I've added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Mevo'ot Yericho, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree with the notice, discuss the issues at Talk:Mevo'ot Yericho. You may remove the deletion notice, and the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached, or if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria. If you have any questions, please contact me at my talk page. Ian Manka 23:20, 23 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Erdan gilad.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Erdan gilad.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 15:06, 3 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Chocom. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Ra'anana South Railway Station, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

An article you recently created, Mazkeret Batya railway station, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. hi.

do you intend to continue some work you started on hewiki? you left some pages (some templates and a module) with template "בעבודה", but you haven't done anything there for close to a year. i nominated your unfinished work for deletion, but then noticed you actually active on enwiki, so i came here to ask if you plan to continue. if so, please respond there (and if the template will be gone by then, you can ask for it to be recovered in he:וק:במ). if you prefer to respond here, please ping me. peace - קיפודנחש (aka kipod) (talk) 16:31, 3 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!

[edit]

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!

Tramlijn 5 moved to draftspace

[edit]

Thanks for your contributions to Tramlijn 5. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Liz Read! Talk! 08:09, 6 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Liz, I clearly marked this page with a delete request, so I don't see any need to move it to the Draft namespace.

@BoyTheKingCanDance, Thanks for the attention,
I'm currently working on translating the Amsterdam transport articles from Dutch to English. Unfortunately, the Dutch language Tram line 13 doesn't have any sources (unlike previous articles, like line 12) .
Seeing how this article in Dutch is over 10 years old and has been edited by many different users, I think we should consider it for publication, even though it has no sources.
Chocom (talk) 08:12, 13 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello my friend Chocom, I hope you are fine. I am sorry to disagree, but Wikipedia should not have unreferenced articles in any languages. Are there really no sources available? Best regards, and thanks for all your good work on Wikipedia. Best regards, BoyTheKingCanDance (talk) 08:16, 13 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@BoyTheKingCanDance, Would the following links (in Dutch) be considered a good enough source? On the Dutch article they are listed under "Externe links" (External Links).
I have read through them, they contain most (maybe all) of the information listed in the Dutch article and translated in the English one.
Would adding these allow the article to be brought back?
Chocom (talk) 08:29, 13 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hi Chocom. Good to see that someone other than me is also working on the transit articles of Amsterdam. I see from the conversation(s) above that you are sometimes having trouble with getting articles published in the main space. This mostly comes from the articles being translations from the Dutch Wikipedia. I personally don't find nlwiki as a very good project because their rules are quite a bit different than other large wikis. For example, verifiability is actually not a policy nor a guideline there (only proposed, for almost two decades now). This means that most articles cite little sources and sometimes none at all, which is deemed unacceptable here on enwiki. This is why I don't translate articles from nlwiki myself, which I'd suggest to you as well. An article first has to show that it's notable for Wikipedia, which is done with reliable and independent sources. Now, in my opinion Amsterdam tram lines are almost always notable since they have decades of history, but not every new page patroller knows that (and they don't have to). This means that you have to gather sources before publishing something:
  • First you can check the sources cited on the nlwiki article and see if you are lucky, which I see you did in this case.
  • You can do a quick Google search yourself to find some recent sources on the topic. After a quick search for line 13, I found these two on the reduction of frequency and the reverter of that later: [1], [2].
  • The next step is to check Delpher for historic newspapers. The site is in Dutch, and you have to do an advanced and somewhat complicated search to get the thnigs that you want. Here are some search results for line 13 with some alternative keywords: [3], [4], [5]. Make sure that the "Soort bericht" parameter has only "Artikel" ticked, otherwise you will end up with 80% of the results being useless adverts. Even if you have done everything properly, you will sometimes end up with hundreds of newspaper articles; how much of that you want to look into is completely up to you.
By this point, there should be enough sources to prove the notability of the line. Some book sources for tram and metro lines exist; if you happen to visit Amsterdam at some point the central library of OBA has a separate section for Amsterdam-related books (including several on transit). For additional background information, you can check official sources of the GVB or Amsterdam regional transport authority. While these don't count towards notability as they are primary sources, they do have useful things. Example sources that could be helpful for your recently created Line 53 and Line 54 (Oostlijn) articles can be found here. Good luck with your articles! Deletion discussion about Amsterdam tram line 12

[edit]

Hello Chocom, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

While your contributions are appreciated, I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Amsterdam tram line 12, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Amsterdam tram line 12.

Deletion discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. Our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. The most common issue in these discussions is notability, but it's not the only aspect that may be discussed; read the nomination and any other comments carefully before you contribute to the discussion. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.
