I've moved your created article from Wikipedia:Corner Tube Boilers to corner tube boilers. This is so that it meets our project standards for naming articles (WP:MOSNAME) and so that the links work. Good to have another editor along with an interest in boilers! 8-)
Actually it might yet need to be moved to corner tube boiler, as the rules for when to use plural names are quite restrictive. I'd need to read up more about them before knowing – easy to move though. Andy Dingley (talk) 15:30, 15 January 2013 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Eckrohrkessel
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Eckrohrkessel, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which articles can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may be soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
- It seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. (See section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.
- It appears to be a clear copyright infringement. (See section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. However, even if you use one of these processes to release copyrighted material to Wikipedia, it still needs to comply with the other policies and guidelines to be eligible for inclusion. If you would like any assistance with this, you can ask a question at the help desk.
If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Explaination as to why the page Eckrohrkessel should not be deleted
[edit]Hello Wiki users !
I am glad to receive the immediate feedbacks here on WIKI immediately as soon as I am writing them . My first article was written yesterday Corner tube boiler ( already deleted) and the second today (Eckrohrkessel). The policies and terms and conditions are still new for me and I am learning a lot every hour because of the different nominations for speedy deletions for my articles. But even though I am working in the sandbox and have not yet released it for the so called publishing why am I still getting speedy nominations on my sandbox ?
I am going to start to work on changing the article immediately now in my own words and will try not to misuse this platform of wikipedia for any kind of advertising or personal profit. I would like to hear or read comments of those experts here on wikipedia. (Ghorpaapi (talk) 14:09, 16 January 2013 (UTC))
- Hi Ghorpaapi, sorry your first experiences here have been just a little frustrating!
- Wikipedia is built on a ton of confusing policies. Most are obscure, many are ignored, but some are rigorously pursued. Copyright is one of these. It's not accepted that content is pasted from a source, as this is seen as a WP:COPYVIO (and you know the rest). Sometimes drafts are given a little more leeway, but sometimes not and they tend not to be after a first article has been deleted. Some authors just don't draft online, but work off-line first, on their own computers.
- You might find the Teahouse helpful and a pretty friendly place for new editors. Good luck with it, feel free to ask me anything here or on my talk page. Andy Dingley (talk) 15:34, 16 January 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks you for your feedback Andy. The Teahourse platform came out of great help.
(Ghorpaapi (talk) 15:45, 16 January 2013 (UTC))
- Hello Andy once again! After doing a good research on wiki articles notability and citations I am beginning with my article again but this time again in Sandbox. In case I am doing any infringement again it is totally UNINTENTIONAL : Ghorpaapi
Problem in citing multiple quotes from the same book ??
[edit]
This help request has been answered. If you need more help, place a new help me request on this page followed by your questions, contact the responding user(s) directly on their user talk page, or consider visiting the Teahouse. |
I am trying to quote 2 different books mayer and thome and I have tried the exact mentioned way to cite the same ref twice , the mayer citation worked correctly and exactly as I wanted but when I try to cite the thome twice the reference goes automatically to mayer as the third , fourth and the fifth reference consequently . The article in process and not yet finished and hence I am still working on it in my sandbox. Ghorpaapi (talk) 16:10, 11 March 2013 (UTC)
- I hope you don't mind, but I've just fixed some reference syntax and WP:MOS stuff. I think the main problem was using double quotes around the name attribute.
- I also find that generous whitespace around reference parameters makes editing them a lot easier. Andy Dingley (talk) 16:35, 11 March 2013 (UTC)
- I did much the same thing, but when I finally clicked "Save page" I found Andy had got there first. I have turned off the "helpme" as I think your problem is fixed. The examples of how to do references put quotes round: , I suppose to show that "X" is an example, but you don't need to - <ref name=May> works fine. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 17:21, 11 March 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks a lot Andy Dingley and JohnCDfor your time and help to make this article better. The citations seem a lot easier now. Ghorpaapi (talk) 09:18, 12 March 2013 (UTC)
- It's funny that – those templates are impossible to get right, until finally they are right, and then you can't see what the problem could ever have been! Andy Dingley (talk) 11:41, 12 March 2013 (UTC)

Could you at least read an article before claiming it is a promotion?? And if you are going to make that claim, then do please tell what company the article is promoting. As for John Hirst, he is a significant figure in British public life, as a few minutes of googling would confirm. AlfBit (talk) 11:44, 4 April 2013 (UTC)
- That's precisely what I meant when I said at the Teahouse that you'd need to be careful... One of my (now apparently retired) adoptees, User:Shrikanthv, had very similar problems, and almost got into serious trouble for misusing the G11 tag on new articles - don't go the same way! I can't see any suggestion of promotional editing at John Hirst (businessman); I'd be curious to know what it was that made you think it was a suitable candidate for deletion - if we know why editors make mistakes with deletion templates like this, we can look at revising the wording behind them to make their correct useage clearer. G11 again
