May 1998 riots
Just wanted to let know that I've made much progress on the Indonesian riots of May 1998 article. You might be interested in it since the Trisakti article you worked on is directly related. At the moment I'm using only one main source, but you're welcome to make additions if you have further information. —Arsonal (talk + contribs)— 09:00, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
- Your expansion looks very good so far (and I have the same book... took forever to arrive after I ordered it from Amazon). I will try and add some information from my copy of Reka Ulang Kerusuhan Mei 1998 published by Tim Solidaritas Kasus Kerusuhan Mei 1998 (shame it's not available online) as well as some popular culture references (Putri Cina by Sindhunata, Clara and Jakarta 2039 by Seno Gumira Ajidarma, and a trilogy by Marga T at the very least). Crisco 1492 (talk) 09:14, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
- I have added some more information. I will try and add more later. Crisco 1492 (talk) 09:51, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
- Three thousand characters. Not bad. Crisco 1492 (talk) 12:47, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
- We have reached five-fold expansion. Do you plan on adding this to DYK once we have it in reasonable shape? Crisco 1492 (talk) 10:44, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
- I will make the DYK nomination at some point, but first I'm going to clean up some of your additions. There are some references that need to go per the reliable sources guideline. I'd rather we be meticulous about this now than later because I also plan on taking this to the Good Article nomination process when we are done. —Arsonal (talk + contribs)— 19:22, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
- Really? Which ones? Crisco 1492 (talk) 23:03, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
- I must say your clean-up looks very nice. I didn't even know Setiono's monster of a book had been translated. This is quite an enjoyable collaboration. Crisco 1492 (talk) 23:13, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
- I must say you seem to have an impressive collection of books on the subject. Crisco 1492 (talk) 23:20, 8 June 2011 (UTC)

- The sources I'm looking to replace are:
- They are personal websites with no editorial oversight. I've read Jakarta 2039, and I'm pretty sure I've seen more reliable references on it. I actually don't have that many books. I usually verify every source metadata with WorldCat, which is why I was able to tweak your reference metadata. If I were still on the Cornell University campus, I would have access to the actual Fact Finding Team report and a billion more things (literally maybe). Cornell Southeast Asia Program has the largest collection of materials on Indonesia in North America. (They pretty much buy everything.) That's how I was able to rewrite the Chinese Indonesians article. —Arsonal (talk + contribs)— 01:12, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
- Ah, those. If you have any sources that are more reliable, I'd be much obliged. I haven't had a chance to go to Kompas' office to check their archives recently, so I don't have anything like the Hartiningsih article for them. Must be nice to have access to a library like that (I'm going on what I own personally, which coincidentally I bought for my final project), and thanks for the hint about WorldCat. I'll try using it next time. Crisco 1492 (talk) 05:27, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
- I assume these events were your final project? I sent a reply to your e-mail, by the way. —Arsonal (talk + contribs)— 05:32, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
- These events provide the historical background for my project (my project [skripsi] is about how different plot points and characterizations in Putri Cina reflect the riots and the major players). I have replied to your email with both files. Crisco 1492 (talk) 05:37, 9 June 2011 (UTC)

- Would you like me to send you the Kompas articles I have? There may be more we can use, and I think it would be allowed under Article 14 letter c of the 2002 Indonesian copyright law. There are 88 articles in total, although I cannot guarantee that they will all be useful. Crisco 1492 (talk) 06:52, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
- If you find any that are interesting, I'll take a look at them, but 88 is just excessive. We don't want too much detail in an article. Between what we have now and the Tempo article, it's pretty good. —Arsonal (talk + contribs)— 07:08, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
- Okay, I'll screen them and then send the ones that look promising to you via e-mail (zipped, naturally). Crisco 1492 (talk) 07:11, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
- I have sent you 17 Kompas articles via e-mail. The Tempo article is apparently online, but I don't have the volume number. Sorry! Crisco 1492 (talk) 07:45, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
- The map is done. I wasn't able to reproduce the large map exactly. Instead, I used Google Maps to get the coordinates of all the locations described between pages 164 and 166 and placed them on the map. It's crude, and there may be some mistakes because even I haven't been to every corner of Jakarta, but I think it's a reasonable effort. —Arsonal (talk + contribs)— 09:31, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
- Looks good. However, I'm worried that the map may be too big to be transcluded properly on some monitors (like mine, 1024x600px). Thanks for doing that! Crisco 1492 (talk) 09:36, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
- Oh, netbook resolution... Trimmed it down to 400px, like the Indonesia map. Unfortunately, it won't let me do percentage width. P.S.: I think I don't need talkbacks anymore. Your user page is on my watchlist. —Arsonal (talk + contribs)— 09:44, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah, I kinda had to replace the one I brought from Canada and didn't have much pocket change. I will see if I can find a width percentage parameter or something. K, feel free to erase the talkbacks. Crisco 1492 (talk) 11:26, 9 June 2011 (UTC)

- Thanks a lot. Shame I probably won't see it on the main page (I'll be in Lampung, and I don't know if I'll have a chance to go online). BTW: I've added a bit more about the riots in other cities. Cheers! Crisco 1492 (talk) 23:04, 9 June 2011 (UTC)
- Well, have fun there! I've been meaning to ask you. Where did you get all these sources? Did you just ask the newsdesks for their stories? If you're experienced in this area, it would be very helpful if you could request copyright(left) permissions for some photos. Many articles are in need of graphics. —Arsonal (talk + contribs)— 08:33, 10 June 2011 (UTC)
- I got the articles and reports straight from the publishers. I ordered the Tempo articles (in PDF form) from their offices in Jakarta, the two reports from Solidaritas Nusa Bangsa's offices in Jakarta, and I got the Kompas articles from their office in Yogya. I do not know if they would be willing to release images under a copyleft license, but I could try to have a look and see what I can do. Any subjects in particular? Shame I didn't go on the class trip to Tempo's office in Jakarta last December! Crisco 1492 (talk) 08:44, 10 June 2011 (UTC)
- I've sent an e-mail to Tempo. I will try Bernas' or Kompas' offices next week. Crisco 1492 (talk) 09:17, 10 June 2011 (UTC)

