Advice on a user

I would like some advice on user GoutComplex, who has been advised by several users but is still using low quality sources. I think their recent edits do not improve the encyclopedia, but they are a new user so ANI would not be appropriate.

I noticed that they edited Anglo-Saxons and History of Anglo-Saxon England‎ and Saxons referencing an anthology of 19th-century literature and were reverted by myself and two other users. I then explained on their talk page that a book about the 19th century is not a good source for a statement about medieval history. Their talk page has notices about unreliable sources from six other editors. On 4 October they made 19 edits referenced to the History of the World by Jeremy Black (not listed). On 5 October they made 6 edits based on The Economics Book and The Literature Book (see website.

TSventon, to be blunt I don't see a lot of options. I see a lot of attempts to engage with this user, many of which haven't gotten a response. This editor is pretty clearly here in good faith, but isn't engaging with your complaints. For what it's worth, based on their choices of sources I think they're a younger editor. I'm afraid that AN/I is probably your best bet if the problems continue. GeneralNotability (talk) 23:48, 13 October 2023 (UTC)
Thank you for looking at this, I am not surprised that there is no easy solution to this. I don't have much experience of unconstructive editing, except where it affect articles on my watchlist. TSventon (talk) 11:16, 14 October 2023 (UTC)

Potential sock puppet

Hello, I’ve been editing some pages regarding British peers and I’ve noticed that the edits by User talk:Earl of Sutton Coldfield are fairly similar to the blocked user User:Mr Hall of England, including a tendency to put flagicons where they’re not appropriate and adding excessive detail. The account was created after the prior one was blocked. I don’t know for sure whether they’re connected, but I think it’s worth looking into. Since I don’t have an account and I saw that you handled the prior block, I figured I’d bring it up here. 170.76.231.175 (talk) 15:00, 25 October 2023 (UTC)

Thanks anon, I will have a look. GeneralNotability (talk) 00:08, 31 October 2023 (UTC)
