Hello CD, I found myself editing a page that I hadn't done for a few months, and then noticed that it wasn't on my watchlist. It appears that it was a copy-paste move attempt, which Cohen bot picked up which was then marked false-positive (actually the bot had picked up the copy-paste attempt in both locations).
Would you be able to try and track down what happened, such that at the end it's possible to do a history move and get things back.
User talk:Sammywand365#The_Nottingham_Bluecoat_Academy is the warning and false-positive retraction. Special:Contributions/Sammywand365 (top four entries; they don't seem to have done anything else) is the pastes from the copy-paste. [1] is the cut→redirect from the copy-paste.
—Sladen (talk) 13:41, 3 January 2012 (UTC)
- Ah. I wondered about that as I was dealing with the CSB report following the two redirects to the current title. I'm not an admin but can ask someone to come and fix this. Do you know what the correct title of the article should be? I see that the school refers to itself as "Bluecoat Academy".
- Anthony has now fixed the histmerge. As for the name; AFAICT, for the first 300 years it was "[Nottingham] Bluecoat School", and then in the last decade has had as many other branded names as years… —Sladen (talk) 23:43, 3 January 2012 (UTC)
Not sure what to do, Seeking Guidance
I apologize for bothering you but am seeking guidance about a page that was supported through an edit by you on this page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Nicole_van_Dam - the underlying article is now up for deletion - I wanted you to know because I've worked so hard to keep it up to date, and would be sad to see it deleted. I'm willing to make changes to save it, and since this started (Dec 28) I've added more links and cites to bolster the page, but the situation seems to remain and I am not sure how best to resolve it other than by continuing to add more cites. Should I just sit and wait now? Any insights (critical or supportive) would be appreciated, as I would like to do this correctly. See Nicole van Dam, THANK YOU! for any advice you might have. Artmaestro (talk) 20:23, 4 January 2012 (UTC)
- OK. I've had a look at the article. I've also searched on-line for any evidence that this artist meets the general notability guidelines required for biographies on Wikipedia and I'm afraid I'm coming up blank. No reviews or coverage from any reliable sources which would indicate that this artist meets the basic notability requirement, which is to have been: "...the subject of multiple published secondary sources which are reliable, intellectually independent of each other, and independent of the subject."
- The further guidance offered for biographies of artists is this: "...1)The person is regarded as an important figure or is widely cited by peers or successors. 2)The person is known for originating a significant new concept, theory or technique.3)The person has created, or played a major role in co-creating, a significant or well-known work, or collective body of work, that has been the subject of an independent book or feature-length film, or of multiple independent periodical articles or reviews. 4)The person's work either (a) has become a significant monument, (b) has been a substantial part of a significant exhibition, (c) has won significant critical attention, or (d) is represented within the permanent collections of several notable galleries or museums."
- Unless there is evidence of serious heavyweight reviews or coverage on this artist or her work (which one would normally find easily on-line), I'm afraid that the outcome may be that the article is ultimately deleted.
- The further problem is that it appears from your contributions to both the article and the deletion discussion that you have a connection with the subject. Wikipedia guidelines define this situation as a potential conflict of interest and, as such, you are strongly recommended not to create or edit any article with which you are personally or professionally connected. You are, of course welcome to edit other articles in Wikipedia (although I would suggest that you take a little time to familiarise yourself with the policies and guidelines first).
- My honest advice is that you take a copy of the article as it stands and paste it into a personal document on your own computer. I really don't think that you can do anything further to change the outcome. Sorry that I can't be more help.--CharlieDelta (talk) 19:57, 5 January 2012 (UTC)
Thank you for such a thoughtful response. I am taking your advice to heart, and appreciate the time you took in reviewing everything. I wish the WP:ARTIST guidelines took into account the notability that comes of being a licensed artist, because that would be an easy fit; art has changed quite a bit because technology has made reproducing to high standards a reality. My intuition is that this particular wiki article would be most valuable to people who buy the licensed art and THEN want to learn more, as well as to people who buy books (like the Tempo adult book of art and poetry or the children's books) and THEN wish to learn more. In other words, the article doesn't create sales, it gives info to those who have already purchased. I fear somehow the article instead was seen as a promotional tool to generate sales, when actually the article was intended to serve as a clean, one-stop-info-shop for basic data, on one uncluttered page that anyone could edit, for those who already had made a purchase, i.e., a more neutral, egalitarian alternative to the extensive website at http://Wishes.bz for those existing purchasers wanting to learn more. Ironically, this article would then serve to drive a wee bit of traffic to wiki, not vice versa, but then wiki has plenty of traffic without this one particular article. All this a long-winded way of expressing: It was kind of you to take so much time, and my expectations now are lowered while my understanding of the wiki-ecosystem greatly enhanced. Thank you again, Artmaestro (talk) 21:18, 5 January 2012 (UTC) :)
copyvio of itself
You said here:
This is another of those strange occasions where CSB tags an article for a copyvio of itself. False positive

- Ah. Thanks. I wondered whether it might be the ampersand...--CharlieDelta (talk) 22:27, 8 January 2012 (UTC)
- I hope Coren gets a chance to find a solution, I've seen a few of those lately. Ironic that improved technology in one area (faster cataloging by Yahoo) ends up biting us.--SPhilbrick(Talk) 01:24, 9 January 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for the welcome!
Hi CharlieDelta!
Thanks for your note to me back on Dec. 19, 2011 about an article I'd edited.
I'm going to try to fix my issue, which was flagged for not having a NPOV.
I'm new to Wikipedia but am starting to learn the way things work here and hoping that I'll become a small but significant editor throughout the next few years.
All the best,
ZC

