Scott Morrison and French President

[edit]

Hi DTH89, I am responding to your deletion of my content: You wrote "Not really relevant, and Twitter isn't really a reliable source"
1. Regarding: "Twitter isn't really a reliable source"

I think you may not be aware of who Bevan Shields is

  • The twitter reference was to Bevan Shields.
  • Bevan Shield is the editor of the Sydney Morning Herald,
  • Bevan Shield is a "Blue Tick" account.
  • Bevan Shield is the person in the video
  • Bevan Shield is the person asking the questions.
  • Wikipedia pages have many links to twitter pages.

If you would like, I can add further references to the content, I can suggest multiple news sites such as, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, The Guardian, The ABC, The BBC.

2. Regarding "Not really relevant",

  • AUKUS could not happen if Australia did not cancel the contract.
  • The breaking of the contract with France for the most expensive military purchse/contract is a very significant event
  • Both events are joined and neither event can be understood without the other event

Noting the concerns, you have raised are not related to accuracy or other significant concern, I am confident this can be resolved quickly.

While I know you deleted my content without first talking to me, I would prefer to wait a day before I reinstate my changes.

Regards

Harry

Hey mate, The reason I and another user, Skyring, reverted your edits is because it deviated quite a bit from the subject in question. How are t-shirts really relevant to the dissolution of a defence treaty? Also, the sources you linked were not too reliable. Twitter, YouTube, Redbubble and Hypertshirt aren't really sources that should be used for this section. I'm sure you had the right idea, just cut out some of the irrelevant riff-raf about t-shirts and whatnot and make the sentences a little bit more to the point. Don't bury the lede, as they say, just stick to important details, and in this case t-shirts and the French Ambassador aren't really pertinent to the AUKUS treaty. Thanks, DTH89 DTH89 (talk) 13:09, 2 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please explain why adding a censored list in the List of Banned Video Games in Australia is irrelevant

[edit]

I believe that since the article deals with a form of video game censorship (banning), adding a subtopic that's less milder (censorship/moderation) is only fitting. Saint Lucifer Write (talk) 13:43, 10 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there. The problem I had with that section with that section is that it just seemed very meandering, especially when it talked about how some games are listed as "modified" but aren't. That seems like something that could be placed in the Australian Classification Board article page, not this one. Also the fact that the paragraphs were not correctly formatted with large gaps in between them, and no italics for game titles. This may seem pedantic, but it really made the section stick out like a sore thumb and I found it quicker to delete it than fix it. If something is not presented well, it makes someone less likely to want to fix it. I apologise for not giving a better reason when I originally reverted, and you are free to rewrite the section back into the page, but just try to improve it. Maybe cut the whole spiel about some games being listed as censored but in reality they aren't, and just focus on notable game censorship in Australia. I am also happy to help if you would like. Regards, DTH89(sexy talk page) 1:51, 11 August 2020 (UTC)

I think you misunderstood my understanding of "modified" games. What I was trying to write was that even though certain games are supposed to be uncensored, they're still ultimately censored, at least according to the classification website. My goal was not to criticize the website but to notify readers to double-check just to make sure that what they think is an uncensored game might in fact be censored. It appears you seem to think the opposite is true, that some of the games that are listed as modified are in fact not modified. However, since I haven't compared these games side by side, I can't guarantee whose interpretation is right or wrong. Maybe you could tell me what's actually going on with these games?

I know the paragraphs had inappropriate spacing, & I tried to fix them myself, but I couldn't since I'm new to editing Wikipedia & was hoping someone else would do it for me.

I don't think it's necessary to italicize video game titles, since I've never seen it before. Where exactly is games italicized in Wikipedia? Saint Lucifer Write (talk) 10:51, 12 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, so my sticking point is that even though the website listed them as modified, other sources either did not verify this, or contradict it. An example of this is GTA V, listed as modified on the official OFLC website. Despite this, other reputable websites list that Australia did not receive a censored version (as seen here, 1). I think that the reason that it has been listed as modified, is because it is a remaster for next generation consoles, therefore it is a different version from the original submitted in 2013, which is listed as the original version. However, whatever way you shake it, it is speculation, and speculation doesn't belong on Wikipedia. The OFLC website is a good site to use for finding ratings for films and games, but sometimes it isn't always accurate and does not provide full details. In future, I recommend that you also use the website Refused-Classification.com to further your research, as it includes official ratings decisions, interviews and articles that are not all featured on the official Australian rating website, and therefore tells a more complete story.

Also, using italics for titles is commonplace on Wikipedia, all films, games, books, TV shows, albums etc. are to use italics. You can read more about this at MOS:ITALICS. I understand you are new to Wikipedia, and I wish you good luck in your editing. As I said before, I am also happy to help you re-write and improve this section if you need some help. DTH89 (talk) 11:30, 12 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

So would you say this page ( https://www.refused-classification.com/censorship/games/a-to-z-listing.html ) is a better source to find out if a game is censored/modified?

Also, the official classification website states that The Last of Us is also modified, though the website I linked above makes no mention of this. Is it also described as "modified" because it's a remastered edition? Saint Lucifer Write (talk) 11:42, 14 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use Pay-Per-View images

[edit]

Hello and well met. I am JeyReydar97 and I am writing to ask for some help with the steps in the process of uploading with claim of fair use. I began creating articles of major events promoted by World Wonder Ring Stardom since March last year and I need some guidance in uploading the official images of the pay-per-views. For example, I noticed you contributed a little with the image of Revolution (2022). Can you please help me out? Or aleast tell me how possible it is? Best regards. (talk) 01:05, 7 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi mate, So uploading posters for PPV events is really quite simple honestly, all you need to upload an image of the poster through the File Upload Wizard, and select "Upload a non-free file". Attach the image, and make sure you select the option "This is a copyrighted, non-free work, but I believe it is Fair Use" when you are providing copyright information. For the free-use rationale, select "official cover art of work" and then "official poster of an event". Make sure you provide a source and all the pertinent information that the form will ask you to fill out. As long as indicate the poster that you're uploading is not your work, and provide enough fair use rationale. Do all this, you should be ok. Thanks for the message and let me know if you need anything else. DTH89 (talk) 10:11, 7 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, DTH89. I noticed that your recent edit to Leaders of the Australian Labor Party added a link to an image on an external website or on your computer, or to a file name that does not exist on Wikipedia's server. For technical and policy reasons it is not possible to use images from external sources on Wikipedia. Most images you find on the internet are copyrighted and cannot be used on Wikipedia, or their use is subject to certain restrictions. If the image meets Wikipedia's image use policy, consider uploading it to Wikipedia yourself or request that someone else upload it. See the image tutorial to learn about wiki syntax used for images. Why would you use 'them' when there's clearly only one guy? 188.224.52.94 (talk) 08:46, 16 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This is nearly a 3 year old edit. Why? Also them can be used even if there's only one person, it can be used as a plural and also as a singular. DTH89 (talk) 11:50, 16 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
In which case would you use them for singular?
On the screen capture it's clearly a single male.
