Manipuri cinema
Hi CactusWriter. Happy New Year to you. I see that you have just deleted a number of images uploaded by Thounaojam Chinglemba. I am wondering if you would mind taking a look at Manipuri Cinema for possible copyvios. The article creator and main contributor is the same editor and some of the content seems to come directly from e-pao
- Hi Marchjuly. You are correct -- those images and most of text used to create the article are blatant copyright violations. I have removed the text and images, and cleaned the history. I'm not sure if Thounaojam Chinglemba is paying attention to the numerous warnings and templates on their user page. But I have written a final warning message to them there. It notifies them that anymore problems will result in their being blocked from editing. I'll try to keep a watch on their contributions, but if you see any further violations please contact me or another administrator at Wikipedia talk:Copyright problems. Thanks for your diligence. — CactusWriter (talk) 19:04, 1 January 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you for checking. The same issue was raised before on their user talk by another editor, but there was no response and there have been no responses made to any of the other warnings on their page. I didn't think another user talk page post would have any effect, which is why I figure I'd ask an admin instead. -- Marchjuly (talk) 23:10, 1 January 2016 (UTC)
Issue for copy-pasting text
I have made pages for Manipuri films (Manipur is a state of India, in case if you don't know). Very few articles are available to give references for Manipuri films, and it is still very hard for me to make pages with limited articles. I have copy-pasted reviews from articles for respective Manipuri films I had made, and how could reviews from others be created by me?? (you told me to write things only which is of my own work and not copy-pasted from others). So, I have to copy-paste these small bit of things to provide some useful information to the readers who are searching in a particular topic. Please consider this. Thounaojam Chinglemba (talk) 10:59, 2 January 2016 (UTC)Thounaojam Chinglemba
Why did you delete the history section of Manipuri Cinema? I have copy-pasted from outside sources, just because histories are things which cannot be re-created by anyone else. It remains the same. I hope you understand what is 'history'. Please don't act on anything if you have little knowledge about the thing. Thounaojam Chinglemba (talk) 11:06, 2 January 2016 (UTC)
- Thounaojam Chinglemba -- I have gained a quite a bit of knowledge about violations of Wikipedia copyright during the past several of investigating complaints. And your violations in this area have been fairly blatant -- as evidenced by the numerous warnings you have received from various editors on your talk page. It does not matter how one rationalizes the copy pasting of outside non-compatibly licensed text -- it is a violation of Wikipedia copyright policy. And must not be done. The quick removal of these violations is necessary for legal reasons (as stated in the policy pages that I have already linked to you). The deletion from the history is a standard clean-up practice in some cases so that the violating text cannot be restored -- this is especially true for situations in which there appears to be a blatant disregard for copyright policy and editors have an inclination to restore the copyright violations. It is understood that writing text in original language is harder than simply copying someone else's words -- but difficulty does not relieve the responsibility to abide by policy. (Please read WP:COPYPASTE for more explanation.) I hope that from now on you will adhere to these policies because, as already mentioned to you, persistence in violations may result in your being permanently blocked from Wikipedia. If you have any questions about this, feel free to ask. Your contributions about the Manipur Cinema, those that are compliant with all WP policies, are appreciated. — CactusWriter (talk) 16:41, 2 January 2016 (UTC)
Angangba Mayek
Hi again CactusWriter. Just wanted to let you know that the Prod tag you added to Angangba Mayek was removed by an IP editor. I think this might be a case of WP:DUCK since the IP just started editing today and all of edits have been to articles previously edited by editors blocked per WP:SOCK. You're an admin so you probably know how to deal with this kind of thing better than I do. I guess all the edits the IP can be reverted per WP:BE, but I think it needs to be declared a sock first. Anyway, just thought you should know. -- Marchjuly (talk) 12:52, 7 January 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks, Marchjuly. Yes, I agree, that certainly is a duck account. The latest socking IPs have now been blocked by Drmies [1] and myself [2] and their edits reverted on the grounds of block evasion. I think this SPA spammer is probably a paid marketer for the Manipur film industry. It's a shame since some of the additions are certainly good, but the obvious promotion agenda and disregard for WP policies necessitated the blocks. I'm glad that you have contacted DeltaQuad since they made the primary blocks. I'd like to know from them if there was an SPI filed -- so that we can keep better track of this and reference it for duck blocks. — CactusWriter (talk) 17:23, 7 January 2016 (UTC)
