Disambiguation link notification for April 6
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Ursula Sladek, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages German and European. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, --DPL bot (talk) 06:04, 6 April 2024 (UTC)
Umar Lawal moved to draftspace
[edit]Thanks for your contributions to Umar Lawal. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability and it is promotional and reads like an advertisement. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.
Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Ratnahastin (talk) 11:16, 14 May 2024 (UTC)

Women in Green's October 2024 edit-a-thon
[edit]Hello Emmanuella643:
WikiProject Women in Green is holding a month-long Good Article Edit-a-thon event in October 2024!
Running from October 1 to 31, 2024, WikiProject Women in Green (WiG) is hosting a Good Article (GA) edit-a-thon event with the theme Around the World in 31 Days! All experience levels welcome. Never worked on a GA project before? We'll teach you how to get started. Or maybe you're an old hand at GAs – we'd love to have you involved! Participants are invited to work on nominating and/or reviewing GA submissions related to women and women's works (e.g., books, films) during the event period. We hope to collectively cover article subjects from at least 31 countries (or broader international articles) by month's end. GA resources and one-on-one support will be provided by experienced GA editors, and participants will have the opportunity to earn a special WiG barnstar for their efforts.
We hope to see you there!

[edit]Categories
[edit]Please familiarize yourself with how Wikipedia categories work.
Firstly, we do not duplicate-categorize pages in categories that are parents of other categories that the same page is already in. If a page is already in Category:Yoruba names, then do not also file it in Category:Nigerian names at the same time — because Category:Yoruba names is already a subcategory of Category:Nigerian names, a page is already in the Nigerian category by virtue of being in the Yoruba category, so it does not need to be directly filed in the parent category at the same time as being in the child category.
Secondly, articles also must not be filed in any category that has the words "by language" in it. Those are container categories to help people "Specific-language name" subcategories, and are not meant to be used on any individual article.
I've had to clean this stuff up over and over again several times in the past several weeks. So please categorize the articles correctly, because you're making a lot of unnecessary work for other people to fix. Thanks. Bearcat (talk) 17:07, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
- Duly noted, Your feedback is helpful, and I’ll be mindful to categorize articles correctly to avoid creating unnecessary work for other people to fix. Thanks. Emmanuella643 (talk) 17:59, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
Using unreliable sources
[edit]Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. However, please do not use unreliable sources such as blogs, wikis, personal websites, and websites and publications with a poor reputation for checking the facts or with no editorial oversight. These sources may express views that are widely acknowledged as pushing a particular point-of-view, sometimes even extremist, being promotional in nature, or relying heavily on rumors and personal opinions. One of Wikipedia's core policies is that contributions must be verifiable through reliable sources, preferably using inline citations. If you require further assistance, please look at Help:Menu/Editing Wikipedia, or ask at the Teahouse. Thank you. Fram (talk) 11:57, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for pointing this out, all sources were added in good faith not with the intention of sabotaging or going against the Wikipedia standard.
- I will review the sources and make necessary amendments. Thank you. Emmanuella643 (talk) 16:44, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
- I'd like to ask if it is possible for you to highlight the articles for name that I created which was unreliably sourced, so I could fix and do a proper clean up. Apologies for any inconvenience caused. Thank you. Emmanuella643 (talk) 17:02, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
- For example, in Ayokunle, you use yorubaname.com, which is a wiki, a crowd-sourced repository (not unlike Wikipedia), not a reliable source. Venere.it seems to be AI-generated, not reliable. Nigeriandictionary.com seems to be another crowd-sourced platform. Namecensus.com at first seems more reliable (though in parts rather close to veneri.it), but I presume it has been AI-generated as well. On that page, the source is this, which lists as notable bearers of Ayokunle e.g. "Ayokunle Olumide Ogunfolaju", who seems to be completely unknown[1]. Similarly, I can't find any evidence that "Ayokunle Bamgboye" as described was real or important, and there is also no trace of minister of transport "Ayokunle Oladeji Aremu" or the warrior "Ayokunle Oguntoyinbo". Now, I can imagine that many famous Nigerians have little online presence, but not a single trace for all four of them stretches my credulity a bit. Ask Oracle is another AI generated source. And Howtopronounce is another crowd-sourced website. So it seems as if none of these 6 sources are actually reliable sources. Fram (talk) 17:27, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you so much for your time and the clarification, I just checked and confirmed what you've said Is profound. I have removed the previous sources added to Ayokunle and added a single source.
- However, could you please check and confirm if the source I just added is considered reliable enough. Emmanuella643 (talk) 17:50, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
- That seems to be a random blog, not a WP:RS. Usually, to be considered a reliable source, you need newspaper or magazine articles written by actual, independent journalists (not press releases or the like), or entries in books from reputable publishers (not self-publishers like lulu.com, or the many books repeating Wikipedia), or well-established websites by recognised authorities on the subject (e.g. a Yoruba linguistics professor), or something similar. WP:RS explains this better and more thoroughly. Fram (talk) 17:59, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
- I did a quick run on Google scholar but I was unable to find a research work or journal that could back up the article. So I'd request you delete the article, as i do not have the right to do so.
- Thank you, for quite the insightful feedbacks. Emmanuella643 (talk) 18:52, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
