Your services on hiwiki?
Hello Coren! Was just wondering if it is possible that CorenSearchBot lend its services on hiwki? I would be glad to help with the localisations, template creation etc. if you could maybe guide me about the whole process of setting up a 24x7 CorenSearchBot on our wiki.
Regards, Shubhamkanodia (talk) 12:16, 3 May 2014 (UTC)
- I'd be glad to help, but note that CSBot is mostly untested with non-latin scripts and will require a bit of tweaking to work right. In particular, there is a set of regular expressions that will need adapting to convert arbitrary text into a list word stem approximations, which is what is being compared and searched for.
Do you already have someone that is familiar with running bots in general available to install and maintain it? If not, I can probably help and do so myself, but I have limited availability. — Coren (talk) 20:53, 4 May 2014 (UTC)
- I'd be glad to test it. Also, I try and customize the regex's for hiwiki. I am a programmer and run my AWB Bot on hiwiki, but I don't have much knowledge about Toolserver bots which run automatically. I can help you customize and test the script, but I need help setting it up! Also, which tool does your bot use for matching dups? I can test that to see if it supports Devnagri Script. Because a similar tool, Template:Dupdet does not seem to work with non-latin scripts.Shubhamkanodia (talk) 11:07, 5 May 2014 (UTC)
Any update after one month?--GZWDer (talk) 05:33, 7 May 2014 (UTC)
CorenSearchBot
Hi Coren, I want to know is it possible for you to run the bot in Persian wikipedia too? Does the code need to be changed to be usable in another wikis? I want to take a flag for you if you can active it in fa.wiki. Please answer me in my talk page in fa.wiki Thank you very much--Sahehco (talk) 12:00, 18 May 2014 (UTC)
Help with Extension:Dice
Coren, I've just installed your dice extension on my own wiki and am having some trouble. Installation appeared to go smoothly, but now anytime I try to save an edit with the dice code I get an SQL error. It appears that the roll_id and roll_rev keep returning as NULL, which my database doesn't like. all the other variables appear to be working (e.g. roll_result is reasonable, etc) I recognize this extension might be an older project of yours, and it's likely user error, but I appreciate any help or direction to troubleshooting resources. Thanks! Gregunderscorem (talk) 18:36, 12 May 2014 (UTC)
- I honestly haven't kept it up to date as I should, and I haven't used that extension since 1.17 so it probably needs some TLC to bring it up to API changes. I'll try to grab a bit of time to do so soonish. :-) — Coren (talk) 03:43, 17 May 2014 (UTC)
- After a bit of sleuthing on my own I managed to sort it out; I've got it working now! For your reference, I had to change dice_rolls.roll_rev to allow NULL values, and set the value of roll_id to 1 with an INSERT command. I imagine setting these values as default upon table creation would sort it out for any new users. Thanks for taking a look at it! Gregunderscorem (talk) 17:02, 21 May 2014 (UTC)
Any update?--GZWDer (talk) 04:59, 19 May 2014 (UTC)

CorenSearchBot blocked
Hi Coren, I blocked the bot. It is uncontrollably hitting the spam blacklist (see https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Log/spamblacklist&limit=500&type=spamblacklist&user= ) for at least 3 hours, rendering the log utterly useless. Can you please adapt the code so you test for blacklist hits, and stopping parsing that page for x time before trying again, or by <nowiki>-ing the link in case it is blacklisted. Feel free to unblock the bot when the problem is solved. --Dirk Beetstra T C 03:55, 22 May 2014 (UTC)
