Why was Sleep Terror (band) deleted?
[edit]Hello Evil0verl0rd. This article was tagged {{db-band}} for speedy deletion on 11 April by User:Jdcooper. I reviewed the article as it was at the time and agreed that it did not assert the notability requirements set out in WP:MUSIC for inclusion in Wikipedia. As such, it was a valid deletion under Wikipedia's Speedy Deletion Policy. I hope that helps. --Cactus.man ✍ 10:37, 5 May 2006 (UTC)
Notability of Dramatic Chipmunk
[edit]A tag has been placed on Dramatic Chipmunk, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}}
on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. --Finngall talk 18:11, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

Re: About Dramatic Chipmunk
[edit]Hey there. Sorry for the delay in replying: I've been out for a while. Basically, the reason the article was deleted is that it makes no real assertion of how this video is notable. Specifically, you need to note that not every Youtube video that one of the many online humour sites has described as "the best" (or something along those lines) is going to justify a Wikipedia article. It needs something specific to set it apart. Wikipedia is just not an indiscriminate collection of information. I would say the fact that four admins have now decided the particular article does not assert notability should be something to take into account. If you can somehow set it apart from all the other hundreds of similar videos that rise to relative fame for a few weeks, then maybe it could have an article. However, at the moment I see absolutely no evidence of this at all. As another deleting admin said in their summary, memes should not be spread through Wikipedia. It is an encyclopedia. Also, the fact that you are so affixed upon getting an article on this specific video leads me to worry that you may have some kind of conflict of interest here, though I may be wrong. Anyway, I advise you to have a careful read of our notability guideline and would strongly suggest that this subject is probably not suitable for an article on Wikipedia. Your contributions here are, however, very welcome and I hope you will continue contributing in other areas. Regards. Will (aka Wimt) 23:52, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
