Speedy deletion of Aleksandr Krokhmal
[edit]A tag has been placed on Aleksandr Krokhmal requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. PoinDexta1 | Talk to Me | 01:21, 26 September 2008 (UTC)

[edit]Hi,
Common WP practice is not to use Uunicode ligatures for 'lj', 'nj', and 'dž' affricates. You should create redirects to non-ligature spellings, not move normal spellings to them. 99.999% speakers doesn't know how to type them (barely anyone knows that they exist), and sometimes they're wrongly displayed on some computers without the caron on 'ž' (i.e. like 'dz' instead of 'dž') --Ivan Štambuk (talk) 15:26, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
Undoing edits
[edit]24.* is a known troll. No Slavic handbook that I know of (and I can assure you I've read them much more than you did) divides the South Slavic "branch" into West, Central and East, based on genetic-dialectological criteria. 24.* user has been trolling talkpages for almost a year (no edits in the main namespace), utilizing phrases such as "cro nationalistic propaganda" and "pathetic lies" whenever someone tries to question his worldview. There is no space for non-topical trolling, insults and threats to users on the talkpages, per WP:TALK, WP:TROLL and WP:NPA. Cheers. --Ivan Štambuk (talk) 13:36, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
- He is perhaps a troll, I don't know him ; but YOU, you are not a so-called Kaiser in en.Wikipedia nor in Slavic languages. Do you consider this Wikipedia as your own private property ? --Budelberger (talk) 13:49, 2 November 2008 (UTC) ().
- No I'm not a "Kaiser", as WP article are not "mine": but do you really think edits of a person that persisently calls others "fascists" comparing them to Hitler, "chauvinist nationalists", "retards", spreading "pathetic lies" etc. worth keeping? If he is interested in a constructive discussion, he is welcomed to do so, but implying some hidden "nationalism" and "vandalism" in the edits of anyone who disagrees with him is a not a way of doing so. If he cannot cope with verifiable opinions of experts in the fields, that is his and his problem only. You look up in any Slavic historical handbook whether South Slavic branch is divided onto genetic-dialectologic basis in Western and Eastern, or Western, Central and Eastern subbranches yourself, and see who is the real "vandal". --Ivan Štambuk (talk) 21:00, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

[edit]Please make your case for changes to the Barack Obama entry at Talk:November 4. Simply reverting changes without discussion is not productive and you will run into issues with WP:3RR. Thanks. -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 14:04, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
- The name of your Obama is « Barack Hussein Obama II » (see Barack Obama ; he is not yet elected « President of the USA » (on 2008/01/20) (et j'espère bien qu'il ne le sera pas !) --Budelberger (talk) 14:14, 5 November 2008 (UTC) ().

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on November 4. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution. Deor (talk) 15:50, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
Speedy deletion of Bedlam (band)
[edit]A tag has been placed on Bedlam (band) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. AfD nomination of Bedlam (band)
[edit]I have nominated Bedlam (band), an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Bedlam (band). Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 16:58, 18 November 2008 (UTC)

Vandalism
[edit]Hi, Budelberger! I don't know about other Wikipedias, but here, in the English edition, heavily vandalized articles can be semi-protected no problem, in full accordance with WP:SEMI. This protection can be indefinite for pages "subject to heavy and persistent vandalism or violations of content policy". Whether a page is subject to such condition, however, is up to the judgement of an administrator who is invested in the topic covered by the article in question. What this means is that I can't just systematically go through your list and indef-semi-protect whatever you have on it, because I am simply not comfortable doing so due to my insufficient knowledge of the topics covered and, thus, being unable to determine what level of vandalism would be normal or unusually high. On the other hand, if for any particular article in your list you happen to know an administrator who routinely edits in that area, they should be able to apply indef-semi-protect when asked, providing, of course, that their perception of the level of vandalism matches the definition in WP:SEMI. Whether you consider the said administrators to be polluters and ignoramuses, should not, in the end, affect their decision :) Hope this helps, and thanks for an opportunity to practice my French (to prevent you from dying from laughter while reading my response in French, I am responding in English as to provide you with a similar practice opportunity).—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 22:05, January 19, 2009 (UTC)
- I do have a stupefying collection myself, and it, regretfully, contains a few examples of my own behavior. Regarding kneeling at their feet, that's not precisely what I had in mind. I am an admin, yet you have no problem asking me, right? I honestly don't care whether you include me with the ugly, analphabêtes, illiterate, ignarrogant bunch—we are all illiterate about something, and in a project about everything that is bound to show sooner or later, especially among admins, who are supposed to be able to deal with all kinds of fires. A bad admin is not bad because he does not know something (perhaps very important) about some topic, s/he is bad because s/he is unable to admit it to others or is actively trying to pull rank on regular editors because of his/her status. Me, like I said, I prefer to edit the topics I know something about and delegate the rest to folks who know better.
- Anyway, regarding the template, I don't believe there is one. You can still drop a note on an article's talk page requesting semi-protection, though. I understand this is probably less than an ideal solution for you, but it is still better than asking around to see if there is a consenting admin available to cast a semi-prot wand :) Hopefully, the vandalism issue will be alleviated to a large degree once Flagged Revisions are implemented.
- On that note, I wanted to ask you whether the vandalism to the articles on your list is corrected fairly efficiently. If it is, it may be better in the long run to avoid any kind of protection (on the off-chance that in IP makes an edit that is actually useful—even in this day and age it is still not unfathomable). If it is not, it should be fairly obvious to any person who watches the article, especially to the admins; in which case semi-prot would be justified. Call me an idealist, but I still like unprotected articles better than protected ones, even if it means more work :)
- Finally, regarding French, it is not that much a matter of me not wanting to write back in this beautiful language, as it is the fact that, for various reasons, my passive French vocabulary exceeds my active vocabulary by several orders of magnitude. To add to that, my grammar is virtually non-existent—while I intuitively understand how sentences are constructed and why they are constructed one way and not the other, constructing them on my own is pure torture. Nothing a good practice can't cure, but since there is absolutely no place to use French in my life now, even if I practice, my French will deteriorate back to its current miserable condition once I stop.—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 17:25, January 20, 2009 (UTC)
AFD notice removal
[edit]Hi, just noticed you removed the AFD notice from Ukaan language while the debate was still running. Please don't do this in future; the notice should be left on until an uninvolved editor closes the debate according to the deletion rules. JulesH (talk) 20:44, 4 April 2009 (UTC)