[edit]Yes, Giresh Gunjan needed to be deleted. No, it was not blatant advertising or promotion. The correct tag in this case would have been A7: No indication of importance (real person). If you want some assistance in this area, I'd be happy to help - I've a couple of CSD-related pages in my userspace as part of my adoption school, and I can easily adapt them for you. Yunshui 雲水 12:40, 5 April 2013 (UTC)
Dear Yunshui ! thank you for your spontaneous feedback. I will definitely need assistance from you , I completely agree and I am glad that you are watching and guiding me at every step. Simultaneously, please guide me in this particular case if the person has used the marketing or advertising language for himself ( here A glorious student ) may there be a chance that the person is trying to use WIKI platform for his own personal benefits ? Ghorpaapi (talk) 12:47, 5 April 2013 (UTC)
- Dear Yunshui! Yes the A7 criteria is the appropriate one. My mistake again in tagging. Ghorpaapi (talk) 12:57, 5 April 2013 (UTC)
- I can see where you're coming from regarding the language, but it's easy enough to remove one word (maybe two, if you include his description of his college as "famous"). If you can fix the article with a slight change to the wording, it's not a candidate for speedy deletion. In this case, though, removing the peacock words would still have left a hopelessly unsuitable article, about a clearly non-notable subject - hence, we delete it on the grounds of encyclopedia (un)importance, rather than the language used. As a rule of thumb, if you can remove the promotional language and still leave a half-decent article then a) you should! and b) it's not a candidate for G11. Only if the text is so shot through with ad-speak that it's unsalvagable should G11 come into play. Yunshui 雲水 13:02, 5 April 2013 (UTC)
- Tell you want, if you want a bit of practice try this test from my adoption pages. It should only take about ten or fifteen minutes to complete, and I'll be happy to mark your responses to give you an idea of what you need to work on. Yunshui 雲水 13:05, 5 April 2013 (UTC)
- Great ! I am going to tag those articles now as a practice tests. Ghorpaapi (talk) 13:15, 5 April 2013 (UTC)
- Rather than actually putting a deletion request up, why don't you edit question page to let Yunshui know what you would do in each situation :) WormTT(talk) 13:22, 5 April 2013 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) Woah there! Don't actually tag them, please - they're intended as tests, we don't actually want them deleted. Just put your answers on the quiz page. Yunshui 雲水 13:23, 5 April 2013 (UTC)
- Great ! I am going to tag those articles now as a practice tests. Ghorpaapi (talk) 13:15, 5 April 2013 (UTC)
- Okay okay !! I assumed that I have to tag them ! Sorry ! I am gonna edit them. Please don't be mad at me ! :s Ghorpaapi (talk) 13:25, 5 April 2013 (UTC)
- No worries - it's totally my fault anyway; I forgot to substitute the page (I transcluded it instead) meaning that you wouldn't have been able to add your answers to it anyway. Sorry about that; it's now fixed - just edit the page and put your answers next to the A for each question. Yunshui 雲水 13:28, 5 April 2013 (UTC)
- Okay okay !! I assumed that I have to tag them ! Sorry ! I am gonna edit them. Please don't be mad at me ! :s Ghorpaapi (talk) 13:25, 5 April 2013 (UTC)
Okay, I've marked your answers - it looks as though you need to spend a bit more time reading through the deletion policies. Whilst I can see the logic behind most of your responses, you've made a lot of mistakes, such as tagging non-articles with article-only reasons, or misunderstanding the concept of context in relation to A1. It's important to remember that speedy deletion tags are deliberately very limited in their scope; anything outside the extremely small remit of CSD needs to be dealt with using WP:PROD or WP:AFD instead.
Try to reconsider your approach to deletion - if you find a crappy article, make your first thought, "How can I fix this?" rather than "Why should this be deleted?" Only if a fix isn't feasible should you be thinking about deletion, and unless you're certain that the page falls unequivocably into one of the CSD categories, that deletion should be a PROD at worst. If you find something you're unsure about, it's perfectly okay to ask me (or another experienced editor) for a second opinion; we're always happy to help! Yunshui 雲水 09:18, 8 April 2013 (UTC)

j⚛e deckertalk 20:39, 18 April 2013 (UTC)Sandboxes and live pages
[edit]Hi Ghorpaapi,
Hope you don't mind, but I've just re-arranged some of your pages. The problem was that the La Mont boiler content was still in your userspace (it should be a live article by now) and also that when you emptied your sandbox for a new article you wiped this content for an old article.
I've moved user:Ghorpaapi/sandbox1 to La Mont boiler. You could now tag user:Ghorpaapi/sandbox1 with a db-u1 "user deletion request" template if you wish.
I use the following sequence for writing articles. It works for me, you might like to consider it:
Suppose I have an article idea for the "Purton hulks":
- I create a draft page at User:Andy Dingley/My created pages/Purton hulks.
- I also list it on my drafts page at User:Andy Dingley/My created pages and create a link to it as
* hulks
(note the leading slash)
- Write the article.
- Any "Stub" templates are added as links, not transcluded as template.
ship-type-stub
, giving ship-type-stub- (This keeps userspace drafts out of live stub categories)
- Any categories are linked, but not included
:Category:Ship disposal
, giving Category:Ship disposal- (This keeps userspace pages out of live articlespace)
- Decide that the article is complete enough to be released.
