Northumbrian smallpipe

Hi, thanks for your comment, and sorry it's taken me a while to reply personally. I've commented on the issue on Talk:Northumbrian smallpipe, but I'll stress that I didn't realise it was a contentious issue, I just trying to improve the style and avoid repetition. I'll remember to check the history and talk pages in future before editing new articles! As for where the pipes are played, they're certainly played widely outside Northumbria - my dad makes them and he lives in Cumbria, and there are plenty of players in the US among other places, such as Dick Hensold. More relevant to the article is where they're from - the NPS homepage says they were developed in Newcastle and South Shields, so I guess 'Northumbria' is still better than 'Northumberland' to avoid confusion with the modern county. For the record the pipes on 'Fields of Gold' are played by Kathryn Tickell, who's from the North Tyne valley apparently. Hope this helps. Cheers, Blisco 22:19, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
