Armenian seasons

[edit]

Hi Klio, I've noticed that you are the creator of a lot of league season articles such as this 2016–17 FC Pyunik season. I appreciate the work put into these articles but, sadly, a lot of them don't seem to demonstrate WP:GNG; in particular the sources do not show WP:SIGCOV "Significant coverage" addresses the topic directly and in detail, so that no original research is needed to extract the content. Significant coverage is more than a trivial mention, but it does not need to be the main topic of the source material. Since you are likely more familiar with Armenian news sources, do you think there is potential for the articles to have well-sourced prose so that they then meet GNG? Kind regards Spiderone 16:02, 11 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Spiderone, I'll look into adding additional sources and structure to the articles to improve their GNG.--Klio654 (talk) 11:19, 12 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I've noticed a big change here already 2015–16 FC Alashkert season with some well sourced prose. I would say it passes GNG that one. I think if all of the Armenian season articles can be raised to a standard near that one then they can be kept on here. We might even be able to bring back the FC Gandzasar Kapan articles if the same in-depth sources exist and can be found. Spiderone 14:55, 12 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Scotland under-21 clubs

[edit]

No, you wouldn't have to add Ayr or Dumbarton to Ross McCrorie's clubs, because he wasn't with either of them when he played for Scotland U21s. Jmorrison230582 (talk) 14:36, 22 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Career stats tables

[edit]

Hi there. Regarding your edit at Dejan Tetek and numerous others to Reading players, there is no need to add a total row for a club in the career stats table if they have only played for one club. Many thanks, Microwave Anarchist (talk) 15:09, 12 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Motherwell FC

[edit]

Are you a Motherwell fan? Or just Scottish football in general? Govvy (talk) 15:57, 21 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Just a Motherwell fan for Scottish football. Klio654 (talk) 17:59, 21 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I was wondering if you have any books/material on Motherwell, if you know anything about Willie Newbigging time there? Looking at your contrib, it seems to be all over the place know!! So I don't really know. Cheers. Govvy (talk) 12:07, 22 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Ahh ok, I don't have anything on him unfortunately, haven't gone to much into the history that far back. Yeah I mostly just look and edit based on clubs that grab my interest. Klio654 (talk) 17:52, 22 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

On reverting my recent edit

[edit]

I am aware that he was a free agent before he was signed but his previous club was indeed NYCFC and it was during the off-season that this transaction took place, after NYCFC ended their season. I was trying to mention the previous club that he played before being signed into CSKA Moscow, which is common practice when mentioning the club that a player previously played. 20chances (talk) 08:19, 21 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, totally get what you are saying, but it doesn't change that he was a free agent when he signed for CSKA, as mentioned as such in their press release.
I've added into the season summary that he'd previously played for NYCFC and left after his contract expired. Klio654 (talk) 08:36, 21 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I understand. However, what should we remedy with? If I was you, I rather want to add something than just leaving it as "unintached". I still suggest leaving in his previous club. 20chances (talk) 09:07, 21 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Personally I think it's fine as at the time of signing he had no affiliation to NYCFC, therefore it would be incorrect to have him as signing from that club.
The problem I see of putting the last club of a player who is a free agent at the time of signing is, when do you have the cut off between his previous club and free agent? Sure it kind of makes sense if the player has been released from a club for a matter of days or a couple of weeks to show who he previously was playing for, but if a player has been without a club for say 6 months do you still put his previous club in? Klio654 (talk) 09:32, 21 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
But how about mentioning it as a note? Aside from leaving it as is. I mean, he's not with a club for less than 2 months. 20chances (talk) 09:35, 21 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It's mentioned in the body of text further up on the page, this is suffice.
This is my point, how does some decide on the time frame between showing their last club and not?
The only consistent and logical way is to go by their contract. Medina's ended with NYCFC at the end of 2021, he became a free agent and then signed with CSKA in a few weeks into 2022, he had no affiliation with NYCFC at this point so it would be incorrect to label him as having so. Klio654 (talk) 09:43, 21 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
So.... leave it is? Look, I know I sometimes feel dumb about it given that every page of every club has very somewhere different formats 20chances (talk) 18:36, 21 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I've added a note that shows previous club, personally I don't think it's needed, but you may be correct in it adding clarity.
Don't feel dumb about it, frustrating pages having so many styles, better to enter into conversation as to why they are the way they are than not! Klio654 (talk) 19:53, 21 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work.
