Pre-RFC straw poll
There is a brief straw poll to see if conducting a RFC on the question of coordinates in road articles is worthwhile. Your input would be appreciated. --Rschen7754 08:19, 1 September 2011 (UTC)

Bad speedies
I was shocked that an admin accepted your speedy tag on Faraday - did you see how many incoming links it has? By all means convert this into a disambiguation page, but you certainly do not tag it for deletion. In the case of Emergency Detour Route, by all means tag this for deletion but you must fix the two incoming links before you do so. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 20:10, 10 September 2011 (UTC)
- Please go back and delete them. You have undone the first steps necessary to convert them into A) a proper hatnoted page for a disambiguation of two items and B) the proper capitalization. This is why the speedies were for a page move, not to just delete the target of said moves. - ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ τ ¢ 21:44, 10 September 2011 (UTC)
DYK for Ontario Highway 71
On 14 September 2011, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Ontario Highway 71, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that prior to its reconstruction, the Sioux Narrows Bridge, located along Ontario Highway 71, featured the longest single span of a wooden bridge in North America, at 64 metres (210 ft)? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Ontario Highway 71.You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

Lists of roads by county
I had to move List of numbered roads in Grey County, Ontario back... There was a Grey County in Western Australia and one in New Zealand. Since the Ontario location isn't the primary topic, the road list needs to be disambiguated as well. Imzadi 1979 → 21:33, 21 September 2011 (UTC)

401 FA?
Want to give the 401 another shot at the FA nomination? It's been sitting in A-class nomination forever. With a past FA evaluation, ongoing promotion to A class and your FA success with the DVP, I think it's worth another go. The article has also improved vastly since the last FA review. Haljackey (talk) 02:10, 29 September 2011 (UTC)

Before you re-post this to AIV or ANI, I'd recommend seeing what WP:ABUSE can do. In a case like this, with a 65,000-address pool, we can't really rangeblock effectively. m.o.p 19:23, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

Just for reference...
That wasn't a template, it was a politely worded message. Being polite is a generally nice thing to do, and doesn't need a template, even though some people seem to rely on them! Jeni (talk) 22:38, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
- Being polite means working politely. This includes collaborating with your fellow editors rather than serving as a bouncer of edits. The links and all caps currently in the article are against the manual of style, which is policy. I have no problem with them being in all caps on the regional destinations section (the target of the redirects), but on the junction list we are not attempting to replicate signage. It's not a huge issue to fix a few links instead of reverting the article to a policy-breaking state. - ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ τ ¢ 22:42, 5 October 2011 (UTC)

Hello, just thought it was best to let you know that I may not be able to add the info you stated to the Canada's Wonderland article for a few days (maybe even over a week). I'm kinda busy outside of Wikipedia right now so I won't have much chances to add the info. If you really want to get the info added soon, you can always ask one of the other editors that edit the article (see history tab on article). Sorry.--Dom497 (talk) 21:40, 11 October 2011 (UTC)

Hello Floydian. Regarding your recent edit, "don't archive incomplete requests..", the archiving script does *not* remove incomplete reports. Unless it sees a response containing the string 'RFPP' (i.e. an admin answer) under the report it stays there forever. If it does see 'RFPP' then it removes the request from the board if more than 12 hours have passed since the last time it was edited. Thank you, EdJohnston (talk) 21:46, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
- It was less than 24 hours... Maybe 90 minutes since the admin replied and three hours since I had initially posted it. - ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ τ ¢ 23:59, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
- The above diff does not show your request being dropped. Look again. It is still there, in both versions of the page. EdJohnston (talk) 03:26, 13 October 2011 (UTC)

- Not strictly related, but starting a new thread seems silly; was File:Downtown Waterloo.png the only file in question, or were there others as well? I notice that Good Olfactory hasn't been active for a few days, so if it's just the one image I'm thinking we might as well unprotect so that you can upload a local copy, and deal with any disagreements that may arise at a later date. – Luna Santin (talk) 20:06, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
- It is just the lone image. To be honest I don't even really want a local copy of the file itself. I just want to add a category to the image that is strictly on enwiki, as it is a category that is being used with the Ontario Roads wikiproject. Unfortunately that doesn't seem possible without having the file on en.wiki as well. - ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ τ ¢ 20:26, 13 October 2011 (UTC)

