Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution
[edit] Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from College and university rankings into Draft:International University Rankings. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution
. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. DanCherek (talk) 23:38, 14 April 2023 (UTC)
- Hi DanCherek, and thanks for checking in on me. I came across the page for 'College and university rankings' and thought that it was largely a marketing page for one of the rankings producers, QS, and I decided to write a more neutral version. After some pondering, I came to the conclusion that it is better to split the page into twe: one for international rankings and one for national ones. (The national rankings differ a lot from each other and are used in very different contexts, while international rankings are a lot more homogenous.) So I created one draft page for international university rankings and one for national rankings. And I want to make the original 'College and university rankings' into a branch page, or possibly a short page that explains the difference between national and international rankings and links to the two other pages.
- What do you think about this plan, and do you have any advice for how I should go about it? Fitzgunnar (talk) 09:02, 17 April 2023 (UTC)