- I think we've got a new duck in Special:Contributions/45.127.138.24. Same articles being edit and almost the same edits being made. -- Marchjuly (talk) 12:55, 8 January 2016 (UTC)
- Ugh! This is going to need a range block and a big one at that. -- inclusive of 45.127.138.6, 45.127.138.24, 45.127.138.131, 45.127.138.242. So we need a checkuser for the block to avoid all the collateral damage. It looks like we'll have to dump this at the feet of DeltaQuad. — CactusWriter (talk) 16:12, 8 January 2016 (UTC)

Usurped
- 09:47, 12 January 2016 CactusWriter (talk | contribs) deleted page Maciej Nędzi (A7: Article about a real person, which does not credibly indicate the importance or significance of the subject)
The page when I saw it had elements of and idiotic joke (evident for Polish speakers). The user who created this page was a decent contributor a year ago for a short while. Usurped account or high on weed? Staszek Lem (talk) 18:32, 12 January 2016 (UTC)
- Hi, Staszek Lem. I don't know the Polish language, so I was unaware of the joke (though there appeared to be some hoaxy material in the article). But I think it is difficult to assess any editor on the basis of only two days of editing a year apart. Unless there is a long established previous record of editing, we have to take the account at its current face value. — CactusWriter (talk) 16:01, 13 January 2016 (UTC)
Dear CactusWriter, You recently deleted Andrey Fomenko article. This person is a Russian billionaire with multiple mentions on Forbes and the largest real estate holder in St Petersburg, who recently pledged to spend his fortune on aging and age-related diseases by organizing iVAO (iVAO.com), largest high-impact investment house investing in moonshot companies. You have many insignificant politicians in this field on Wikipedia like Mikhail Batin, but here you have a real charitable and non-political billionaire with international reach. [3] [4] Please consider looking at this article again. 216.9.110.1 (talk) 02:05, 17 January 2016 (UTC)
- The article did not sufficiently establish a credible assertion of significance -- there were actually citations in it for Kyle Bass instead of the subject and that always raises red flags. (In regard to Mikhail Balin or any other article, please read the advice at Wikipedia:Other stuff exists.) I have moved the article to Draft:Andrey Fomenko so that you can work on it and receive advice from experienced editors. If you have questions, please ask. — CactusWriter (talk) 19:31, 17 January 2016 (UTC)
Portal talk:Contents/Archive 5
Hi! You correctly deleted Portal:Contents/Archive 5 as a test page after I tagged it, but I suspect the talk page should not have been deleted. Could you peek at the contents of Portal talk:Contents/Archive 5 and see if it is a genuine talk archive? -- John of Reading (talk) 18:17, 18 January 2016 (UTC)

Page misidentified as previously deleted page and speedily deleted
Hello CactusWriter, this is a kind information that the page World Youth Organization (WYO) was misidentified as a previously deleted page Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/World Youth Organization, but actually its certainly not the same or repost or related to that deleted page or content in anyway, A redirect link has been created from this page World Youth Organization to this page World Youth Organization (WYO) recently, I guess this might be the cause of this confusion, and further it may be noted that this page has been reviewed and verified by someone recently. So it is kindly requested to review and undelete the page. Thank you. Social Informer (talk) 22:17, 19 January 2016 (UTC)
- Done. Page is about a different organization than the one deleted at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/World Youth Organization. — CactusWriter (talk) 00:35, 20 January 2016 (UTC)

Request to recover the wikipedia page of "RNA Nanotechnology"
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am Congcong (username is Sucony). I recently found that one of my created page “RNA Nanotechnology” has been deleted. I apologize for my insufficient information in this page since I am trying to work on it these days and I need to collect more information to complete it.
