This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing for running unapproved bot scripts, according to checkuser data.
Under the bot policy, all automated scripts must be approved by the Bot Approvals Group to ensure that they perform safe and useful functions without stressing system resources.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please review Wikipedia's guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  ~ ToBeFree (talk) 00:36, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • User:ToBeFree, thanks--I had no idea. Perhaps that explains the alternate account; perhaps they will respond and explain. Drmies (talk) 00:41, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, thanks from me too: your message was very helpful; I didn't think about running a check before I saw it. Yeah, I hope so too. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 00:43, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I created this account to keep better track of script assisted updating of about 120 pages, one time pass.
I checked the bot policy and this seemed not to be a bot, but a script, as I don't post any changes until I approve them manually.
Sorry if I violated any policies, I was just trying to do a good job as a Wikipedia editor who's still learning.
Thank you for understanding! Demogstef (talk) 01:12, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much for the clarification, Demogstef. This is fine! If you manually approve each edit, you don't need a bot request for approval. You should disclose the connection to your main account on your user page, however. Please take a moment to create your user page by clicking your currently-red name; the user page should mention which main account is behind this secondary account, and it should probably explain that you're not running a bot but approve each edit manually before it is made. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 01:21, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2024 Elections voter message

[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2024 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:55, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
