I notice from the edit history of “Heart of Dragon”, that its first edit (by you in September 2006) was a redirect to HotD, which suggests you moved the article that was there before, in order to write the film page.
Can you remember? Is that what happened? It is a redlink now: Can you tell me anything about the article that was there before? Thanks, Moonraker12 (talk) 12:20, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Useless Wooden Toys

[edit]

The article Useless Wooden Toys has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Album with questionable notability that has no refs either

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:HKCinemagic Logo.JPG

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:HKCinemagic Logo.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Diannaa (talk) 15:37, 10 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Proposed deletion of Only Child (musician)

[edit]

The article Only Child (musician) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not notable. No sources; the only external link is to a bar/restaurant site with no information on the artist. A search turns up nothing except places to buy or listen to some of their works. No indication comes close to satisfying WP:GNG or WP:NMUSIC even if sourced.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 17:35, 25 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