So could you please help me recover this page so that I can make it more complete and sound to meet the requirement?
Thank you for your assistance in advance and look forward to hearing back from you.
Best, CongcongSucony (talk) 14:42, 28 January 2016 (UTC)
- @Sucony:. The article has been restored temporarily in draft space at Draft:RNA nanotechnology. You can work on it there. When you have finished building the article, please press the review button and the page will be reviewed by an editor to determine if it is ready to be moved into Wikipedia's article space. Good luck with your editing. — CactusWriter (talk) 17:38, 30 January 2016 (UTC)
Dear Sir/Madam, We want to create article about Amardeep Tiwana. but this page is protected why? can you tell me how to make this page.Eternallight12 (talk) 13:02, 30 January 2016 (UTC)
- Hi Eternallight12. The page was created numerous times by several accounts as Amardeep Tiwana, Mr. Amardeep Tiwana and other iterations - then deleted each time for lack of any credible assertion of significance as well as blatant promotion. If you wish to create an article, I suggest that you use Wikipedia:Articles for creation to make a draft copy. The draft copy can be reviewed to insure that it meets all Wikipedia's policies. If it passes review, than it can be moved to the article space. — CactusWriter (talk) 17:23, 30 January 2016 (UTC)
AFD
Hi, On the first AFD some editor had removed the AFD relists for some reason (so thus I reverted that AFD thinking it was closed after a week of no relistings) and well once I realized it had been relisted and thus reinstated the close with the relists I completely forgot to check the pages so basically thanks for reverting me!, The joys of AFD eh !. –Davey2010Talk 02:08, 1 February 2016 (UTC)
- No, problem, Dave. We all make the occasional unintentional mistake (including the editor who removed the re-list templates). Cheers. — CactusWriter (talk) 19:06, 1 February 2016 (UTC)

World Youth Organization Page under trouble, protection required
Hello CactusWriter, this is to inform that this page World Youth Organization is under trouble and possible vandalism may occurred, seems like the data from this deleted article Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/World Youth Organization was forcibly added to this article and found to be reverted several times, now the page World Youth Organization is suddenly moved to World Youth Organization (India) with out any notice or opinion. kindly check and revert the page to original link and protect it to avoid future troubles. Social Informer (talk) 06:42, 4 February 2016 (UTC)
- The renaming or moving an article for the purposes of disambiguation is not vandalism, in itself. If there are two organizations with the same name, then the article titles should be distinguished through our rules of WP:DISAMBIGUATION. Disagreements about whether or not one article is a primary topic should be discussed among the editors on the article talk page. Discussion among the parties should always be the first, second and third courses of action. — CactusWriter (talk) 17:30, 4 February 2016 (UTC)
Request to restore the subject World Youth Organization (India) to original title World Youth Organization where it was present initially
Hello, CactusWriter,
This was the original article World Youth Organization (India) that was present in this title World Youth Organization, that was established on 2012, which has notability and sufficient verifiable sources. But that original subject that was present on this title was recently moved to an incorrect title World Youth Organization (India), It is requested that the subject World Youth Organization (India) which was originally present on this title World Youth Organization initially need to be restored. Following are the sources verifying that.

Further I hereby kindly state that, how it would be fair to move the article World Youth Organization to different title World Youth Organization (India) as another organization was started with the same name in 2016 that does not cite any reliable source for notable achievements to take place in wikipedia main space. Markonal (talk) 21:39, 4 February 2016 (UTC)
- @Markonal: (or Social Informer?), my response remains the same as previously stated to you above. (See response). — CactusWriter (talk) 21:49, 4 February 2016 (UTC)

Please restore Template:Architect
On 5 December 2015 you deleted Template:Architect as G2 - test page. That template is how WikiProject Architecture recommends editors start biographies about architects (see Wikipedia:WikiProject_Architecture#Using starter templates). Would you restore it?
