SAAF Squadrons
I see you have added the necessary internal hyperlinks to 109 Sqn SAAF. I have been churning our articles on the disbanded squadrons of the SAAF, with particular reference to the WW2 era. It would be super if you could do the same for the other Sqn's as what you did for 109 Sqn. My intention was to come back and re-visit the articles from the perspective of links, but I fear that's not happening!
However, I do not think its necessary to link all dates in the article - simply results in too many links on the page!

WikiCup 2011 September newsletter
We are on this year's home straight, with less than a month to go until the winner of the 2011 WikiCup will be decided. The fight for first place is currently being contested by Miyagawa (submissions), Hurricanehink (submissions) and Sp33dyphil (submissions), all of whom have over 200 points. This round has already seen multiple featured articles (1991 Atlantic hurricane season from Hurricanehink and Northrop YF-23 from Sp33dyphil) and a double-scoring featured list (Miyagawa's 1948 Summer Olympics medal table). The scores will likely increase far further before the end of the round on October 31 as everyone ups their pace. There is not much more to say- thoughts about next year's competition are welcome on the WikiCup talk page or the scoring talk page, and signups will open once a few things have been sorted out.
If you are concerned that your nomination, be it at good article candidates, a featured process or anywhere else, will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAC, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges are reachable on their talk pages, or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start receiving or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. J Milburn and The ed17 12:41, 1 October 2011 (UTC)
- So, on your alternate account's talk page, there is a tag claiming that you understand what alternate accounts are for and will abide by policy. Are you quite certain you understand WP:SOCK? Licorice
Licorice is not made of rat's blood. Someone added that to the Licorice page. I undid that. You undid my undo, saying it wasn't constructive. But I just wanted to point out that licorice is not, in fact, made of rat's blood. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.116.88.129 (talk) 01:20, 2 October 2011 (UTC)

Answer to Muhammad Ali question about relevant sources.
Dear Katarighe,
Were you asking if there were more relevant sources than The New York Times, USA Today, Los Angeles Times, and Miami Herald? I'm not following? Would these not be the best possible sources that exist? If you can edit this it would be much appreciated. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Creed81 (talk • contribs) 18:55, 9 October 2011 (UTC)

Hi, I am confused as to why my edit was reverted. I changed a factual inaccuracy so it would be up to date. The "5 million people" was based on the notion that every video view is equal to one person viewing it. Either way, Harvard Sailing Team's videos have since surpassed 5 million views and are upwards of 8 million views now. You can confirm this on http://www.youtube.com/hstsketchcomedy Thank you.

Thank you for making a report on Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Reporting and removing vandalism is vital to the functioning of Wikipedia and all users are encouraged to revert, warn, and report vandalism. However, it appears that the editor you reported may not have engaged in vandalism, or the user was not sufficiently or appropriately warned. Please note there is a difference between vandalism and unhelpful or misguided edits made in good faith. If the user continues to vandalise after a recent final warning, please re-report it. Thank you. The user in question had only one edit. There is no reasonable way to determine if an account is VOA just by that. Alexandria (Ni!) 15:39, 14 October 2011 (UTC)

ETA in category "government of India"?
Hello! I noticed that you have just added article ETA (Euskadi Ta Askatasuna, the Basque nationalist and separatist organization) to Category:Government of India using HotCat. I was wondering if this could be a mistake, since I don't see any relationship between both (in particular, there is no mention of India in the article itself). Since I'm not knowledgeable in the matter, I have not removed the categorisation from the page; I leave that up to you, if you find it suitable. Thank you for looking into it.

I declined the speedy deletion of your editor review because it didn't appear to meet the criteria for speedy deletion. --Metropolitan90 (talk) 16:39, 22 October 2011 (UTC)
- You can close the current review and open a new if you want to do that for whatever reason, but once other users edited that page it no longer qualified for speedy deletion per creator or user request. It is not in your userspace and five other users made substantive contributions to it. This makes it look like you are trying to hide anything you perceive as a negative comment related to you. That is not a good thing. These reviews were made in good faith in an attempt to help you. The idea is for you to learn to do better, not just to be a prep session for some future RFA. It's up to you how to proceed but when you post that RFA and it doesn't turn out the way you wanted you won't be able to say you were not warned, repeatedly, that you were adopting the wrong approach in treating adminship as a trophy. When you tag a user as a sockpuppet...
Please don't subst a sockpuppet template or a indef-blocked template when tagging a user. Not only does it create unnessecary byte usage on the page, some templates aren't even supposed to be substed. Just use {{$1|$2}}
, where $1
is the template name without the subst:
at the beginning, and $2
is the parameter(s). This is much more efficient, and this also allows a mass update of the template usages with one edit. Thanks. LikeLakers2 (talk | Sign my guestbook!) 23:31, 22 October 2011 (UTC)

Invitation from the Guild of Copy Editors
The Guild of Copy Editors invites you to participate in their November 2011 Backlog elimination drive, a month-long effort to reduce the size of the copy edit backlog. The drive begins on November 1 at 00:00 (UTC) and ends on November 30 at 23:59 (UTC). We will be tracking the number of 2010 articles (and specifically will be targeting the oldest three months), as we want to copy edit as many of these as possible. Hello Katarighe, I noticed you'd started to leave a note for me then removed it, but in case you still had a question about that, it is not possible to reattribute edits made while logged out to an account. There's no technical means to do so. Sorry. Hersfold (t/a/c) 17:16, 29 October 2011 (UTC)

Article of the month – 2011 Italian Grand Prix
The 2011 Italian Grand Prix, formally known as the 2011 Gran Premio Santander d'Italia was a Formula One motor race that was held on 11 September 2011 at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza in Italy. It was the thirteenth round of the 2011 Formula One season, and the sixtieth time the Italian Grand Prix had been held at Monza. The race, contested over 53 laps, was won by Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel, the drivers' championship leader, after starting from pole position. Jenson Button finished in second place for McLaren, and Fernando Alonso completed the podium in third position for Ferrari. As a consequence of the race, Vettel extended his lead in the World Drivers' Championship to 112 points over Alonso, who moved up to second place in the championship. Button moved into third place in the championship, five points behind Alonso, and level on points with fourth-placed Mark Webber, but ahead on countback. In the World Constructors' Championship, Red Bull's championship lead was cut by McLaren to 126 points, with Ferrari a further 71 points behind in third position.
