Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Martin Tillman has been reverted.
Your edit here to Martin Tillman was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (https://www.facebook.com/MartinTillmanMusic?fref=ts) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Re Martin Tillman

[edit]

Hi, thanks for inquiring on my talk page. The Draft:Martin Tillman article is looking better, but I think it still needs some work:

  • Some of the language doesn't yet sound neutral to me. Take a look at WP:NPOV for some guidance. The sentence that stuck out to me is this one: "Martin Tillman has created a revolutionary sound of his own by extending the traditional boundaries of the cello". This sounds like a value judgment. How do we know his sound is "revolutionary"? How do we know it "extends the traditional boundaries" of the instrument? It'd be better to just say "Martin Tillman is a Swiss composer and cellist." Save the other stuff for another part of the article. Take a look at the Yo-Yo Ma article for some ideas about how to write a good lede about a cellist.
  • It looks like some of your sentences are copied from the Yoga Download reference. Please remove any content that is copied word-for-word and rephrase it in your own words. Also, I'm not entirely sure that Yoga Download is a reliable source, since I don't know their editorial policy. A good rule of thumb is that if anyone can write on a website, it's probably not reliable.
  • Regarding sources:
    • First, the bad. A lot of the references don't have much to say about the composer. For example, the Hollywood Reporter, Horror Unlimited, Film Music Society, and New York Times references only mention Martin Tillman once in passing. These sources are fine if you want to show that the composer scored a particular movie, but they aren't great at giving the entire article notability. It'd be useful to find sources that talk about the subject in greater detail than just one sentence. (The Blick references, which I talk about later, are an example of good sources.)
    • You should remove the French Wikipedia reference. We can't cite Wikipedia as a source for Wikipedia articles because Wikipedia is not considered a reliable source. Sounds sonfusing, I know, but that's the policy.
    • Now the good: I don't speak German, but I ran the two Blick references through Google Translate and those seem like good sources. Definitely use this one throughout the article to cite as many claims as you can.
    • The Jazz Reviews website also looks like a good reference, since it's a magazine with (presumably) an editorial board.

As always, if you have any questions, feel free to ask on my talk page. Getting a draft accepted is a process, so don't be discouraged if it takes a few tries to get it through. Thanks, wia (talk) 14:40, 11 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Congrats on the article acceptance! It took some work but now you have the satisfaction of seeing your (well-referenced) work on Wikipedia! wia (talk) 22:56, 27 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

YOU ARE THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU!

ps do you know why my photos are not uploading? :)

Looks like the pictures were deleted from Commons because they did not specify an appropriate license, so it's a copyright issue. The majority of pictures you find online are copyrighted and so we can't use them on Wikipedia without permission. Where did you find the pictures? wia (talk) 23:21, 27 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Ah...They are owned by Martin via the photographer. Christinamm (talk) 00:00, 28 April 2015 (UTC)christinamm[reply]

If Martin has photographs to which he owns the copyright, he can submit them via Wikipedia:Contact us - Licensing. I don't do much work with pictures so I'm probably not too helpful in this domain, but maybe the Teahouse might be of use? wia (talk) 00:19, 28 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
