[edit]

Hi, thanks for your work on the English Wikipedia. Please note that years, dates, and common terms (including commonly recognised countries and geographical names) are not normally linked. Please ask me if you have any questions. Tony (talk) 14:14, 22 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

They were merely pulled into WikiMedia Commons or reformatted into more sophistocated diagrams under a different title, but thanks. Perhaps it is time to get rid of all that red. And thanks for checking up on me to make sure that I'm still alive :) -- have a great day! DRosenbach (Talk | Contribs) 02:25, 4 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, I checked them myself to see the deletion reason, but whatever the case, you can see why it wouldn't make sense to have read lynx. :) Enigmamsg 03:06, 4 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Notifying user about missing file description(s) (bot - disable)

[edit]

File:Jonathan Rietti PHOTO2.jpg missing description details

[edit]
Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as:

is missing a description and/or other details on its image description page. If possible, please add this information. This will help other editors make better use of the image, and it will be more informative to readers.

If the information is not provided, the image may eventually be proposed for deletion, a situation which is not desirable, and which can easily be avoided.

If you have any questions, please see Help:Image page. Thank you. Theo's Little Bot (error?) 22:51, 12 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:StevenIWeiss.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:StevenIWeiss.jpg, which you've attributed to Steven I. Weiss. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 16:59, 27 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Notification of automated file description generation

[edit]

Your upload of File:ACchargers.jpg or contribution to its description is noted, and thanks (even if belatedly) for your contribution. In order to help make better use of the media, an attempt has been made by an automated process to identify and add certain information to the media's description page.

This notification is placed on your talk page because a bot has identified you either as the uploader of the file, or as a contributor to its metadata. It would be appreciated if you could carefully review the information the bot added. To opt out of these notifications, please follow the instructions here. Thanks! If you have a minute, and the inclination, can you take a look at Ken Hebel, I tripped across it while redoing dental implant. It seems like self promotion and a poorly referenced BLP. The creating user is shebel13 who's put an exact copy of the page on their own user page. The problem is I know the person and don't feel objective in marking it one-way or another. I would appreciate a look from a NPOV. Ian Furst (talk) 01:24, 29 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Do you know how to submit info to OTRS? I've received pictures of regenerative endo from Ken Hargreaves (author of Pathways of the Pulp) for our article. I can upload them but I'm not sure how to submit the info that we release them. Ian Furst (talk) 19:54, 17 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Sure! Email me and I'll send you the address and info you need to submit. You can do so by going to my userpage and clicking on the link on the left within "tools" called "email this user" -- and I recommend you activate this feature for your own account. Do so here: [1]. The article 24/6: A Jewish Theater Company has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:GNG due to lack of significant coverage.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hi Dr. Rosenbach. I have a financial connection with Invisalign, which I am preparing for a Good Article nomination. On the Talk page I have shared a draft of the remaining content I think would be needed to make it GAN-ready. While most of the article is business-oriented, this section involves medical claims and mostly summarizes the two review articles available in PubMed that are less than five years old. I started looking through participants in WikiProject Dentistry and you are the only one I found so far that is still actively editing! If you have time to take a look at the discussion and draft and participate there, it would be greatly appreciated. CorporateM (Talk) 20:17, 18 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for ranking the article! I wanted to make sure you knew I was referring to the discussion at the very bottom of the Talk page regarding a "Comparison" section under the title GA preparation. The rest of the article was implemented back in July. I wasn't sure if you just hadn't looked at it yet or if I had left things confusing, since I used the same draft space. License tagging for File:DSeid.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:DSeid.png. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. File source problem with File:DS Headshot 2014.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:DS Headshot 2014.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. B (talk) 12:03, 5 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Review article?

[edit]

Hi DRosenbach.

I'm a consultant hired by LRN to work on a Wikipedia article about them and I've created a draft at Draft:LRN. Working on articles with a WP:COI is actually something I specialize in. I try to be very careful to disclose my COI on the Talk page, abide by WP:NPOV, reliable sourcing and other Wikipedia policies. I've published many Wikipedia article this way. I write a lot more about myself on my use page: User:BC1278

As you know, one of the things you have when you have a COI when you create or edit an article it to have an independent reviewer go over everything. So I've placed Draft:LRN in the AFC space.