- If so, is there anything the WikiProject should do to keep this from happening again? WP:G2 actually says it doesn't apply to valid templates...
- If it shouldn't be restored, is there a preferred alternative mechanism for generating article skeletons that the WikiProject should be instructing authors to use?
Thanks, Worldbruce (talk) 05:20, 22 February 2016 (UTC)
- Hi, Worldbruce. The page that I deleted as a test page was not a template. It was actually created only 6 days prior, on 30 November 2015, with the entire content of: "I am awesome." (So there is nothing to restore there.) I see from the deletion history that the page you are referring to was deleted back in 2013 by User:Nyttend as WP:T2 -- Templates that are unambiguous misrepresentations of established policy. I am unsure of the policy that the page violated -- you should ask Nyttend about that. As far as using the template is concerned, from my experience most wikiprojects list a style and format guide for the creation of articles. If a template is to be used, then it is best to have a documentation page. (e.g. this page is transcluded at template:infobox architect.) This would help a passing admin more easily recognize an established template. Also, at the Wikiproject starter instructions, I would suggest that it recommend pages be created in sandbox or draft space first -- this might help new editors from having their pages too speedily tagged for lack of content. If you need more help, let me know. Cheers. — CactusWriter (talk) 18:19, 22 February 2016 (UTC)
- Worldbruce, I'll undelete. Someone deleted it as a test page, and I restored because it wasn't a proper use of the criterion — but I quickly realised my mistake and redeleted it, this time as an unambiguous misrepresentation of policy. Basically, templates mustn't hang around as random text, replacements for articles, so it was a misrepresentation of policy as far as I could see. Given your explanation, it's clear that I misunderstood. Let me suggest, however, that it be moved from its current place to a wikiproject subpage, which could then be substituted somewhere — keeping it as a template leaves open the possibility of other people misunderstanding its purpose and re-suggesting deletion, but putting it as a wikiproject subpage should avoid that problem. Hello, I was wondering if you can help me. Somebody, and I am pretty sure that it is an ex of mine, has been repeatedly vandalizing my father's wikipedia page. My father recently died and this person is consistently changing my name on his page as well as putting in links to my recent wedding. Which is spam and totally irrelevant to my father. I have asked them to stop but they won't. They log in from different user accounts which show no other edits on Wikipedia so it is obviously targeted at me. The 2 different IP addresses they have used to target me are both from Portland, Oregon. Please help me stop him from harassing me in this way, at least. Thank you so much. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ananymity (talk • contribs) 07:59, 26 February 2016 (UTC)
Sorry I'm new at this, the page with the repeated spam vandalism is Michael Masser's. I am determined to stop him from doing this, how can I get a lock on the page? This person has a history of obsessive and threatening behavior and I haven't seen him in over a decade and since my father's death and my recent wedding he has been able to find me online and keeps trying to mess with me. It is pathetic and I'd like to see him blocked, thank you so much. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ananymity (talk • contribs) 08:01, 26 February 2016 (UTC)
- Hello, @Ananymity: The page Michael Masser has been placed temporarily on review to prevent the current editing problems. In addition, I have removed the names of his children per Wikipedia policy at WP:BLP and Template:Infobox person. That is, for privacy reasons, we omit the names of children if they are not independently notable. For the time being, I will place the article on my watch list, however it is not always possible for any editor to keep a permanent eye on any article. Please note that anyone who has concerns about material they find about themselves on a Wikipedia page, may contact the Wikimedia Foundation's volunteer response team (known as OTRS). Please e-mail info-en-q@wikimedia.org with a link to the article and details of the problem. For more information on how to get an error corrected, see here. Pasi Sahlberg
Hello, I created this article which you deleted. Sorry about that. I copied some of the content from Prof. Sahlberg's web site, pasisahlberg.com, while asking permission from him to use it in his Wikipedia article. He has not replied yet. Therefore, I rewrote the article based on that data, using my own language. I ask you to re-create this article. I write in the Hebrew Wikipedia. I intend to write a Hebrew article as well. Thanks! Avneref (talk) 07:24, 28 February 2016 (UTC)
