Congratulations to our 225 new members |
The newsletter is back! Many things have gone on during the past few months, but many things have not. While the assessment drive helped revitalize the assessment department of the project, many other departments have received no attention. Most notably: peer review and our "workgroups". A day long IRC meeting has been planned for October 13th, with the major focus being which areas of the project are "dead", what should our goals be as a project, and how to "revive" the dead areas of our project. Contribute to the discussion on the the new channel (see below) We decided to deliver this newsletter to all project members this month but only those with their names down here will get it delivered in the future. This is your newsletter and you can be involved in the creation of the next issue. Any and all contributions are welcome. Simply let yourself be known to any of the undersigned or post news on the next issue's talk page
Lastly, a new WikiProject Biography channel has been set up on the freenode network: Our thanks to Phoenix 15 for setting it up.

Massacres during the Greek Revolution
Denizz could you check this article, it doesnt matter whether or not you agree with me about the edits that i have done, you can simply pay a visit to discussion section of this article to get a hold of the debate..--laertes d 19:03, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
- That article needs a thorough look, I will do tat later, hopefully. But, I checked the talk page, the tone of your discussions is better now. DenizTC 17:32, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
Resimler
Denizz, sana şunu söylemeliyim ki Türkiye article'larındaki resimlerin çoğunu arkadaşlarım çekti ve ben Wikimedia Commons'a ekledim. Bazen benim eklediğim resimleri beğenmeyip, yine benim eklediğim başka resimlerle değiştiriyorsun. İstersen Wikimedia Commons'a gidip hepsini sileyim, ama Türkiye article'ları bir anda maymunun poposuna dönerler, ayrı mesele. Yani "tereciye tere satma" demek istiyorum. 151.37.183.252 23:02, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
Striker buzcu
user:LewisHamiltonTR IS striker buz matrix from the Turkish wikipedia and has a thousand other names in other wikipedias. We have just blocked him in the Hungarian wiki for flooding the Turkish artciles with machine-translated texts. See hu:User:LewisHamiltonTR for more info. BE very careful with this guy, I do think he has serious mental illnesses :) - or just simply an annoying vandal.... Let's keep an eye on him, I suggest. - Really, I don't understand these recent semi-threats on my talkpage (Striker Buzcu and Flavius), there were none before. I will respond them when they rephrase what they want in a better way in any language I know. DenizTC 17:36, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
sözde "Turkish diaspora in Bulgaria"
diaspora yurtışına giden göçmenleri konu alır. Oysa ki Bulgaristandaki Türkler yurtdışında değiller, ve yerliler. ABD'deki İngilizlere "English diaspora in USA" diyebilir misin? lütfen düzeltmemi tekrar geri almayın —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ilhanli (talk • contribs) 18:43, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
My recent RfA
Thank you for supporting my RfA, which unfortunately didn't succeed. The majority of the opposes stated that I needed more experience in the main namespace and Wikipedia namespace, so that is what I will do. I will go for another RfA in two month's time and I hope you will be able to support me then as well. If you have any other comments for me or wish to be notified when I go for another RfA, please leave them on my talk page. If you wish to nominate me for my next RfA, please wait until it has been two months. Thanks again for participating in my RfA! -- Cobi(t|c|b|cn) 02:02, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

Kurmanji
Hi Denizz, the reason for a separation of "Northern Kurmanji" and "Kurmanji" is because the former is a sub-dialect and the latter is a language or class of dialects. It would not make sense to merge the two unless we also consider merging "Sorani" with Kurmanji, since it is also a sub-dialect like Northern Kurmanji.
Also, the Kurmanci (linguistics) page was created to remove previous confusion between another page that was used to refer to a magazine. Furthermore, it was to remove the confusion that Northern Kurmanji and Kurmanji are one in the same. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kurdology1 (talk • contribs) 17:05, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for your comments Denizz. The reason why Kurmanci (linguistics) was used, instead of Kurmanji was because I was trying to follow a similar format used for the Gorani class of dialects spoken by people in the Middle East under Gorani (linguistics). I thought this fit under the WP:NAME policy since the latter had no objections. Also, according to the logic, there may be needed consideration for articles such as Sorani, Kurmanji and Gorani (linguistics) to be placed under the Kurdish language since they are all dialects or classes of spoken by Kurds, as was done similarly with the Turkish language article. I did not make these changes but they should be considered if Northern Kurmanji is merged with Kurmanji. Kurdology1 (talk • contribs) 16 October 2007 (UTC)
NPOV policy violation
Please do not add commentary or your own personal analysis to Wikipedia articles, as you did to Great Fire of Smyrna. Doing so violates Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy and breaches the formal tone expected in an encyclopedia. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Thank you.--Tedblack 15:33, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

