Olá. I have had the pleasure to, let's call it largely extend, the above article, and extending and creating a few more articles regarding a group of early Brazilians in Europe. One, Jaguaré, is still missing, but is already well researched and to follow over the next few days. I consider Giudicelli historically very interesting and deem the article very well and exhaustively researched; I am actually a bit proud of it. There is no blurb out there that remotely compares. Do you reckon it would make a suitable candidate for "Good Article"? Abraço, Oalexander-En (talk) 06:49, 27 January 2012 (UTC)

Hi! The article looks great. I recommend you to request a peer review before nominating it for Good Article status. Regards, --Carioca (talk) 18:40, 27 January 2012 (UTC)

MSU Interview

Dear Carioca,

My name is Jonathan Obar user:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we teach students about becoming Wikipedia administrators. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the community HERE, were it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.

So a few things about the interviews:

  • Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
  • Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
  • All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
  • All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
  • The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.

Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. If interested, please send me an email at obar@msu.edu (to maintain anonymity) and I will add your name to my offline contact list. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can post your name HERE instead.

If you have questions or concerns at any time, feel free to email me at obar@msu.edu. I will be more than happy to speak with you.

Thanks in advance for your help. We have a lot to learn from you.

Sincerely,

Jonathan Obar --Jaobar (talk) 21:19, 8 February 2012 (UTC)

Quesitons for an MSU research project

Hello, I am involved with a research project for Michigan State University and am wondering if you would be able to answer a few questions regarding tool sets on Wikipedia. If so please let me know and I can post back to you. Here is a link to the project if you are interested Wikipedia:United States Education Program/Courses/Wiki-Project Management (Jonathan Obar) , and if you have any questions please let me know. What about it?

Hello, Carioca! We haven't met yet, but I'm a Brazilian editor, like you. Felipe Menegaz and I trying to bring back from the dead the Wikiproject Brazil. The Brazilian editors arounf are scattered, fighting on hostile ground by themselves, we must stick together, help each other, make great articles along the way. If you're there, please respond. Kind regards, --Lecen (talk) 20:16, 12 April 2012 (UTC)

Hi! I usually edit Brazilian football and Brazilian television/cinema pages. How can I help you? Regards, --Carioca (talk) 20:24, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
Being alive it's enough. Jokes aside, he and I are going tocreate a place for us to help each other. Let's say you want comments on an article you wrote, or in a dispute over a content, or you want us to review something you wrote, things like that. Unfortunately, despite our country's growth in the last 15 years, there are few foreign editors who seem intersted on Brazilian articles. That's more felt when we are stuck in a ridiculous edit war/content dispute with another editor, or when we need reviewers for our articles. We're utterly alone and that's what we want to change. Stay around, I'll bring you more news soon. Regards, Carioca. --Lecen (talk) 20:34, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
I have no plans to leave Wikipedia any time soon. If you need any help, let me know. Regards, --Carioca (talk) 20:36, 12 April 2012 (UTC)

Hello, my friend. I know it's not your field of interest, but I'd like to ask you to join the Empire of Brazil task force and have it added to your watchlist. It's a small place and it will be helpful to all editors interested on Brazilian articles to discuss how are we going to brig Wikiproject Brazil back to life. I'm counting on you! Regards, --Lecen (talk) 01:15, 14 April 2012 (UTC)

I reiterate the invite to join Empire of Brazil task force. It will be a place where we can gather the editors interested in reactivating the WikiProject Brazil and start to discuss our goals. Cheers; Felipe Menegaz 19:49, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
I do not have much interest in Empire of Brazil and history in general. I can help with sports, television/cinema and geography articles. --Carioca (talk) 20:18, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
That's ok. But you can sign the task force either way, as you're interested in Brazil-related topics, so we can start to coordinate the reactivation of WikiProject Brazil. Regards; Felipe Menegaz 18:43, 17 April 2012 (UTC)
Hello again! Do you have a Skype account? If not, you can download it here and follow the steps to register. I'm looking forward to a direct communication between all editors interested in the reactivation of WikiProject Brazil. Best regards; Felipe Menegaz 23:19, 22 April 2012 (UTC)

No, but I feel more comfortable discussing in the appropriate talk pages. --Carioca (talk) 20:07, 23 April 2012 (UTC)

Well, I'm not talking about audio conversations but a service of instant messages. Perhaps you could suggest another service which you feel comfortable, because instant messages would facilitate the discussion between the many editors. Kind regards; Felipe Menegaz 21:37, 23 April 2012 (UTC)

Question on fully-pro status of Copa do Brasil and Campeonato Pernambucano

Hello Carioca, I was hoping you could help clarify whether the first division of the PE state league and/or the Copa do Brasil only admit professional football clubs. Please join the discussion here if you can help. Best regards. Jogurney (talk) 22:51, 29 June 2012 (UTC)

Hi, I joined the discussion. Thanks for letting me know. Regards, --Carioca (talk) 19:50, 30 June 2012 (UTC)

Adryan Oliveira Tavares

Hi Carioca, can you redirect Adryan Oliveira Tavares to Adryan? The page is blocked. Thank you. OffsBlink (talk) 00:52, 19 July 2012 (UTC)

Brazil team page

Boa tarde Carioca,

Just wanted to let you know I changed the phrase because it's a bit confusing; the phrase "to date" by nature excludes 2014, making the sentence redundant.

OK. I reverted my edits. --Carioca (talk) 20:24, 10 August 2012 (UTC)

Rayner Michael - Football Player

Hi there,

I would like to know why you deleted Rayner Michael's wikipage

Thanks

Ramos — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.5.175.46 (talk) 23:52, 21 September 2012 (UTC)

The page was deleted on February 1, 2012 because it was an expired PROD, the subject of the page failed both WP:GNG and Wikipedia:NFOOTBALL. So, the article failed to demonstrate significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject (the subject is Rayner Michael). Also Rayner Michael did not play a game in a fully professional league (see list in this page). Hope that helps. --Carioca (talk) 20:22, 22 September 2012 (UTC)