I moved ONint out of my userspace today. I also added the rowspans you wanted to the core, so you should review it. I did not pass through any of the new spans to ONint; I don't know what you want/need. –Fredddie™ 01:42, 22 October 2011 (UTC)
UPDATE
OK, core update today. I added |primary_topic=
and set it so that the only entry that will work is no. That being said, it's only really intended for the US, since we almost exclusively use City, State. So, we can now remove some of the workarounds added to ONint that were put in place because of primary topics. Unfortunately, a few links, like those for London, Ontario, now point to the other London... I added |ldab=
to ONint to fix that.
The good news is that we can start creating country-specific templates, such as {{DEUint}} or {{GBRint}}. –Fredddie™ 00:20, 28 December 2011 (UTC)
Toronto school photos
Hi! I might add some Toronto school photo requests soon.
Do you take photos in suburban municipalities as well?
WhisperToMe (talk) 17:39, 25 October 2011 (UTC)
- You may be best asking there as well as on my talk page, because I don't really check the request page very often. I can take pictures throughout most of Toronto, but I rarely head out to Etobicoke or Mississauga/Brampton. Vaughan is iffy, while Markham and Richmond Hill are no problem. I'll be out towards Pickering in the coming days, so if you have a request that-a-ways, fire away now! - ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ τ ¢ 17:48, 25 October 2011 (UTC)
- So far, here are my photo requests within Toronto:
- Conseil scolaire Viamonde head office - 116, Cornelius Parkway, Toronto ON, M6L 2K5
- Toronto Catholic District School Board head office - 80 Sheppard Avenue East, Toronto, Ontario, Canada
- Conseil scolaire de district catholique Centre-Sud head office - 110 Drewry Avenue Toronto (Ontario) M2M 1C8
- Have you already gone to Pickering?
- WhisperToMe (talk) 05:36, 30 October 2011 (UTC)
- Not yet... but the frost may mean I'm too late...
- Anyways, is the first one the same place as Centre De La Jeunesse Maison Montessori that is listed at that address on Google Maps, or is it a specific area of the building? The other two I will try to get this Tuesday or Wednesday when I can go by well after school has let out (thus not looking like a creeper). - ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ τ ¢ 05:44, 30 October 2011 (UTC)
- For the first - Whatever building the district administration is located in. In Houston I have some examples:
- File:Hisd-hmw-008.JPG, File:StaffordMSDAdmin.JPG, File:DonaldsonSonnyAdminBuilding.JPG, or File:FBISDAdmin.jpg
- However images of additional facilities at the site (like Centre De La Jeunesse Maison Montessori) would be appreciated too :)
- For Pickering, I have some ideas:
- Durham District School Board HQ: 400 Taunton Rd E Whitby, Ontario L1R 2K6
- Durham Catholic District School Board: The Catholic Education Centre: 650 Rossland Road West Oshawa, Ontario, L1J 7C4
- Thanks,

Hi Floydian. An edit summary like this is probably not a good idea. It takes away from your credibility as a neutral and serious editor, which I know that you are. Paul Erik (talk)(contribs) 03:39, 16 November 2011 (UTC)
UK roads
Could I also be clear that whilst WP:RJL offers no advice on how coordinates should be added to road junction lists - and you know fine well that that is the current state of affairs - you should not use RJL to further your personal dislike of coordinate columns.
To avoid further waste of our time, could I suggest that you desist from trying to own UK roads. By all means keep the US roads in the dark ages; I have no interest in them. Why not tolerate coords in UK roads, and let's see if anyone but you and your posse object? We've had precisely zero complaints or comments on other of the UK roads which have coord columns, suggesting that others who have the roads on their watchlists either approve or are indifferent. They tend to be four or five columns in width, and so there is not a space issue. --Tagishsimon (talk) 18:25, 16 November 2011 (UTC)