- Hi, Avneref. I reviewed the history of the deleted article and, as you state, it was copied from the website and even the rewrite was based on a close paraphrasing of the original copyrighted content, therefore it needed to be deleted. I cannot restore the article because that, in itself, would be a copyright violation. It needs to be rewritten. I have no problem if you wish to create an article about Pasi Sahlberg from scratch. I do remind you, though, that biographies of living people must be primarily based on independent reliable sources and not on the individual's personal website. (see WP:BLPSELFPUB). This helps avoid using language or making statements which might fail our core Neutrality policy. Good luck with your editing. — CactusWriter (talk) 16:41, 28 February 2016 (UTC)

Lisa Christine Holmberg page
Hi, CactusWriter! I have a question about the Lisa Christine Holmberg page that you deleted back in 2014. I've been talking to one of the users, Loriendrew, from the old deletion discussion. See our conversation at: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Loriendrew#Lisa_Christine_Holmberg_page Loriendrew says, "The draft does not look shabby and cannot be confused with the original version." I'm interested in making Lisa Christine Holmberg a page again since it has been completely revamped. I also completely removed the parts that got the article deleted in the first place. I have the new article here at Draft:Lisa Christine Holmberg. Would you help me with it? I'd really appreciate it. I'd also appreciate any suggestions before I submit it. Thank you! WikiConqueror (talk) 03:21, 8 March 2016 (UTC)
- Hi, WikiConqueror. I looked at the new draft version of the article and agreed with the reviewer that it "doesn't come close to passing notability criteria." This appears to be a purely promotional article about an average teenager who has a career goal but has not yet established any significant accomplishments in a field. Brief mentions in local news articles about the youth choir or 4H club (and touted as "interviews") are insignificant. A statement that a home-schooled child graduated "summa cum laude" (meaning their parents gave them good grades) and sourced to a self-published bio is promotional puffery. Although there is more to the article, these types of items are red flags that it is a padded puff piece. I suggest that any article about this individual wait a few years until she has established a notable career, at which time someone unassociated with her can create a WP:NPOV page based upon significant coverage in independent reliable sources and without a conflict-of-interest. Cheers. — CactusWriter (talk) 17:13, 8 March 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you for taking the time to look at my draft. The last time I submitted the draft, the admin said that it was unclear whether it had the notability criteria, so I worked on it some more and just wanted to see where I was at in that process. I think it must be very subjective, especially since my conversation with Loriendrew was so positive about my work. I am in no way trying to make a promotional article for the actor, and if it's coming off that way, I'd like your help to change that. For example, as you can see I completely deleted the summa cum laude part, per your advice. I respect your work, and I'm sick of getting my articles shot down and would like all the advice you have. I'm pretty sure that the actor has reached notability, since they've been main characters in some big movies. I understand that the local news about 4-H isn't notable, but there are other citations as well that I think achieve this. Is there another part of the article that I should change like the summa cum laude? I was just adding the information that I could find online. Please let me know. WikiConqueror (talk) 20:22, 8 March 2016 (UTC)
- Wikiconqueror, I did read the comment that Loreindrew wrote and saw that they did not make any positive indication that the draft meets Wikipedia requirements for a biography of a notable person. They only stated the possibility that the page may have improved since the AFD determined the person was non-notable. However, five separate reviews in the last two months ([5][6],[7], [8],[9]) did state that the individual Lisa Christine Holmberg does not currently meet notability criteria. I agree with those assessments. I feel it is wasted effort to continue to fiddle with an article that for now has no chance of becoming a valid article. There are plenty of other valid areas in Wikipedia which can be improved and I suggest that it is more constructive that you move on to some of those. — CactusWriter (talk) 18:32, 11 March 2016 (UTC)
- I have been working on other articles. I only submitted the draft multiple times because I wanted feedback from admins about my editing to know where the article was at in the draft process. I really am trying hard to make good articles and useful contributions. I appreciate your time. WikiConqueror (talk) 23:56, 12 March 2016 (UTC)