DYK for Senyawa
On 10 June 2011, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Senyawa, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that during his career, Chrisye released albums that sold like "chicken shit", were recorded with studio executives locked out, raised controversy for being "against Asian mores", went double platinum on his birthday, and had to be recalled to replace the cover design? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

I understand
I understand if someone's busy. But in this specific situation, what's more likely, that he was just busy, or that he was attending to a personal matter (in this case a personal project). It took about 2 or 3 days for him to respond; and only after I complained about him. And another thing, he's not just any old person, he's an administrator that I specifically went to for advice. That article that he was spending so much time on wasn't going anywhere. He could have gotten back to it after he helped me resolve my issue. Was I supposed to wait 3 more days. I understand now that what I was wondering about was something so basic. But the problem with me is that sometimes I don't know where to find things like what he pointed out. So, do I still have a point? Was he not, not, being attentive as an administrator? That has to fall under something because the bottom line is that that was annoying, and I can see how someone else would find that annoying too if they were in that situation. Please tell me what you think. Lighthead (talk) 02:25, 11 June 2011 (UTC)
But I first came to him on his talk page. Unless you're referring to the Drum and Bass talk page. If that's the case how was I supposed to have him see that, miraculously? No I understand about that, but I let him know on his talk page. And as anyone on Wikipedia knows you have to step over that message at the top before doing anything else. Lighthead (talk) 02:45, 11 June 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, that's true. It makes sense, I'll take your advice. Thanks for your help. Lighthead (talk) 02:53, 11 June 2011 (UTC)
Status
I wanted to ask you a question on another note. I put that status bot thing on my user page, and yeah there's a green light at the top of the search bar, but on my userpage it says status unknown, how do I fix that (I'm not tech savvy)?
Lighthead (talk) 02:57, 11 June 2011 (UTC)
Okay, I'm using your advice, did you see what I put? Ha ha ha! Maybe you're not online; I'll check after I'm finished. Lighthead (talk) 03:35, 11 June 2011 (UTC)
You're actually on your trip, I'll let you get to that. Sorry! Lighthead (talk) 03:40, 11 June 2011 (UTC)

Deceptive
Semi wiki break? nah - the going to talk pages of Indonesian subjects means youve been busy fiddling with the Indonesian project assessments - and as long as you can read this in english sense and you are not too tuned to nuances in Indonesian context - well done - thanks for helping improve the Indonesian project! SatuSuro 11:38, 13 June 2011 (UTC)
- Thats ok - this place can get quite thankless at times - your effort like that of boneyard's at the death project are - for me positive signs that people can take the baton when some of us oldies get distracted by real life and other things - and so many flutter away from the big project altogether - too often - so its good to see some activity on the watchlist SatuSuro 13:37, 13 June 2011 (UTC)
- Oh dear - my edits are very low compared to a few years back - and hey there is so much to fixup in the Indonesian project - it needs about 4 - 5 active regular eds communicating in both languages bhs ind and inggeris with at least one admin - to ever get it a cleanup it might take it to a worthy status - but most projects have ups and downs - maybe it will come good again one day - cheers SatuSuro 13:42, 13 June 2011 (UTC)

User page layout
I adopted your user page layout on my user page. I hope you don't mind. My page was a mess, and I didn't have the skills to fix the formatting from scratch.--Bkwillwm (talk) 03:12, 15 June 2011 (UTC)
UNDG
Hey at least I expanded the UNDG article from nothing to some standard. Bare URLs is because it is a hardly mentioned agency. Do you know anything about it?Other dictionaries are better (talk) 08:51, 15 June 2011 (UTC)
Hi! Can you expand?♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:26, 15 June 2011 (UTC)
OK! While in Lampung can you try to photograph some of the regencies and towns/village and landmarks. I can start/improve the articles then when you get back! Have a well deserved break!♦ Dr. Blofeld 23:01, 15 June 2011 (UTC)
Great. I'll look into doing some work on it tomorrow. Should be interesting. Can I ask what area you are staying at?♦ Dr. Blofeld 23:20, 15 June 2011 (UTC)
Pulau Legundi for starters, just off Bandar Lampung.♦ Dr. Blofeld 23:30, 15 June 2011 (UTC)
Do you think we should use Indonesia names Pulau .. or ... Island? I've started Tabuan Island. The think is most publications call it Pulau Tabuan.♦ Dr. Blofeld 00:19, 16 June 2011 (UTC)
Excellent work! Any chance you could visit CFC and take a few photos of it for the wikipedia article? It would be much better with a photo or two!♦ Dr. Blofeld 10:44, 16 June 2011 (UTC)
Protected (Left Behind: The Kids)
Hi, I have declined the Prod on Protected (Left Behind: The Kids) and others. This has the same issues as discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Taken (Left Behind: The Kids). There are many similar articles and the way forward would seem to be to merge them all into the main page, TerriersFan (talk) 22:26, 15 June 2011 (UTC)

Rail and Pitta
I'll try the Rail article, but getting enough for a 5x expansion might be iffy. But I'll try. Can you look at the alt proposal for my Pitta nom at DYK? Thanks.BarkingMoon (talk) 01:32, 16 June 2011 (UTC)