- Move the article from userspace to article mainspace. Use the Move tab at the top tabbed bar. NB – Make sure the target namespace is changed to "Article", otherwise it will end up in userspace by default. If you want to change the article name, now is an easy time.
- Edit your created pages list. Remove the leading slash, so that it's now a link to the live page, not the old sandbox location. If you lose your ages altogether, they're listed under Special:PrefixIndex/User:Ghorpaapi/ anyway (this is linked from your Contributions page as "Subpages")
- Tag your old sandbox page (which will have been turned into a redirect) with db-u1, just to tidy up.
I wouldn't create pages called "sandbox1". You can use a real article name instead, like user:Ghorpaapi/La Mont boiler. It's easier to see what you're doing, especially for lots of pages.
Hope this helps Andy Dingley (talk) 09:15, 19 April 2013 (UTC)
- Hello Andy ! I am thankful to you for your tips and guidance. Its always better to be controlled and mentored by one of the seniors in the profession. I just went through the links and now it looks easier and structured. The stub removal template in my sandbox however will not remove the original article which is accepted right ? [edit]Okay, all done. Not bad - you need to review your understanding of namespaces and which tags are apllicable to which ones, but for the most part your answers showed a much-improved understanding of speedy deletion criteria. I've given specific feedback on each answer, so have a look through and ask me if there's anything that doesn't make sense. Yunshui 雲水 13:14, 23 April 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks Yunshui ! I am glad to receive the feedback as well. Your comments summarized a lot of info on my knowledge for the CSD criteria. Namespace is the next stage to get along with. I am going through an adoption process under the guidance of JHUbal27, Jackson Peebles, and GoPhigtins. Three mentors at a time will definetely help me expand my knowledge. I removed the speedy tag you put on this article as the rationale you provided doesn't match the circumstances. You might try taking it to WP:AFD as an essay. Dennis Brown - 2¢ © Join WER 15:36, 7 May 2013 (UTC)

I am still currently adding the references and citations. This will make it so, it would not be considered an article. Thank you for your contributions on wikipedia and successfully monitoring it. Adoption
[edit]Sorry for the delay, but your adoption page is now up-to-date. Go Phightins! 20:54, 7 May 2013 (UTC)
- No problem GoP ! I saw your update on your talk page that, you will be busy in some real life activities and Jackson also is attending a seminar till tomorrow. I was practising CSD and Twinkle in the last few days. Haven't heard anything from JHUbal27 in a while as well, so I assumed everyone is busy right now. Ghorpaapi (talk) 07:25, 8 May 2013 (UTC)
- You haven't heard from me because my phone is so cool, but it's just not compatible with this website. I am super busy with school so I can't be around. So either way, it's bye bye to wiki. Doing the best I can with Swype, your vandalism shooting its average.the first one was dead on, but the second one was in good faith.be careful with the third one since the user blanked his own talk page. ~~JHUbal27 01:50, 10 May 2013 (UTC)

Speedy deletion tagging
[edit]Please be more careful when tagging pages for speedy deletion. I have declined a few, and even resurrected one that was deleted by an admin already.
- Khan Muttaqi Nadeem is not an A7 candidate. His claims need checking, to see whether they are true and whether they are truly important, but the article makes clear claims to importance. It may turn out to be an AfD candidate, it may also turn out to be a valuable addition on an important person. But not an A7.
- Rizwan anwar is less clear cut; I removed the A7, as there were some claims to importance, but it is borderline. Still, better safe than sorry.
- Lilian faithfull is a notable person, the article seemed to indicate as much and a one-minute Google check revealed that this was undoubtedly true. This one should never have been tagged (not as A7, even less as G11), and not have been deleted either (but the second part is not your responsability of course).
- Temperature of mussoorie; this is more minor, but you tagged this as G2 (test page), which should almùost never be used actually. It was an A1 or A3 speedy. G2 should be reserved for people creating sand boxes and the like in the wrong namespace, not for people who may be trying to start a real article (or who are simply vandalizing, with such short articles it's hard to tell).
Many of your speedy taggings are clearly correct, thanks for those, but perhaps try to be a bit more conservative and to give articles the benefit of the doubt a few times more. Fram (talk) 10:12, 24 May 2013 (UTC)
- Great comments. Thank you.
- Khan Muttaqi Nadeem Agreed on the AfD possibility and a wrong CSD tagged article.
- Rizwan anwar I am not able to see the content once again because of this 1.But you are more experienced and as an administrator as well. I assume you are right and I have done a mistake.
- Lilian faithfull Yes ! I checked the importance as soon as you removed the tag and wanted to communicate, but I thought of taking care of my growling stomach in 30 mins and then write back to you with a thanks a message of appreciation.
- Temperature of mussoorieYes it had to be deleted but my tag was not the right one.
- I appreciate you not only watching over me and my activities but also commenting and leaving your remarks. Thanks for the boost Many of your speedy taggings are clearly correct, thanks for those'. The four explainations above have definitely cost you time and effort which I am really thankful for. . Ghorpaapi (talk) 11:41, 24 May 2013 (UTC)
