Sig and userpage

[edit]

Hi, would you like me to create a sig for you, or just start with a simple userpage? •Sean•gorter•(T) (P) 01:39, 31 October 2006 (UTC) [reply]

November Esperanza Newsletter

[edit]
Program Feature: Admin Coaching (needs coaches!)
Admin Coaching needs coaches!!! If you are an administrator, or even a generally experienced user, do consider signing up to be a coach.

Admin Coaching, now being coordinated by HighwayCello, is a program for people who want help learning some of the more subtle aspects of Wikipedia policy and culture. People are matched with experienced users who are willing to offer coaching. The program is designed for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.

What's New?
The Tutorial Drive is a new Esperanza program! In an effort to make complicated processes on Wikipedia easier for everyone, Esperanza working to create and compile a list of tutorials about processes here on Wikipedia. Consider writing one!
A discussion on how Esperanza relates to the encyclopedia has been started; please add your thoughts.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  • The list of proposed programs has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
  • There is now a new program: the Tutorial Drive! Consider writing a tutorial on something you are good at doing on Wikipedia.
  • The suggestion of adding a cohesive look to all the Esperanza pages is being considered; join the discussion if you are interested!
  • In order to make a useful interlanguage welcome template, those involved in translation projects will be asked what English Wikipedia policies are most important and confusing to editors coming from other language Wikipedias.
  • A discussion of Esperanza's role in Wikipedia is being held, with all thoughts of all Esperanzians wanted!
  • Shreshth91 informed everyone that he will be leaving the Esperanza council as life is rather busy; his spot will be filled by the runner up from the last election, HighwayCello.

Although having the newsletter appear on everyone's userpage is desired, this may not be ideal for everyone. If, in the future, you wish to receive a link to the newsletter, rather than the newsletter itself, you may add yourself to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Newsletter/Opt Out List.

St. Paul

[edit]

You say the article is long. I am in the process of shortening it. You also say that you are American. Forgive me but on this side of the Atlantic we think of America as having a north and a south and as have more than a dozen flags, consisting as it does not numerous nation states. I am glad that you are proud to be a member of one of those nation states. Meanwhile I will attempt to fix your problem with SP Roger Arguile 22:45, 4 November 2006 (UTC) [reply]

Aliens

[edit]

I removed your "over long" tag, mainly on the basis that Revenge of the Sith is a longer article that is also a "featured article". Aliens needs rewrites, there is a lot of "junk" in the article, but the length of it isn't an issue, it's just not entirely of good quality, especially with almost no sources. There are probably some better tags that "overly long" that it needs. Bignole 18:01, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for adding the new tag. I've seen far too many film articles get out of hand when fans starting adding every tiny bit of information they can think of. Alien looks good, even though it could use some more work. Sometimes when articles have been around for so long it takes some effort to get them into shape. There is a small group of us that have started trying to curve that problem by making sure the articles get the proper work they need in the beginning. Some of these are The Dark Knight (film) and Spider-Man 3. If you get a chance walk over and take a look at them. Thanks for understanding why I removed the tag, and taking the initiative to find a better one. Bignole 18:15, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, we just recently had Spidey 3 semi-protected because of tons of Anonymous users adding rumors and speculations to the article. That stuff can get out of hand; people forget that Wikipedia is not a forum where you can sit back and just chit chat about anything and include any rumor you can think of. Well, good luck to you and your editing. Bignole 18:24, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

St. Paul and the Monroe Doctrine

[edit]

Good Grief!!Roger Arguile 11:11, 6 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, yes, is courtesy one of the principles of WP? I fear that citizens of hte USA are not always sufficiently aware of the response to their nationalistic atttitudes.Roger Arguile 11:19, 6 November 2006 (UTC) [reply]

Vandalism

[edit]

Sorry for the vandalism to your userpage... I just thought your userpage was the sandbox... Please forgive me. ~~•Sean•gorter•(T) (P) 10:25, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

And I just noticed your signature was unlinked. If you would like a cool signature made for you, be sure to visit my signature shop! ~~•Sean•gorter•(T) (P) 10:27, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You have to visit the shop to get the signature. If I put a signature on the Main Page, and on the talk page there is no discussion on it, then I will be yelled at, like this: "You liar! You have a signature on your sig shop and yet there is no archive of the discussion! You *******!" So please visit the shop for the signature. And be sure to state what kind of signature you want. ~~•Sean•gorter•(T) (P) 10:37, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cut and paste moves

[edit]

I'm sure you figured it out already, but make sure when you move a page you use the "move" tab instead of cutting and pasting the content. This is so the authors are credited in the history tab. An example I found was GCC. Have a nice day, and thanks for your hard work on disambiguation pages :-)--Commander Keane 03:50, 23 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