Cartoonist from Pakistan
Hello My name is Mudassar Butt I am a Cartoonist from Pakistan first time user of Wikipedia. I along with my teachers and professors host and organise Comic Con PK a cartoonists convention. As a concerned cartoonist and part time writer I decided to make my own page and also I have been requested by others in my city to create cartoonist pages from articles in newspaper published from my region and some land mark galleries where me and my students work is being Curated since I don't know many people from my country who make Wiki pedia Pages about their teacher and peers and such I wanted to try out first by documenting me and my students work and pages of my professors and teachers. I noticed that your deleted the page base on some missing citations. So I would like to know how can I add that from articles on other sites written on the events that we(my team and I )
1 Curated. 2 The Comic Books that we have Published and are going to Publish 3 The Conventions that we have hosted 4 and does Wikipedia allows Video Interviews to be added as links.
There is one more person that is adding content about it but that person is not that tech savy and neither am I aobut Wikipedia's rules and regs. so can you guide us.
Please and thank you
Also I don't even know if this message is suppose to be added here ask for your help.

- Hi, Mudassar Butt. It's great that you wish to improve Wikipedia with articles about Pakistani cartoonist. I would suggest that you use the WP:Article wizard which can guide you through the basic process. However, I must warn you that we do have policies against creating autobiographies (as you did with your first article) or creating articles about friends and colleagues. (Please read WP:AUTOBIOGRAPHY and Conflict of Interest). I must also ask you to create a new user name because Wikipedia does not allow user names we represent a product. I am leaving a templated message on your talk page describing the problem and the correction procedure. if you have further questions, please feel free to ask. Page deleted
May you tell me why my page was deleted so that maybe it can be fixed? HakuKame3 (talk) 01:55, 29 March 2016 (UTC)
- Hi HakuKame3. The page LiEat was deleted because there was not enough information (nor any sourcing) to identify the subject. I suggest that the next time you create a page that you use the WP:Article Wizard -- this will help guide you through the necessary requirements for a viable Wikipedia article. It also will allows you to obtain help from other editors during the process. Good luck with your editing. Cheers. — CactusWriter (talk) 16:48, 29 March 2016 (UTC)
Hello CactusWriter, would you please review the settings you have applied to this article. While I'm generally in support of WP:IAR temporary measures, please note that there is not a general community support for discretionary application of the extended confirmed protection level, or the PC2 stable changes level. Thank you, — xaosflux Talk 01:41, 18 June 2016 (UTC)
- I have reduced ECP to SPP and PC2 to PC1. If this needs these settings definitively, I think documenting at WP:AN or WP:AN/I would be best. Best regards, — xaosflux Talk 17:34, 18 June 2016 (UTC)
- Also, as SPP precludes PC1 from being used, I have removed that. Feel free to swap SPP with PC1 without discussion. Feel free to also upgrade to FPP without discussion if you feel it is needed. — xaosflux Talk 17:39, 18 June 2016 (UTC)
- Hi, Xaosflux. Sorry for the slow response -- I have been away. The change in PP level was a quick slip of the wrong button. Thanks for correcting it. The article was originally protected due to BLP violations following the decease of the individual and some apparent intra-family disputes. A request was made for the removal of names for personal privacy issues. An OTRS request was suggested and the article was scrubbed and protected. Thanks again for rechecking it. — CactusWriter (talk) 14:12, 20 June 2016 (UTC)

Restoration of page
Hi, can I have Will Hartman restored to article space? Thanks.--Prisencolin (talk) 00:46, 25 June 2016 (UTC)
- An article about with no assertion of notability and with "just kidding" written at the end is inppropriate for Wikipedia. — CactusWriter (talk) 21:08, 29 August 2016 (UTC)
Restoration of page
Hi can you please restore Plini https://www.ultimate-guitar.com/news/ug_news/ug_awards_2015_top_12_guitarists_of_the_year.html - critial acclaim, ranked 8th in 2015 by Ultimate Guitar, that is the biggest guitarist website — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kaziqta (talk • contribs) 19:09, 16 August 2016 (UTC)
- A fan forum does meet reliable source criteria. The same problem exists since the AFD at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Plini. — CactusWriter (talk) 21:06, 29 August 2016 (UTC)
Extended confirmed protection
Hello, CactusWriter. This message is intended to notify administrators of important changes to the protection policy.
