Last December, I invited you to share your views on the value of Wikimedia conferences and the planning process of Wikimania. We have completed analysis of these results and have prepared this report summarizing your feedback and important changes for Wikimania starting in 2018 as an experiment. Feedback and comments are welcome at the discussion page. Thank you so much for your participation. I JethroBT (WMF), Community Resources, 22:47, 8 February 2016 (UTC)

Cscades

The Cscades page was similar to my page on Wikipedia "Hickory Flats". Unfortunately the title has a spelling correction and will need to be changed Djenkins bburg (talk) 02:17, 15 February 2016 (UTC)

Overzealous bot tagging

Hi - your bot just tagged Telford (name) as being a copy of text from Telford (disambiguation), which it was. However, this page was created in the course of a routine split of Telford (disambiguation), as indicated in the summary. I would suggest programming your bot to ignore these sorts of edits – perhaps by looking for "split" in the edit summary, or by waiting a minute or two to see if the offending text is removed from the apparently duplicated page. Digplanet

Can you add [1] to the whitelist? Your bot keeps flagging articles with copyright violations from that site, even though it is copying Wikipedia (see "[2]. Anarchyte (work | talk) 22:57, 22 February 2016 (UTC)

  • (talk page stalker) I don't think it would be wise to whitelist them. Yes they do pull content from here, but they also pull content from youtube, news outlets, books, and twitter, all of which present copyright concerns. As one who sorts through Coren's bot reports, I'd rather another false positive get added to the pile than have a copyvio slip through. CrowCaw 23:05, 22 February 2016 (UTC)

Yet another whitelist question

I came across a user (Grahm Gessner) who has been importing content from the Transporter Classification Database, an academic resource that is dual-licensed under CC-BY-SA 3.0/GFDL. He's been getting frequent copyvio notices as a result. I was going to just stick the site in the whitelist, but the list is much shorter than I was expecting and doesn't seem to contain similarly obscure sites that might be used by just a few contributors. I can see the value of keeping it trim, so thought I'd check first. Thanks! Opabinia regalis (talk) 22:40, 25 February 2016 (UTC)

--Thank you, Opabinia regalis. I am a curator and system administrator for the Transporter Classification Database and am working under a grant to transcribe entries with improvement and clarification into Wikipedia under CC-BY-SA 3.0/GFDL. I would greatly appreciate if the site could be put on the Whitelist, as I have made sure (as an administrator) that tcdb.org clearly states that information may be copied/used for purposes such as transcription into Wikipedia. Thank you for your consideration and acknowledgment! Grahm Gessner (talk) 22:54, 25 February 2016 (UTC)

  • Hello, I've added this site to the whitelist. The license is clearly displayed on all pages, and with a project in progress, it only makes sense. As always Coren, if I've erred please let me know! CrowCaw 23:09, 25 February 2016 (UTC)

Coren, there is no copyright protection for statutes, such as the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC). Would it be possible for you to program an exception into your bot so that it did not assert copyright issues when a statute is quoted in WP? See Course of dealing. Thank you.