- She/He has not yet been involved in reverting UK motorway articles, so far as I've noticed. --Tagishsimon (talk) 18:52, 16 November 2011 (UTC)
- If you feel they are warranted and that you have consensus, get the change made at WP:RJL. Since you haven't gotten any consensus, and the majority of the users at the talk page of that guideline disagree with the notion of adding a separate column, you are going against an unwritten in policy, but clearly visible opposition of numerous editors. Not being able to achieve the consensus at one venue doesn't mean that you move on to trying to launch it on a variety of articles; and I probably wouldn't be far off in assuming that somewhere down the road you will go into phase 2 and start using these articles that you've added the column to as evidence to support the use of them.
- Also, claims of WP:OWNership are bogus at best and baseless at worst. I am free to edit road articles in any country. Though I only add content to Ontario, I am interested in maintaining the consistency on a global scale. Stick that in your pipe. - ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ τ ¢ 19:14, 16 November 2011 (UTC)
MD-200 Length
Although you are right in many cases, the milepost on the MD-200 Bridge over US-29 is 16.0, and the signs on MD-200 are posted and have been for some time now, list US-29 as Exits 16A and 16B (can be seen when driving under MD-200 on US-29), and the milepost on the bridge over I-95 is 19.0 and the signs on this section of MD-200 are also posted and have been for some time now, and list I-95 as Exits 19A, 19B, and 19C. Therefore, it appears that this easternmost section of MD-200 has Exit Numbers that are pretty close to (if not at) their corresponding mile posts numbers. Improving portal visibility on Wikipedia
- I think the idea of portal links being placed higher-up in articles would be functional toward increasing portal visibility, per your suggestions on the portal discussion page. Additionally, the addition of more categories to the portals, as you stated, is a good idea. I've started a new discussion with a specific focus upon increasing portal visibility on the portal discussion page here: Wikipedia talk: Portal - Ideas to increase portal visibility. — Northamerica1000(talk) 19:17, 19 November 2011 (UTC)
- My second idea was a little more complicated, and was more an idea of combining the portal system with the categorization system so that articles are automatically assigned to one or more portals, and a link to that portal could then automatically get inserted (similar to inline coordinates, perhaps with universal symbols along the same concept as the coloured article classes (an option in user preferences to change "From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia" to "A X-class article from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia") or the GA/FA symbols that appear at the top right of an article of that quality). - ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ τ ¢ 19:41, 19 November 2011 (UTC)

I notice that Reference No. 48 is a URL with square brackets but no title so it appears as nothing more than the square brackets. Many of the other references are bare URLs with no brackets and no title. I understand you have a tool for tidying up these references. Dolphin (t) 11:46, 27 December 2011 (UTC)
- Indeed. I'll go take a look now (but just as an fyi, the reference formatting isn't a GA criteria, I just like to have them done by then... other users may decide to be stubborn for whatever reason). Cheers, ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ τ ¢ 15:06, 27 December 2011 (UTC)
- Well, after two hours of work, one ref away from finishing, Firefox and its lovely tendency to autoupdate cause it to crash. It will be a long time before I make another attempt. - ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ τ ¢
- Thanks very much for all that. I acknowledge that formatting of references isn't part of the GA criteria but it certainly makes an article look so much more professional if readers can see some details about each source. Very best wishes. Dolphin (t) 04:20, 28 December 2011 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification
Hi. When you recently edited Ontario Highway 417, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Queen Elizabeth and William Mackenzie (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Road templates TUR-O and TUR-D
Hi! you modified the raod templates TUR-O and TUR-D so that no road sign color is visible. Eventhough you commented your reason I could not understand the difference to template "European route E" which shows still in green. Appreciate your explanaition. Cheers. CeeGee (talk) 07:56, 29 December 2011 (UTC)
- I assume that you forgot to reply to me. What about the various road marker templates with different colors? Most of them are referenced in related articles within the text. If I can receive no satisfactory respond, I'm gonna revert your last modifications. CeeGee (talk) 15:35, 7 January 2012 (UTC)
- My bad, I completely missed this. The issue here is WP:COLOR and WP:ACCESSIBILITY. By overriding the Wikipedia styling of links, its impossible to tell whether a link is a link, and whether its target is an existing article or redlink. All the other templates that do this need to be fixed as well (I only saw those two). Graphics should be used for the markers (keeping with MOS:FLAGICON)). Hope this helps clear things up. - ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ τ ¢ 17:17, 7 January 2012 (UTC)
