Fancruft
[edit]Hello admin. My question is regarding the issue of this topic. Are character appearances table/graph allowed to some extent, or should they be removed as they will only satisfy enthusiasts? For instance, some of the articles that contain this issue: List of Resident Evil characters, Characters of the Tekken series, and Characters of the Dead or Alive series. Also the fact that these graphs occupy so much space in the article. Kazama16 (talk) 12:59, 30 December 2024 (UTC)
- (talk page watcher) I don't know if there's an official consensus on that anywhere, but I'd personally consider them fancruft. Particularly ones like the Resident Evil ones, where there's so many characters that only appear in a single game. It's not particularly a helpful visual anyways... Sergecross73 msg me 14:51, 30 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Kazama16 I don't have any particular take on this. As per Serge, I don't think its something that has been explicitly discussed or formalized. You may want to go to WT:VG for more in-depth discussion. -- ferret (talk) 16:19, 30 December 2024 (UTC)
Retirement
[edit]Hi everyone! With 2025 rolling in, I've made the decision to generally retire from editing. I've got a lot going on, and I'm ready to step back and work on other things. I will almost certainly still make some edits here and there as I read various articles and spot typos and what not, but in general I will no longer be patrolling, checking watchlist (it's been wiped!) or participating in most WikiProject pages. I might not be quick to see any pings or new talk page messages. I had intended to do this with the New Year but I might not be online the next couple days so here we go. Thanks to everyone I've edited with over the last... counts... 17 years! -- ferret (talk) 17:49, 30 December 2024 (UTC)
- I hope you have a great time and great luck with everything you move on to. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 18:00, 30 December 2024 (UTC)
- I'm sorry to hear that, but I understand. Let me know if you ever need me to help with anything while unavailable to do it yourself. (I'll continue to be a talk page stalker too.) Sergecross73 msg me 18:12, 30 December 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for all your work for the encyclopedia and the community. -- asilvering (talk) 18:37, 30 December 2024 (UTC)

- Thanks for everything. Here's to a great 2025 for us all. - Shearonink (talk) 19:12, 30 December 2024 (UTC)
- Well, 2025 sucks already. I've removed the bit per your BN message, but I apologise I've been a little quick on the draw, so if you want it back, let me know.

- ferret, thank you. Thank you for WP:Discord, thank you for your service as an admin and CU, thank you for everything. If, someday, you find your way back to WP, we eagerly await your return. Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare cooperation
[edit]Thanks for help with combining my and WikiBenboy's input for "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare", and giving hints for further improvement (too much text dedicated solely to EGM): https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Call_of_Duty:_Infinite_Warfare&diff=prev&oldid=1035246620
which helped in creating this version: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Call_of_Duty:_Infinite_Warfare&diff=next&oldid=1044370108
This was a good coop, I believe.

PS5
[edit]Hi Ferret, thank you for your feedback. Some of my suggestions are now live and that is great. But there is still the info that the internal SSD uses the Nvme protocoll which is wrong. Also there is no info about the AI performance of the PS5 Pro GPU which is 300 TOPS 8 bit.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Dc coder 84 (talk • contribs)
- (talk page watcher) Hi there. Ferret just announced he's mostly retiring from editing, and I'm not even sure this is the sort of thing he'd normally be writing about, so I wouldn't wait up for an answer. From what I observed, I believe his main concern was that things were properly sourced, I don't think he particularly has stances/interest beyond that. Sergecross73 msg me 21:26, 3 January 2025 (UTC)
- And the article's talk page is the place to bring it up and post your sources :) -- ferret (talk) 21:38, 3 January 2025 (UTC)