Extended confirmed protection (also known as "30/500 protection") is a new level of page protection that only allows edits from accounts at least 30 days old and with 500 edits. The automatically assigned "extended confirmed" user right was created for this purpose. The protection level was created following this community discussion with the primary intention of enforcing various arbitration remedies that prohibited editors under the "30 days/500 edits" threshold to edit certain topic areas.
In July and August 2016, a request for comment established consensus for community use of the new protection level. Administrators are authorized to apply extended confirmed protection to combat any form of disruption (e.g. vandalism, sock puppetry, edit warring, etc.) on any topic, subject to the following conditions:
- Extended confirmed protection may only be used in cases where semi-protection has proven ineffective. It should not be used as a first resort.
- A bot will post a notification at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard of each use. MusikBot currently does this by updating a report, which is transcluded onto the noticeboard.
Please review the protection policy carefully before using this new level of protection on pages. Thank you.
This message was sent to the administrators' mass message list. To opt-out of future messages, please remove yourself from the list. 17:48, 23 September 2016 (UTC)
Two-Factor Authentication now available for admins
Hello,
Please note that TOTP based two-factor authentication is now available for all administrators. In light of the recent compromised accounts, you are encouraged to add this additional layer of security to your account. It may be enabled on your preferences page in the "User profile" tab under the "Basic information" section. For basic instructions on how to enable two-factor authentication, please see the developing help page for additional information. Important: Be sure to record the two-factor authentication key and the single use keys. If you lose your two factor authentication and do not have the keys, it's possible that your account will not be recoverable. Furthermore, you are encouraged to utilize a unique password and two-factor authentication for the email account associated with your Wikimedia account. This measure will assist in safeguarding your account from malicious password resets. Comments, questions, and concerns may be directed to the thread on the administrators' noticeboard. A new user right for New Page Patrollers
Hi CactusWriter.
A new user group, New Page Reviewer, has been created in a move to greatly improve the standard of new page patrolling. The user right can be granted by any admin at PERM. It is highly recommended that admins look beyond the simple numerical threshold and satisfy themselves that the candidates have the required skills of communication and an advanced knowledge of notability and deletion. Admins are automatically included in this user right.
It is anticipated that this user right will significantly reduce the work load of admins who patrol the performance of the patrollers. However, due to the complexity of the rollout, some rights may have been accorded that may later need to be withdrawn, so some help will still be needed to some extent when discovering wrongly applied deletion tags or inappropriate pages that escape the attention of less experienced reviewers, and above all, hasty and bitey tagging for maintenance. User warnings are available here but very often a friendly custom message works best.
If you have any questions about this user right, don't hesitate to join us at WT:NPR. (Sent to all admins).MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:47, 15 November 2016 (UTC)
ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open!
Hello, CactusWriter. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)
Plini
Hello, I noticed that you were the last admin who deleted Plini in 2014. Since then, Plini has been covered by several notable publications such as Guitar World [11] and Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles [12]. I kindly ask if you could unblock the creation of the article so i could start working on it. Thanks. --Λeternus (talk) 09:05, 28 November 2016 (UTC)
