Samarth Pratishthan

[edit]

I have noted your creation and maintenance of Samarth Pratishthan. However, the article seems to not be in-line with WP:NOT and reads more like a journal. Also, it seems to lack the ability to be verified and references. Do you require any assistance? Please note that it is possible that your hard work will go to waste if the article is nominated for deletion. Crisco 1492 (talk) 09:21, 27 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Samarth6.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Samarth6.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 07:42, 2 May 2011 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. feydey (talk) 07:42, 2 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Continued removal of tags, etc

[edit]

Please stop. Continuing to remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia without resolving the problem that the template refers to may be considered disruptive editing. Further edits of this type may result in your account being blocked from editing Wikipedia. 99.155.206.229 (talk) 12:11, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think you quite understand Wikipedia guidelines, and that things haven't changed since someone raised these issues with you three months ago. Your sole purpose seems to be the promotion of one institution, and your continued removal of maintenance tags, without supplying any reliable sources that may establish the subject's notability or substantiate the article's content, gives the impression of WP:COI and WP:OWNERSHIP. Since the text appears to be nearly identical to that of the institution's website, it raises concerns re: WP:COPYRIGHT as well. Primarily you appear to be intent on creating an article without explaining your edits or attempting to correct the problems--I encourage you to read Wiki's guidelines. Thank you, 99.155.206.229 (talk) 12:32, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This is your last warning. The next time you remove the maintenance templates from Wikipedia articles without resolving the problem that the template refers to, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. 99.155.206.229 (talk) 13:32, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Article deleted

[edit]

I have deleted Samarth Pratishtan for several reasons. First, more than half of it was a direct copy of the group's website; this is a copyright violation. If you're interested in recreating the article, there are ways to donate that text to us so that it is in the public domain, but... The other problem is that the article was strictly promotional in nature. A Wikipedia article should never sound like a group's website. It shouldn't be in 3rd person ("we"), it shouldn't contain multiple links to the website...in short, its purpose should not be to "promote" the group. Wikipedia articles need to be factual, and they need to be based primarily on independent secondary reliable sources--that is, newspapers, tv news programs, academic journals, etc.--things completely unconnected with the band, that meet WP:RS. If such sources don't exist, then the group can't have a Wikipedia article. Since everything in the article was promotional, the only way to make a functional article is to start over again. If you need help doing that, please post here or on my talk page and I will provide advice. Qwyrxian (talk) 14:19, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Trying one more time to communicate

[edit]

Hey, I see that you attempted to recreate "Samarth Pratishthan" and that it was subsequently deleted again for the same reasons. First, you have to understand that you cannot, under any circumstances, copy and paste information from copyrighted sources onto Wikipedia. You also can't copy them and then just change a few words here and there; rather, the information needs to be substantially rewritten. Second, you can't create a Wikipedia article just to promote your group. Wikipedia articles must be only about things that have been discussed in detail in multiple, independent reliable sources. In other words, you can't use Wikipedia to make your group better known; it must already be well known, and then Wikipedia can report on it afterward. Please, if you have questions about this, ask me here or on my talk page. If you keep trying to recreate the article, it's still going to be deleted, and, worse, you're going to end up blocked for editing disruptively. Qwyrxian (talk) 01:23, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.

Thank you.

A tag has been placed on Samarth pratishthan, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article that does not provide sufficient context to identify its subject. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, contest the deletion by clicking on the button that says: Click here to contest this speedy deletion which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the article's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. CanadianLinuxUser (talk) 12:59, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Just so you know, I have now "protected" both of those article titles, which means you will not be able to recreate the article. Again, if you want help trying to make a version of this article that meets our guidelines and policies, I will help you do so, but you can't just keep trying to recreate the same article repeatedly without fixing the underlyign problems. Qwyrxian (talk) 23:37, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
And you cannot get around the problem by putting it on your user page. If you continue to add copyrighted text to Wikipedia, you will be blocked for disruptive editing. Period. You've had plenty of warnings and offers of help, so now you need to begin following our policies or lose your editing privileges. Qwyrxian (talk) 06:57, 23 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

How to keep the article

[edit]

Okay, if you want to write a Wikipedia article on "Samarth Pratishthan", there are two main things you need to know. The first one is, you cannot, under any situation, directly copy information from another website, unless that site is in the public domain--the site you copied from is not. This rule is completely non-negotiable--there is no exception to the rule that says you can't just copy other webpages (or books, or newspapers, etc.). So, any information you pull off of that website has to be rewritten into new words--and not just changing a few words, but a major change to the content. In any event, the majority of that information you copied does not belong in a Wikipedia article.

The second thing is that Wikipedia only allows articles on things (people, bands, companies, etc.) that are Notable. The way we tell if something is notable is if it has been discussed in detail in multiple (more than 1 at least), independent (not in any way connected to the band or its members), reliable sources (like regular newspapers, some magazines, television news programs, a small number of reliable websites, etc.). Note that the band's own webpage, Facebook, Twitter, etc. are not enough to meet this rule. If this band has never been discussed in reliable sources, then it cannot have a Wikipedia page. This is basically the way that Wikipedia decides which things are encyclopedic enough to be covered, and which are not.

So, I guess the question I have is, has this band been covered in reliable sources? If so, please describe them to me with full publication information (newspaper name, article title, publication date, and an online link if there is one). Then I can help advise you about how to create the page. Qwyrxian (talk) 11:18, 23 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 1 week for continually recreating the same copyright violating, promotional article, first in mainspace then as your userpage. Ganeshsiddha, I have tried to help, but you keep disruptively recreating the same page. As such, I have had to block you. After you are unblocked in a week, if you still want to try making the page, I will help, but you have to stop just trying to force the page into Wikipedia. We have rules about how articles must be written and what things can have articles; if you cannot follow those, you cannot edit here. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Qwyrxian (talk) 10:20, 24 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Not blocked...so

[edit]

Ganesh, you aren't blocked. Ah, but I think I know what the problem is--you're trying to recreate an article about Samarth pratishthan, right? Ah, the problem is that that page is protected so that it cannot be created by anyone other than an admin, basically because you kept recreating an article which didn't follow our policies. But there is a way to fix that! I created a "Sandbox" for you, which is basically a place where you can write a draft version of your article, and then I can review it before we consider adding it to the encyclopedia. In the search box in the upper right, go to "User:Ganeshsiddha/Sandbox" and edit that space. Then, once you have your new article up, I'll review it. Note that just fixing the copyright problem isn't going to be enough--you're going to have to show that the group meets WP:BAND (i.e., that the group is notable, has been discussed by independent reliable sources, etc.). When you have the draft done, you can leave a note here, and I'll take a look, okay? Let me know if you have any problems making that work. Qwyrxian (talk) 12:41, 19 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
