Essay
[edit]Hi Departure (again)! I was wondering if you could look at WP:Notability and tornadoes and tell me if it looks good (you don't have to, just reaching out). We seriously need a policy rewrite, and I'm currently just working on a general essay to solve it while we figure it out. Feel free to add whatever. :) EF5 16:19, 20 December 2024 (UTC)
- I really think more emphasis needs to be placed on the depth of coverage. Nashville definitely is notable enough for an article, being one of the costliest tornadoes in history, but one just hasn't been written (or rather, is currently in draftspace (wait, red link - it got G13'd due to inactivity)). For instance, I definitely wouldn't have made the article on the 2021 Naperville-Woodridge tornado if there was an article about the June 20 outbreak, but since there isn't and is unlikely to be one, and this one took a commanding amount of coverage, I just made a standalone article for it, and haven't been taken to AfD due to the sourcing. LASTING coverage isn't a policy, rather an aspect of GNG that makes a topic more likely to be notable. From major news sources, both Mayfield, Naperville, and Nashville (specifically Mount Juliet) received major news coverage when they occurred, but local news coverage this year. The Tri-State tornado, despite being obviously notable, has only received a single Chicago Tribune article for major coverage this year, but significant local news coverage, and is obviously notable, so the local news coverage really should be held to the same as major news coverage for demonstrating LASTING. [edit]- From the archives: Where to draw the line in reporting?
- Recent research: "Wikipedia editors are quite prosocial", but those motivated by "social image" may put quantity over quality
- Gallery: A feast of holidays and carols
- Traffic report: Was a long and dark December
AN/I
[edit]Generally, you should revert and warn the editor instead of coming straight to AN/I. Best, voorts (talk/contributions) 17:24, 28 December 2024 (UTC)
- Understood. Is there a template uw for this type of reference change? I couldn't easily find one. Departure– (talk) 17:27, 28 December 2024 (UTC)
