July 2018

[edit]

Hi, please don't unnecessarily italicize quotes per Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Text formatting#Quotations. Thanks, Jc86035 (talk) 11:20, 29 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Also, there is a standard section order for articles about musical artists; prose is always placed before content in lists. Jc86035 (talk) 12:32, 29 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Tours

[edit]

I don't think it's necessary to include all of the tour dates in Night & Day (The Vamps album), since they don't really have much to do with the album. If the tour is notable, then the dates should go in an article about the tour, but otherwise the tour dates probably shouldn't be mentioned. See WP:NCONCERT. Jc86035 (talk)

Hi. Jc86035 I followed the format of the page for the band’s second album. The full tour dates were written there. See the Wake Up World Tour. The tour was designed to promote the album, and I guess that’s why the editor added the dates to the band’s second album’s page. I did the same for the Night & Day (The Vamps album) since the 2 upcoming tours are for the third album’s promotion as well.

Just because it's in an article doesn't mean it's correct. Pop music articles are frequently edited by young fans who might often add fancruft. The list in Wake Up's article was also added by a fan of the Vamps, in 2015, without any prior discussion. Jc86035 (talk) 11:10, 4 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Loopers (DJ) moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Loopers (DJ), does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). Currently, while Loopers is mentioned in a few of the cited articles, none of them present "in-depth" coverage of Loopers as required by the guideline.

Additionally, be aware that the section about Loopers's early career is currently totally uncited and may be subject to removal per Wikipedia's policy against original research. While this is an independent issue from the larger issue of notability, consider adding citations to support claims in this section in order to preserve your work when you submit the draft for review.

I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. signed, Rosguill talk 22:54, 18 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

September 2018

[edit]

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at 5 Seconds of Summer (album), without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. General Ization Talk 14:48, 21 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Excuse me? It has a source. Right next to the RIAA, if you click that, you will be redirected to the exact page. I’m looking at RIAA’s page right now. Kindly check the auto-generated link, numbers 33 if you don’t see it, by the template before you undo my update. Please don’t undo without checking the link first. As to the one that you might actually be be referring to, if you look at it, it clearly states to not change the actual sales amount. Sales amount has a different link than the certification. Kindly read the comment left by the original Wikipedia user so you know which one is being referred to. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ‎Chess2018 (talkcontribs) 15:23, 21 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This is the content within which you changed the certification:
{{Certification Table Entry|region=United States|award=2xPlatinum{{sup|{{Dagger}}}}|type=single|artist=5 Seconds of Summer|relyear=2014|title=Amnesia|salesamount=729,000<!--RIAA digital singles certifications are now based on streaming in addition to sales -- DO NOT delete or replace this sales amount/reference until a new one can be supplied!-->|salesref=<ref>{{cite web |url=http://www.hitsdailydouble.com/news/newsPage.cgi?news10218m01 |title=The Big 9 in 2014: Capitol |work=HITS Daily Double |publisher=HITS Digital Ventures |date=8 December 2014 |accessdate=26 December 2014}}</ref>|accessdate=26 December 2014}}
The cited page at Hits Daily Double doesn't properly support the existing content, but it certainly doesn't support your change. Also see the note, which is, I think, pretty clear. If that's what you mean by "the comment left by the original Wikipedia user", please explain why you think that instructs you to change the certification without updating the sales amount and the cited source. General Ization Talk 15:24, 21 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. You see the first column? Beside RIAA, there’s a hyperlink. Reference number 33. Click that one. That is auto-generated by the Wikipedia templates. That’s the official source, the official RIAA page. Kindly check it before correcting me. It says 2x platinum. You do not need to update then any source because it is auto generated. That hits daily double source is not mine. The original person who added that left a comment o not touch the sales amount figure. Sales amount is different from th certification. Meaning here are two source sources in that certification. Just click reference 33 so you will see it, it’s not that hard to click. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ‎Chess2018 (talkcontribs) 15:31, 21 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Acknowledged; I do see now what you're saying. Might I suggest, however, that you should make your argument on a Talk page (this one or the article's or even mine), even if correct, before you simply reassert your change (which can be regarded as the beginning of edit warring). This is why I have removed most, but not the first, of my warnings to you above. Also, as requested, please sign any comments on any Talk page as explained below. General Ization Talk 15:37, 21 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Also, you really should be making use of edit summaries for your edits. Your comment on your last edit to the article appears to be the first time you have ever supplied an edit summary for your edits. General Ization Talk 15:39, 21 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I added a comment in the last update I did. I forgot to add a comment earlier, that was my bad. Thanks again for the tip with the tildes :) if you are autorized to remove stuff, you can remove the hits double link if you think it’s not reliable enough. That wasn’t my entry that’s why I don’t want to touch it as respect to the original author. Chess2018 (talk) 15:40, 21 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, the page at Hits appears to be one that is overwritten constantly at the site, and even the earliest (Jan 2016) scrape of that page available at archive.org doesn't source the 2014 content. General Ization Talk 15:48, 21 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies for taking up your time with the misunderstanding. General Ization Talk 15:49, 21 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Your draft article, Draft:Loopers (DJ)

[edit]

Hello, Chess2018. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Loopers".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. JMHamo (talk) 10:01, 25 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please discuss major changes, like changing the structure, on the talk page. Most of these new sections did not make sense.--Lirim | Talk 09:18, 22 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Sure. The existing subsection titles back then were album names. The subsections encompassed paragraphs that were talking about other albums. That’s why I added the other sub headers (with the correct album names) to avoid confusion. Had I known that you wanted to remove the subsection titles, I would have just removed the existing ones instead of correcting them. Chess2018 (talk) 13:54, 14 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