But I thought you might be interested in being the reviewer since I know you already did a lot of research into Dov Seidman when you wrote the article about him. Any interest?

Cheers,

Ed

Proposed deletion of Assassin (2015 film)

[edit]

The article Assassin (2015 film) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

While difficult to research because of the commonality of the name, could find nothing on any of the search engines which shows this film passes WP:NFILM or WP:GNG. There is a film by this name which came out in 2015, but it is not this film.

A tag has been placed on File:BenShapiro.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://ktth.com/2014/01/03/ben-shapiro-joins-ktth/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Orthodontics

[edit]

Hi there! I wanted to reach out to someone in the dental community as I'm one of the dentist editors here on Wikipedia. In past 9 months, I've created 70 or so articles. Majority of them are about Orthodontics and some about dentistry. I'd like to be involved int he Dentistry Project on a bigger scale then just an editor. It seems like majority of the users are not active anymore and there are only few contributors. How can i help make things more organized? (talk) 15:48, 06 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there to you, too, and thanks for reaching out! The dental project is welcomes you -- just add your name to the list on the participants page -- if you would like help with that, please let me know. As far as the organization, it's pretty loose. This is not a school where we assign tasks, and everyone is free to do as they please, and hopefully in a constructive fashion at all times. I'm not involved in any other projects, so I'm not sure how other projects work.
If you'd like to organize your articles better, you might think about creating some templates to place within the articles -- this way, viewers can more readily jump from one to the other within the same category (such as "great innovators in orthodontics") without having to know the names of the individuals off hand. Again, if you'd like help with that, please let me know. It's actually quite simple, and with just a bit of copying and pasting and a little figuring out of the HTML codes, you'll probably figure it out more easily than you initially thought you would, even though at first it might appear daunting.
Again, let me know if you have any other questions. DRosenbach (Talk | Contribs) 00:40, 7 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

ThoughtAudio Review Request

[edit]

I am seeking independent and neutral viewpoints on the article ThoughtAudio, which is being considered for deletion. If you have a few minutes to review it, I would appreciate your article contributions and opinion on the decision as to whether it merits being retained and improved, or deleted. ThoughtAudio was targeted by the same editor that made a failed attempt to delete the wikiquote article Michael Scott Gallegos. There are only 3 reviews/votes so far. I am hoping that a minority viewpoint as to the worthiness of the article will not prevail. My work is mainly in the creation of new wikiquote articles @ELApro and time is rarely spent in unproductive controversy. I am a long time editor for Wikipedia, but have not created many articles here. I would much appreciate your advice and/or contributions with regard to the process. If I understand correctly the amora is שימי בר חייא so should the title not be Shimi bar Chiya/Hiya/Hiyya? Note he seems to be a student of Rav since it says in Yoma he sat in front of Rav. DGtal (talk) 09:18, 12 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Naming conventions are weird, sometimes. Take Mordechai ben David, for example. Why does he pick a transliterated first name but an anglicized secondary? Similar examples exist where one of two names is derived and placed into English in a different way than another. So I suppose it can be Hiya, but there are no conventions on Wikipedia like there are in a formal journal. Articles are written by the person who started them, and even then, there are inconsistencies within articles. So uses of the words shulchan aruch v shulkhan arukh or chai present non-uniform spellings. DRosenbach (Talk | Contribs) 15:58, 12 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hiya is the minor problem here that can be dealt with through redirects. My question was actually about Simi, wonering why you chose that transliteration, perhaps based on one of the English language translations. DGtal (talk) 22:15, 12 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Google it and you'll see that it's Simi, not Shimi. It's a sin, not a shin. DRosenbach (Talk | Contribs) 02:49, 14 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Google isn't a very good source for this type of info. I think the most relevant sources are the different translations of the Talmud into English, new and old. I wouldn't be surprised to discover both transliterations exist. DGtal (talk) 09:33, 18 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
You don't have to tell me that google is not a good source of information. However, if you google and find something meaningful, that's good enough. Google is not a primary source, but a clearinghouse of information. I found something for you, but it was a PDF download, and so couldn't send you a link. • If you have not submitted (or forwarded) a statement of permission, please send it immediately to permissions-en@wikimedia.org and let us know at the OTRS noticeboard that you have done so.
  • If you have already sent this message, it is possible that there was a problem receiving it. Please re-send it to permissions-en@wikimedia.org and let us know at the OTRS noticeboard that you have done so.

