Peer editing my addition to the Tomboy article
[edit]Hi Frederika Eilers. I saw that you had signed up in my class's Wikipedia page to peer review my article, and thank you for taking an interest. I would like to invite you to look at my sandbox to see what I plan to add to the article. I added a second paragraph to the "History and society" section in order to provide some information about the evolution of the idea of tomboyism in the United States (because the societal perception of tomboys changed from nineteenth century into the twentieth century). I saw there was a gap from usage from the 1500s until Judith Halberstam's discussion, and I hope that my paragraph adds some historical context to address the gap. I have more scholarship that I would like to add into the page later, but I wanted to try this one paragraph first to see if my contribution fits well with the current community on the page. On June 4, my class plans to start transferring what is in our sandboxes to the articles, but I am always open for suggestions for improvement. Best, Beachmirage (talk) 01:43, 4 June 2015 (UTC)
i've read it & commented. Looking forward to more changes. Frederika Eilers (talk) 02:59, 4 June 2015 (UTC)

[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited African-American architects, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page New York (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). appreciate the thanks on harriet although someone added it back
[edit]Another person has already readded back "success" to Harriet even though there is no source that supports that statement/conclusion/opinoin. Please feel free to make any change that you feel is appropriate as the other person did. Unfortunately the other person I don't think realizes that there are far more costs involved with films than just what it cost to produce a film. The #s that Harriet has would make me question whether it actually made any money or if it did I would believe very little once marketing and distribution costs were added in. I wish the film industry would be more transparent with those costs and open with them but I guess they have a reason for not doing so. Frankly I liked the film but wasn't overwhelmed by it. It ignored so much of her accomplishments particularly during the civil war and essentially had them just as frame items that I believe it did a huge disservice to her accomplishments. What she did during the civil war is why there was a 40 year battle over her receiving a pension based on her service one would think would be significant and from what i saw as recently as 2003 congress tried, and in my opinion failed, to make up for what she was short changed in a pension that she truly earned. take care. — Preceding unsigned comment added by SailedtheSeas (talk • contribs) 23:50, 26 July 2020 (UTC)
- Frankly, I thanked you because you looked like a somewhat new editor and gave a reasonable explanation in the description. I have not seen the movie, so I have no opinion on it. I do follow your argument that money is not the same as success, however now that I have read the Hollywood Reporter, I see that it says "Harriet has become one of the most successful biographical dramas in the history of Focus Features at the domestic box office".[1] Hence, characterizing it as such in the wikipedia article seems fair to me.Fred (talk) 03:57, 27 July 2020 (UTC)
Thank you. It's the qualifier "in the history of Focus Features" which is a film production company. To follow wikipedia's guidance that clause would need to be added else it is out of context. The article to me is doing a lot of parsing trying to bolster it's statements. I actually dislike the film because it didn't include her civil war service beyond a statement. She was very valuable and important to the North's victory and it took about 40 years but she ultimately received a civil war pension based upon her war service although not what she deserved. She really was a remarkable person and I hope that someone else does some film depiction that includes her war service as i think a lot of people would be surprised. As an fyi i'm a civil war buff. thanks and tc. — Preceding unsigned comment added by SailedtheSeas (talk • contribs) 21:04, 27 July 2020 (UTC)

You've been unsubscribed from the Feedback Request Service
[edit]Hi Frederika Eilers! You're receiving this notification because you were previously subscribed to the Feedback Request Service, but you haven't made any edits to the English Wikipedia in over six months.
In order to declutter the Feedback Request Service list, and to produce a greater chance of active users being randomly selected to receive invitations to contribute, you've been unsubscribed, along with all other users who have made no edits in six months.
You do not need to do anything about this - if you are happy to not receive Feedback Request Service messages, thank you very much for your contributions in the past, and this will be the last you hear from the service. If, however, you would like to resubscribe yourself, you can follow the below instructions to do so:
- Go to the Feedback Request Service page.
- Decide which categories are of interest to you, under the RfC and/or GA headings.
- Paste
{{Frs user|Frederika Eilers|limit}}
underneath the relevant heading(s), where limit is the maximum number of requests you wish to receive for that category per month. - Publish the page.
If you've just come back after a wikibreak and are seeing this message, welcome back! You can follow the above instructions to re-activate your subscription. Likewise, if this is an alternate account, please consider subscribing your main account in much the same way.
Note that if you had a rename and left your old name subscribed to the FRS, you may be receiving this message on your new username's talk page still. If so, make sure your new account name is subscribed to the FRS, using the same procedure mentioned above.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask on the Feedback Request Service talk page, or on the Feedback Request Service bot's operator's talk page. Thank you! ArbCom 2022 Elections voter message
[edit]Hello! Voting in the 2022 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 12 December 2022. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2022 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}}

Women in Red 8th Anniversary
[edit]Women in Red 8th Anniversary | |
In July 2015 around 15.5% of the English Wikipedia's biographies were about women. As of July 2023, 19.61% of the English Wikipedia's biographies are about women. That's a lot of biographies created in the effort to close the gender gap. Happy 8th Anniversary! Join us for some virtual cake and add comments or memories and please keep on editing to close the gap! |