Lists of Mayors of Turkey
Selamlar. Must.T C 10:14, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

The Ottoman warrior mentality of the Anatolian Greeks
I request your help to face a disgusting and offensive behaviour against we Turks from a nationalist Greek named Cplakidas in the article Greco-Italian War. He denies the evidence of scholars like the British Mack Smith (with precise book & page references) about the fact that the Greek army was able to stop temporarily the Italian army in Epirus because the soldiers were nearly one third (or more) Anatolian Greeks (moved to Greece after the 1922 exchange of populations) who had the warrior mentality of Ottomans. That is the reason the Greeks fought bravely and not like "a bit coward" Balkan Greeks, as they have always done. And this is confirmed indirectly by the same Churchill who compared the Greek resistance in Epirus to the one of our glorious soldiers in the Dardanelles during WWI. The same bravery of the soldiers of beloved Ataturk, wrote Churchill. But the nationalist Cplakidas erases all this references and call racist the reference to Smith & Churchill. I believe Cplakidas is the racist when denies that our courage was transmitted to the Anatolian Greeks after centuries of our domination and influence on them. Read the related talkpage to see how he denies even the declarations of the Italian generals about their mistake in evaluating the strength and resolution to fight of the "renowned weak" and corrupt Greek army.Eteturk —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.215.160.97 (talk) 16:13, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
Is there any reason why you removed the flags and removed the section on US? -- Cat chi? 15:42, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
- As far as I know, section titles should not be wikilinks. I remember reading it somewhere, but I don't know where. It might be some technical thing. DenizTC 15:46, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
- There is no such thing. I was asking why you removed the flags in general, not just the ones in sections. -- Cat chi? 16:09, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
- I don't see any reasons for flags there, it is a short section, we already have the EU etc wikilink, it has distracted me, can distract others as well, we don't have a table or long list there, and it does not convey much. I won't revert again, but I think this way it is better. DenizTC 16:24, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

Misak-ı Milli Map
Actually, I prepared that image long time ago to replace an ultra-nationalist propaganda map in the article. I designed it for temporary use but I see it turned out to be a permanent one. A more scientific image should be created with great detail to show exactly what Misak-ı Milli is. I made the current map with my humble knowledge and it possibly lacks accuracy in the Balkan borders too. Sadly, I don't have a special software to prepare maps. Also, we must clearly state that there are principles which were decided on by the last Ottoman parliament and there is a designed map which was inspired by the last Ottoman govenrment and built according to the ideals of the Turkish National Movement. Both of these things are called Misak-ı Milli. Deliogul 16:30, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

My photoes
Denizz, thanks for your interest! Anyways Im now busy and also sorry I cant understand the reason of your questions. Sedahoka is really an OK photo, also Shushimassacre and Shu30 all were checked by admins so no problem. no time to change something in this photoes as I think everything is ok. If no, than a deletion process will go on, and than Ill change any tags according to the bot report or even maybe Ill agree with deletion of some of them. So sorry your questions are not seems to be based on any rules rather they are questions for discussions. Thank you for understanding! Andranikpasha 22:27, 27 October 2007 (UTC)
PS- For "inf purpose" I mean it is ok to use in Wiki as I respect the Copyright.
And if any photo is free for public use sometimes it just means it is allowed according to any other country's laws (f.e. there werent any copyright law in Soviet in 1930's so any photo is completely free if it was published previously). Andranikpasha 22:27, 27 October 2007 (UTC)
- But that other country should be where it is published, I think. Also I am not sure "for informational use only" is welcome here. I believe my concerns were legit, and I would like them to be taken care of by you, before doing any IFD. I think it is not that good to archive live discussions. If you say that you will take care of them as soon as possible, when you have more time, I can wait. DenizTC 22:37, 27 October 2007 (UTC)
"wikifasting"
I have been on wikifasting lately, I try to check Wikipedia only every a few days. I tend to eat a lot when I break fasting, that is what happened today, and I spent a lot of time, once again. Anyway, when I 'promise' to do something, or when you ask me to do something, I might be late to take an action, and sometimes I might forget all about it. Please do remind me here.
