Buggy whipping: Morton (given name)
Why oh why is the bot flagging a possible "copyvio" of another Wikipedia page (which I also edited)? Clarityfiend (talk) 23:30, 6 June 2016 (UTC)
- Well, fundamentally, because copies even within Wikipedia break attribution (and thus proper copyright licensing) when not done just right. It may not be a problem, but it does require a human to make sure. (Most of the time, it's newbies doing copy-paste when they meant to rename or make a redirect).
- That said, the two pages do share a lot of content and do not attribute each other. That's only okay if you are the sole editor having worked on both – and that requires a human to check. — Coren (talk) 01:39, 7 June 2016 (UTC)
- (But also, the bot used the wrong message - the one it should have used makes what I just said above clear). — Coren (talk) 01:42, 7 June 2016 (UTC)
CorenSearchBot tagging
I've noticed that when CorenSearchBot tags pages that are possibly duplicates of other Wikipedia pages, it places just {{csb-wikipage|1=}} and does not include the page name. The copyvio template says:
"The CorenSearchBot has performed a web search with the contents of this page, and it appears to be a substantial copy of the Wikipedia page [[:]]."
For example, see Jonathan rooney. It mentions the page name in the edit summary of the edit that put the tag on but that's it. Just wanted to let you know about this issue. —MRD2014 T C 14:49, 7 June 2016 (UTC)
- Yeah, it should be fixed now; I'm waiting to see it find another before I call it though. — Coren (talk) 15:36, 7 June 2016 (UTC)
"Verifiability or Truth" RfC outcome
Greeetings. There was an RfC back in 2012 about the rules on Verifiability. You were one of three nominated Administrators who would determine consensus. Could you, please, point me towards the outcome of that RfC? Thanks. -The Gnome (talk) 06:58, 11 June 2016 (UTC)
- @The Gnome: You can find the wall of text here; the last section has the "official" result. — Coren (talk) 14:23, 11 June 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you. -The Gnome (talk) 07:05, 12 June 2016 (UTC)

CSB Stopped?
Hi Coren, the bot appears to have either stopped or is unable to hit the API. On a possibly related tangent, see the last entry on the CSB Manual-check page. The article (now deleted) was called ok by the bot but was a 98% blogspot match on Earwig (which tells me the bot was running at that moment, anyway). Thanks, C. CrowCaw 21:47, 9 June 2016 (UTC)
