- I see this has now been created. Great job fixing it up and expanding it. For U.S. subjects we usually write dates month day, year. But that's a minor issue. It's interesting he taught in Clearwater before his college presidency. I swear I saw that he taught after his retirement but the dates don't jibe that way. Weird. - FloridaArmy that is the quality of article that you should be producing, given your editing history - not these half-baked drafts, which you include random referenced sentences, which are not clear as to their relevance. Rather than repeatedly pumping out these poor quality drafts and having them continually rejected you should take the time to ensure that they are properly written and formatted, so that they are worthy of being included as encyclopedic quality articles. You really should be taking pride in your work rather than trying to impress by the sheer volume of your contributions. Dan arndt (talk) 02:18, 11 December 2019 (UTC)
- I'm always happy to have help. Wikipedia is a collaborative enterprise not individual editors finishing articles.in draft space. I had a look at your work to compare and was shocked to find misrepresentations of sources, improper sourcing, sloppy writing, misinformation, and poor organization. Fortunately I was able to fix many of these issues, but a LOT of work remains to be done. Are you familiar with a saying about people who live in glass houses throwing stones? FloridaArmy (talk) 10:36, 11 December 2019 (UTC)
- Which just goes to show that your researching is just as shoddy as your editing/article creations. As neither articles you have been recently editing were either created by me or significant edited by me. So yes I can afford to make comments about almost all the recent drafts that you have created. Dan arndt (talk) 10:53, 11 December 2019 (UTC)
- Well your userpage displays a barnstar that thanks you "for the work you did" on those articles. Why do you proudly show off something that you say is false? Seems dishonest. FloridaArmy (talk) 10:57, 11 December 2019 (UTC)

Question: FA, why are you writing articles on figures as minor as this one? You have enough experience that you must know there will be problems if you go this close to the borderline. Do you actually like having them the subject of AfD discussions, and making work for reviewers like me- you know I have an almost irresistible temptation to try to improve borderline articles thta just possibly might become encyclopedia - worthy. I need to use it for those cases where the people are highly notable and the contributors unable to do the work properly by themselves. You don't need my guidance, really. You can be more selective yourself There's probably a few hundred 19th century Americans where more could be said than this. DGG ( talk ) 06:18, 12 December 2019 (UTC)
- User:DGG Answer: Because he's not a minor figure. He's a very important and prominent artist, photographer, and illustratrator who's work was part of important archeological expeditions, is part of major museum collections, is discussed in depth in reliable independent sources, and who some 80 years after his death was just recently the subject of a historical reenactment. This is all in the article and its citations. He meets GNG and all four criteria of Creative. This isn't the first time your judgment has been WAY off the mark DGG. I recall you rejected an article on Florida's secession convention as well, despite its historical significance and all the substantial coverage it received. For an experienced librarian I find the level of ignorance and misunderstandings in your statements and actions to be absolutely jaw droppingly dumbfounding. Are you serious? FloridaArmy (talk) 19:55, 12 December 2019 (UTC)
- I know I make errors. I have probably reviewed at least 30,000 articles at various stages. Nobody works with 100% accuracy. The way WP works, and the necessary speed for reviewing, the highest attainable accuracy in reviewing is probably something like 98% accuracy--it could be 99% if there were more time to work. I've never encountered anyone that good. I think I'm at about 95%, which may be about as good as anyone else who does my amount of work and is willing to deal with tricky or borderline articles. That means that I have probably made mistakes in about 1500 artucles. As a guess, 1 in 10 of them were serious mistakes, amounting to 150 articles over the 12 years.
- Fortunately, that does not mean that these articles were ended up actually decided wrong, because generally no one person decides. Even for clearly promotional articles, I just tag for speedy; another admin deletes. Even for drafts I think don't show notability , that doesn't mean they're deleted--indeed, it's deliberately set up that no draft can be deleted just for not indicating notability . There's always a chance to resubmit, and in most cases reviewers follow the practice I started and let someone else review the 2nd time.
- I make errors, to be sure. But I do not think I did here. There is some disputes that photographs taken as part of a collecting trip in that museums collection meet the requirement for work in a major museum. There have been afds decided either way. I do not see any significant critical coverage of her work from 3rd party sources. I do not see any major prizes. You assert he meets the standards of being regarded as an important figure or is widely cited by peers or successors, or is known for originating a significant new concept, theory, or technique, but I se no such evidence in the article. - Ah, just checked the history and that was another editor's addition–not your fault! Still, it's good to add a source to the NRHP website rather than third-party websites, as that's the authoritative source proving the site's notability. Blythwood (talk) 17:50, 30 December 2019 (UTC)
