A tag has been placed on Tony Baxter (imagineer), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is notable, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. MER-C 08:28, 9 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your bot

[edit]

Hi, your bot keeps adding fr:Richard Walsh (personnage de 24) to the Richard Walsh article which is an article about a real Irish politician not a fictitious character from a TV series. Richard Walsh (24 character) does not have its own article its a redirect to Minor CTU agents in 24#Season One. Please update your bot. Snappy56 (talk) 09:46, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No idea, I can't unblock you if it says you aren't blocked... - Francis Tyers · 14:42, 27 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hello.
Actually, when you block an account with "IP autoblock" mode, there's a 2nd block on the IP that appears like
Ба таври худкор нишонаи IP-и шумо баста шуда чун аз тарафи "(user name)" истифод шуда буд, ки нишонааш бо шумо як аст. Далели бастан StigBot чуни and that appears with an associated #(number)
In order for the person to be really unblocked, you also have to remove that IP block when it exists.
I took the liberty of doing it for this one, but you'll also encounter that problem for StigBot ( #1264 )
Please contact me (on frwiki) if you have any question regarding that or regarding blocks in general

Thanks for the explanation. I removed the wrong links from the French, English, Bhojpuri and Newari Wikipedias now... I hope it'll work now. Thanks for the cooperation! :) — N-true (talk) 11:23, 3 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Several times this article, about an eighteenth-century novel written by Frances Burney, has been linked to the French article on this SF novel by Fritz Lieber, several times by your bot. Could you fix this? Thanks. Awadewit (talk) 00:17, 22 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

InterWiki contemporary music / 21st-century classical music

[edit]

Hello! Your bot has just re-linked a whole lot of articles on "contemporary music" or "contemporary classical music" on the Czech, Danish, French, Spanish, Italian and other Wikipedias to 21st-century classical music on the English Wikipedia instead of Contemporary classical music. This seems wrong, as these articles on English Wikipedia cover different areas - see their respective discussion pages. --Deskford (talk) 14:59, 16 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think I have reverted all these back to the way they are supposed to be, though without the help of a bot this involved me in editing a lot of pages in unfamiliar languages, so I hope I haven't messed anything up. See discussion on Talk:21st-century classical music.--Deskford (talk) 11:19, 17 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Could you also limit your Bot to French Wikis? After all you are a French administrator and you are not listed on the English Wikipedia:List_of_administrators/G-O (Gdgourou) or Wikipedia:List of administrators/P-Z (Ptbotgourou). Both the cited articles above are English Wikis. Thanks. Jubilee♫clipman 14:29, 17 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Gdgourou! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to insure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 139 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

  1. Tony Baxter (imagineer) - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Transogram Company, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.library.hbs.edu/hc/lehman/company.html?company=transogram_company_inc. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.)

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. [edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, such as Transogram Company, but we regretfully cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from either web sites or printed material. This article appears to be a copy from http://www.library.hbs.edu/hc/lehman/company.html?company=transogram_company_inc, and therefore a copyright violation. The copyrighted text has been or will soon be deleted. While we appreciate contributions, we must require all contributors to understand and comply with our copyright policy. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators are liable to be blocked from editing.

If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under allowance license, then you should do one of the following:

It may also be necessary for the text be modified to have an encyclopedic tone and to follow Wikipedia article layout. For more information on Wikipedia's policies, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.

If you would like to begin working on a new version of the article you may do so at this temporary page. Leave a note at Talk:Transogram Company saying you have done so and an administrator will move the new article into place once the issue is resolved. Thank you, and please feel welcome to continue contributing to Wikipedia. Happy editing! VernoWhitney (talk) 15:47, 18 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

While not a word-for-word copy, the article is a close paraphrase and needs to be rewritten further (preferably from scratch) in order to avoid infringing copyright. VernoWhitney (talk) 15:47, 18 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ptbotgourou linking EBX Group to fr:EBox

[edit]

Ptbotgourou has added an interwiki link on EBX Group, linking to fr:EBox. The two articles are in no way related. Other bots have made the same mistake. If you know of a way to prevent this in the future, I would love to hear about it. Cnilep (talk) 15:58, 7 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your reply on my talk page. I have tried to do just this. I changed fr:EBX, which had been a redirect to EBox, to a disambiguation page directing to EBox, ebXML, and Groupe EBX. Groupe EBX is a red link, but it is also redlinked from fr:Eike Batista. As you say, I now have to hope that this works, and that nobody reverts my edits. I am not a fluent French speaker/ writer, so I hope I have not made any serious errors. Cnilep (talk) 13:10, 8 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Gdgourou. I knew User:Ptbotgourou was a bot, but wrongly assumed the bot's owner would be watching User talk:Ptbotgourou. Thanks again. memphisto 10:29, 17 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Quatrefoil

[edit]

Hello! Just about the sentence: "...The quatrefoil is the official symbol of the Bishop James Madison Society, est. 1812 at the College of William and Mary." What does "est.1812" stand for? Thanks a lot in advance! 2.196.8.8 (talk) 05:09, 16 August 2011 (UTC) So it stands for "founded in 1812", doesn'it? Thanks a lot in advance! 2.196.8.8 (talk) 05:55, 16 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Bot Error re: "Swamp Pop"/"Swamp Rock"

[edit]

Bonjour du le sud de la Louisiane!

I noticed that your bot Ptbotgourou recently changed all the de, es, fy, it, no, pt, ro, sv references from "swamp pop" to "swamp rock" on the entry for Swamp pop.

Unfortunately, "swamp pop" and "swamp rock" are two different musical genres.

Could you configure the bot so that it doesn't make this change in the future?

Sincerement,

UTC Aerospace Systems -- please call off your bot :-)

[edit]

I am reverting this diff made by your Ptbotgourou: [1] because UTC Aerospace Systems was created as an improper move of the page Hamilton Sundstrand. This is a bit of a mess; the company was recently acquired by HS's parent corporation, creating UTCAS. That doesn't erase Hamilton Sundstrand's history, so the page move was inappropriate, and was restored by another editor. (Unfortunately, the new article carries Hamilton Sundstrand's history with it now, and maybe that's what your bot glommed on to.) I doubt that German, French or Italian versions of UTCAS exist yet; in fact it's little more than a stub now. (The person who rewrote the article had a conflict of interest, and just filled it with corporate promotional material.) The real Hamilton Sundstrand article already has the German, French and Italian interwikilinks in it.

BTW, I don't know if you get a chance to check the bot's talk page often; it seems to be full of bot errors. JustinTime55 (talk) 21:26, 24 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion

[edit]

Since you've recently edited the article, there is a discussion at Saving Mr. Banks currently underway, that you may be interested in partaking. A consensus is being attempted to be reached, regarding the placement of one of the article's sections. Your input will be greatly appreciated.