If we don't hear from you within one week, the file will be deleted. If we can help you, please feel free to ask at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 14:39, 23 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Please attribute or claim media you uploaded or restored: File:Stippling SSF.jpg

[edit]

You uploaded or restored , File:Stippling SSF.jpg, but for various reasons did not add an {{information}} block, or indicate your (user) name on the file description page. Media uploaded to Wikipedia needs information on the SPECIFIC authorship and source of files, to ensure that it complies with copyright laws in various jurisdictions.

If it's entirely your own work, please include {{own}} in the relevant source field, amend the {{information}} added by a third party, ensuring that your user name (or name you want used for attribution) is clear in the author field, and change the license to an appropriate "self" variant (if such a license is not already used). You should also add an |author= parameter to the license tag, to assist reviews and image patrollers. You can also add |claimed=yes and an |author=to the {{media by uploader}} or {{presumed_self}} tag if it is present to indicate that you've acknowledged the image, and license shown (and updated the {{information}} where appropriate).

If it's not entirely your own work, then please update the source and authorship fields, so that they accurately reflect the source and authors of the original work(s), as well as the derivative you created. You should also not use a "self" license unless the work is entirely you own. Media that is incorrectly claimed as self or {{own}}, will eventually be listed at Files for Discussion or deleted, unless it's full status is entirely clear to other contributors, reviewers and image patrollers.

Whilst this notification, relates to a single media upload, it would also be appreciated if you could ensure that appropriate attribution exists for other media you uploaded, You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

It's okay to remove or strike this message once the issue has been resolved :).

No RS coverage (closest is Columbia University magazine, where he's a student).

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Yeshiva V'Kollel Beis Moshe Chaim, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Howard Johnson (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 08:50, 18 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

encyclopedic style

[edit]

I want to express my appreciation for your work in dealing with this field, where so many of the earlier articles were essentially advertising. But while checking Gingival grafting, I noticed that some parts of it did not have a formal tone. Usually you are careful not to address the patient directly, for example, "using your own blood ", should be "using the patient's own blood". I also noticed that several papers or mentions of individuals did not have an attached reference, or were in the form ((Kennedy and Dorfman et al.) , but thee were no papers by them in the references. I don'; mean to pick on details , but your work is considered an example for others working on the subject. DGG ( talk ) 22:40, 20 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Oh no...by all means!
But I did not write the article. All I did so far was redirect because there was some confusion and lack of clarity between gingival graft and gingival grafting.

A tag has been placed on Baruch Simon, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". A tag has been placed on File:Alissa Thomas-Newborn.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement of https://web.archive.org/web/20210306134836/https://www.yeshivatmaharat.org/scholar/thomas-newborn/alissa. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Justin Sun

[edit]

Hello, I noticed that you created the Justin Sun article on 4 June 2019. Could you kindly disclose whether there are any conflicts of interest (COI) or if you were paid to create the article? Additionally, I'm interested in understanding the original intention behind writing it. Thank you! Maklermak (talk) 21:36, 15 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Maklermak~
I was not contacted by anyone to write this article and I have neither met nor been in contact with Justin or his representatives. I actually did not at all remember starting his article or even who he was...I needed to read his article, and I still don't know who he is. Why did I start the article? Probably because I had read a news article about BitTorrent. DRosenbach (Talk | Contribs) 20:27, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, DRosenbach. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicizing, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you.

Could ye kindly let us know if ye've been contacted off or on Wiki to make edits to the Justin Sun article, just so we're all above board here? Maklermak (talk) 13:34, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Again, I don't know why you're asking me this -- was there something suspicious? I've started many articles just on a whim because I've found a news article about the subject and there had been no Wikipedia article yet about someone I deemed notable in their field. I was not advertising, I was not contacted by anyone in regard to the Justin Sun article (you are the first to reach out to me, actually) and I am not related to him in any way.
