[edit]Hey Lq1i, thanks for the suggestions! I've made some changes according to what you wrote:
Thanks for pointing out that the first image is too big. I wasn't seeing that on my end for some reason, but it should be fixed now.
I've incorporated the term "stationary phase" into my lead section without the parentheses now. As for using UV-light to visualize colourless spots, I've decided to keep it as-is because colour is specific to the visible light range.
I have re-named the technique section to be "Procedure", as you recommended. I have also made each step sub-headings instead of point forms. Separation process is also its own heading now.
For the separation process and principle section, I changed "competing for binding sites" back to the original sentence (more-so about solubility). Although competing for binding sites is still the basis of separation, solubility may be easier to understand for the general public. I wanted to avoid using the term "affinity" because it feels a bit jargon-y.
I removed the "resulting in" in "resulting in higher Rf" because it feels unnecessary to me. However, for clarity, I have put it back in for higher Rf. To keep it concise, and remove redundancies, I left it out for smaller Rf.
I'm not sure where you're seeing a run-on sentence, but I'll double check everything before I move the final copy over. I have also changed all instances of "solvent system" to "solvent mixture". I feel it's necessary to differentiate single solvent and multiple solvent eluents, but solvent system is probably harder to understand for the general public.
The plate preparation section under technique is referring to how to run a TLC plate. The second plate preparation section is how plates are actually made. I have re-named the second section to "Plate Production".
I have re-phrased the reaction monitoring section.