Thanks for the notice. I didn't know about the new rules on the BLP pages (well, not all of them). I translated the information from the Spanish article. I found this source (in Spanish), which I think is reliable (online news source it seems): [2]. So I will place it in the article and remove your tag. Thanks again for the notice. Children's Book Illustrator & Author
Hi, I am genuinely looking for an invitation to Wikipedia, where I believe I am somewhat notable in my field of Children's book Illustration. My name is Peter Bowman and I have been a successful illustrator for nearly 30 yrs. I have published 48 books, in 20 languages. My publisher for a number of years was Random House. I am currently working on my animation film. I am wondering whether you would kindly write an article on me. Please visit my website: http://www.peterbowman.co.uk where I hope my biographical details substantiate my claim to be included on the site, in the Children's Book section. I hope this approach is the correct way to apply for inclusion on the site. If it isn't, I do apologize.
Thankyou and kind regards,
Peter Bowman

Weddington Castle
Hello,
The majority of the Weddington Castle page that I set up appears to have been deleted by yourself - can you advise why this is?
Thanks Portugal7 (John Brookes) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.69.200.202 (talk) 19:01, 2 March 2012 (UTC)
- Hi, you will see from both the edit summary and the note I left on the the Weddington Castle article Talk Page that the majority of the previous text appeared to have been copied or closely paraphrased from this website. Wikipedia has very firm policies concerning the use of copyright material, which you can read here. If you are, as I suspect you may be, the copyright holder of the text, then I suggest that you follow the guidance here. You should also be aware of the fact that the article lacks any reliable sources to suppport the text and that it would be worth ensuring that those can be provided. I would also strong advise you to read the guidelines on avoiding a potential conflict of interest. If you have any further questions, just post below this one and I will do my best to help. By the way, if you intend to edit regularly, I suggest that you consider creating an account.--CharlieDelta (talk) 21:14, 2 March 2012 (UTC)
New Page Triage engagement strategy released
Hey guys!
I'm dropping you a note because you filled out the New Page Patrol survey, and indicated you'd be interested in being contacted about follow-up work. This is to notify you that we've finally released both the initial documentation about the project and also the engagement strategy, which sets out how we plan to work with the community on this. Please give both a read, and leave any comments or suggestions you have on the talkpage, on my talkpage, or in my inbox - okeyeswikimedia.org.
It's awesome to finally get to start work on this! :). Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 02:02, 3 March 2012 (UTC)
Thanks so much for helping out with the backlog at Wikipedia:Suspected copyright violations! I try to get anything more than twenty-four hours old, but last week was incredibly busy at work, and I foresee this week being the same. (Also there probably would have been more backlog but I have to make the CSB code more resilient; its default response to unforeseen responses from a server is to die, and I don't have as much monitoring nor time to continually login and restart the bot as Coren may have. :x) Cheers! — madman 15:27, 5 March 2012 (UTC)
Adam Hargreaves article
Hi, I'm a little new here but I've been adding references to articles for a school assignment and I noticed you were looking for some additional sources for the article on Adam Hargreaves. I added a couple of recent ones; it appears he was interviewed for the 40th anniversary of his series and now there's a bit more information about him available. I'm not sure what the Wikipedian standards for source material is, however, so I would appreciate it if you could take a moment to see if the ones I added are suitable for the article. Thank you! Pferrete (talk) 20:40, 11 March 2012 (UTC)
- Hi! Thank you for your message. My comment about the lack of references was quite a long time ago and more references have been added since. But there's still room for improvement. In my view, the sentence you have added about the gallery work could be construed as a little promotional and the "life-long dream" is not really encyclopaedic language and (if a direct quote) lacked a citation. I've added the Hill & Hill Gallery as a reference for that quote to show you what I mean but it doesn't really count as a reliable source, unfortunately. But the principle of adding content and generally improving the article is a good one and I would encourage you to continue to do so. I see you've found the Teahouse as a good place to ask questions. I've added a belated "Welcome message" to your user page, which contains some links to useful information and you are, of course, welcome to drop by here as ask me a question any time.--CharlieDelta (talk) 06:48, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
Dear CharlieDelta
I just created the page António Palolo (portuguese artist - born 1946; died 2000) and the robot removed the connection to his portuguese page for some misterious reason! I'm still working on the portuguese page (I´ll soon publish an extended version). Can you help?Manuelvbotelho (talk) 11:31, 18 March 2012 (UTC)
- Hi! Apologies for the delay in replying. I have been travelling for a few days without internet access. To answer your question above, I see that in the meantime, the interwiki link to the Portuguese article has been replaced and seems to be functioning correctly. I have also added one in line citation and WikiProject tags on the talk page.--CharlieDelta (talk) 18:36, 21 March 2012 (UTC)
Hi. Everything is ok. Many thanks!Manuelvbotelho (talk) 19:03, 21 March 2012 (UTC)
Pandoc article copyright investigation
Dear CharlieDelta, i have just solved the copyright investigation by completing the process. Sending the permission email from the author to the departement and marked the page OTRS pending. Hope I did'nt bother you guys not to much. Wafelijzer (talk) 08:51, 23 March 2012 (UTC)
Hi, I have noted what you say about the article's copyright issue. May I request you to delete the page for time-being? I will begin working from scratch at some further point in time as I'm caught up in some more articles now. Thanks! (And yes, to confess, it was merely close paraphrasing) Merlaysamuel : Chat 17:36, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
- I am not an administrator, so can only notify others of your request (which I have done). I've also left a message on the article Talk page.--CharlieDelta (talk) 06:08, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
