Your GA nomination of Indian Rebellion of 1857
[edit]Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article Indian Rebellion of 1857 you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period. Message delivered by Legobot, on behalf of Fowler&fowler -- Fowler&fowler (talk) 14:20, 18 June 2019 (UTC)
- I am not actually reviewing it. I just left a note there. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 14:24, 18 June 2019 (UTC)
Indian rebellion of 1857
[edit]Since you seem to be relatively new here, I just wanted to make sure you know what you are doing in nominating Indian rebellion of 1857 for a GA review. You do understand that if a reviewer makes a comment, which involves making a change, it is you who will bear the primary burden of making it. As I say in the nomination page, the Indian rebellion page is an old page, about an old topic, which is plagued by the viewpoints of every school of historiography that exists in colonial India. More has been written about this topic than probably any other topic in the history of the British period in India. It is not easy to navigate the sources. Besides, it is not just a military history topic, as it was accompanied by a civil rebellion, by the dissolution of the East India Company, by the onset of Crown rule in India. Like I said, I just wanted to make sure you know what you are getting yourself into. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 14:23, 18 June 2019 (UTC)
I do know it is not a simple process. However, I was surprised to find the article was only a B, and my opinion is that someone needs to take that step towards upgrading it. I am sorry if I have made a mistake here, and I am relatively new, perhaps I am not the correct person to do this. However, an article larger and with more citations (even if those citations speak many different stories that often contradict each other) than some FA I believe it should be elevated. If you think I should withdraw the nomination, I will do that as you clearly know much more about the topic than me. I understand the complexity and divisiveness of the subject, but I am committed to making a good impact on this site and that can't be done by not being bold . I have experience of editing and I can assure you I can make changes suggested by a reviewer. Again, just give the word and I'll withdraw the nomination. Cricketts19 (talk) 08:13, 19 June 2019 (UTC)
- I think you should explain on the talk page of the article in a separate section what you consider to be the specific weaknesses of the article, how it can be improved, and why you think it is ready for a GA review. In other words, present a road map. That would be helpful to everyone. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 10:05, 19 June 2019 (UTC)
Your GA nomination of Indian Rebellion of 1857
[edit]The article Indian Rebellion of 1857 you nominated as a good article has failed ; see Talk:Indian Rebellion of 1857 for reasons why the nomination failed. If or when these points have been taken care of, you may apply for a new nomination of the article.
