Speedy deletion nomination of File:LC-cad 1.png
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:LC-cad 1.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. ww2censor (talk) 05:06, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
File copyright problem with File:RCSC Master Seaman.png
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:RCSC Master Seaman.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. ww2censor (talk) 05:06, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
Copyright problems with Chilliwack Cultural Centre
[edit]Hello. Concerning your contribution, Chilliwack Cultural Centre, please note that Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted text or images obtained from other web sites or printed material, without the permission of the author(s). This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.chilliwacktoday.ca/?cat=1910 and http://www.constructioncanada.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=427&Itemid=439. As a copyright violation, Chilliwack Cultural Centre appears to qualify for deletion under the speedy deletion criteria. Chilliwack Cultural Centre has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message.
If you believe that the article or image is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the Creative Commons Attribution/Share-Alike License (CC-BY-SA) then you should do one of the following:
- If you have permission from the author, leave a message explaining the details at Talk:Chilliwack Cultural Centre and send an email with the message to permissions-enwikimedia.org. See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
- If a note on the original website states that it is licensed under the CC-BY-SA license, leave a note at Talk:Chilliwack Cultural Centre with a link to where we can find that note.
- If you hold the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-enwikimedia.org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the CC-BY-SA and GFDL, and note that you have done so on Talk:Chilliwack Cultural Centre.
However, for textual content, you may simply consider rewriting the content in your own words. While contributions are appreciated, Wikipedia must require all contributors to understand and comply with its copyright policy. Wikipedia takes copyright concerns very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Thank you. Hairhorn (talk) 22:23, 13 December 2010 (UTC)
FYI conflict of interest notice
[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:
- editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
- participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
- linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.
For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. Hairhorn (talk) 03:15, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
Chilliwack Cultural Centre
[edit]Wikipedia isn't really supposed to be a place where we simply repost material written by organizations' own marketing departments. The core inclusion rule on here is that our content needs to be referenced to reliable sources that are independent of the topic itself — such as newspaper or magazine articles or radio/TV coverage about the centre, or a book by a local historian about the history of the centre, that sort of thing. In fact, we strongly discourage organizations from simply having their own marketing departments repost the kind of profile they might publish on the "about us" page of their own website — not just because of the copyright issue, but also because we're trying to be an independent reference rather than a press release distributor.
I'm willing to restore the page for you, but I'd ask you to consider two things:
- You would need to submit an e-mail through the WP:OTRS process confirming that the organization grants Wikipedia permission to use the content. It's not enough that you have organizational permission to post it; we need to have a record confirming that we have the permission to use it.
- You would also need to understand that by the nature of what Wikipedia is, other people would have the right to further modify the article by adding references, changing wording, reformatting how it's displayed, and on and so forth. As long as their changes follow Wikipedia's rules and aren't frivolous or inappropriate, neither Wikipedia nor the Chilliwack Cultural Centre would have any particular right to enforce the "original" version over the modified one. For example, we'd obviously revert it if some goofy teenager replaced the entire article with the words "MONKEY POOP!" — but if somebody replaced it with a quality article whose only flaw was that it wasn't the centre's own "approved" text anymore, their version would be allowed to stand.
If you're okay with both of those things, then I'm willing to restore the page — but if either one of them is a problem for you, then you'd be better off waiting for somebody else to decide that you're a topic worth writing about. Hope that helps a bit. Bearcat (talk) 18:16, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
- Okay, fair enough. I'll restore the page momentarily. Bearcat (talk) 18:53, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
Update regarding copyright concern
[edit]Since we do not yet have verification of permission by the process set out above (see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for more) and sufficient time has passed since the placement of the notice, the content has been deleted for copyright concerns. This deletion is not necessarily permanent. If you have already sent a letter to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the Creative Commons Attribution/Share-Alike License (CC-BY-SA) and GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) (if you are not the copyright holder or have co-authored the material, release under CC-BY-SA-compatible license alone is sufficient), the content can be restored when that letter is received and processed by the Wikimedia Communications committee. Likewise, if you have not yet sent a letter, you still may (or resend it, if you believe your original may have been lost), and the article will be restored when that letter is received and processed.
As Wikipedia does not require proof of identity on account creation, it is essential that we receive external proof of authorization in order to ensure that we remain compliant with US Copyright law. It is also essential that we verify that copyright holders understand the extent of the release they are authorizing, in that our licenses permit modification and reuse in any forum, even commercial publication, as long as authorship credit is maintained and future copies are compatibly licensed.
Please note that once permission is verified, the material may be evaluated and altered to meet Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Although we appreciate donations, we cannot guarantee that material donated will be retained.
Thank you. Moonriddengirl (talk) 15:48, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
Ron Huebner moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, Ron Huebner, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.