[edit]It is photographic facsimile if you want to be precise. It can be confused with edited in the 18th and 19th century facsimilies. infobox French communes
[edit]Sorry, I don't like the way this discussion is going. I didn't start this reverting circus. As you can see at the history, User:ChrisDHDR, who added the demonym, removed it after our discussion on the talk page Template talk:Infobox French commune. That a parameter is optional doesn't mean that it is invisible for readers who don't like the parameter: it only means that the infobox still works if the parameter is not given. I will not remove the demonym in the next 24 hours, but I do expect arguments from you why the demonym should be included, on the talk page of the infobox. Markussep Talk 13:02, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
- If you are a reader who doesn't like this parameter, don't like it, don't see it, don't read it. --Budelberger ( ) 13:18, 19 April 2009 (UTC).
- See Wikipedia:Manual of Style (infoboxes)#General advice. Some quotations: "Creating overly long templates with a number of irrelevant fields is not recommended" and "Is it summary information, or more extended detail that may be better placed within the body of an article?" As I wrote at Template talk:Infobox French commune, I don't think the demonyms for towns in France are relevant for the infobox (or even English wikipedia), for the following reasons:
- Very few towns have an English demonym (the only one I can think of is "Parisian")
- English demonyms are given in infoboxes of countries and some large English-speaking cities, and I can see the use of that. Not for French demonyms
- No demonyms are given for large cities in other non-English speaking countries
- Too many irrelevant or not very relevant fields clog up the infobox, making it less convenient and user-friendly. I think demonyms for French towns are irrelevant for English wikipedia.
- For example, we could add the male/female ratio of the population, the number of shops and the number of pets per household to the infobox, but is that relevant summary information? You haven't given a single argument pro yet. Markussep Talk 13:48, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
- I'm going to remove the demonym now, since you haven't given any arguments for keeping it. Markussep Talk 16:09, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

Bonjour
[edit]Hello, are you speaking about line 6 of page 9 (Հանդէս Ամսորեայ)? If so, like the French translation before it says, it is the name of an Armenian periodical. Request reason:
User Miacek is well-known for his vandalisms (crude reverts, e. g. here) ; is he blocked for this ?…
Decline reason:
That is not related to this block, which is for your violation of WP:3RR, which you have indeed violated at Livonian language. Next time, try one of the solutions at WP:DISPUTE rather than edit-warring. FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 22:58, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
If I understand correctly, you want the page to say that the Livonian language is entirely extinct, while he wants to say that it has fewer than 150 speakers. The actual source you're using says that there is one fluent living speaker of Livonian. This source, also cited in the article, says the same thing. Are either of you in favor of saying that in the article? -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 23:03, 25 May 2009 (UTC)
- If I understand correctly, you decline first, and then, you try to understand the problem ; you seem to me a close friend of this user, am I right, indeed ? ; what did this user do ? a fourth revert ?… no : compare this and this. - Bingo. --Budelberger ( ) 11:31, 28 May 2009 (UTC).
- Budelberger, this sysop is not my friend; it's the first time I meet him/her. It's just a routine process of checking the categories that brought the person here. And yes, none of my edits can be called vandalism, as you are still doing here. Childish name calling won't help your cause, quite to the contrary.Miacek (t) 11:58, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
- I declined because you violated 3RR, so I'm not unblocking. Then I tried to understand the problem because I'm a nice person, but since you are attacking me, I won't try to help any more. I'll remove your talk page from my watchlist now. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 15:29, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

Your contributed article, Jaarahoroto
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
Hello, I notice that you recently created a new page, Jaarahoroto. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page - Dilla. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will to continue helping improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Dilla - you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.
If you think that the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Swimnteach (talk) 21:18, 30 March 2011 (UTC)

I'm sending you this because you've made quite a few edits to the template namespace in the past couple of months. If I've got this wrong, or if I haven't but you're not interested in my request, don't worry; this is the only notice I'm sending out on the subject :).
So, as you know (or should know - we sent out a centralnotice and several watchlist notices) we're planning to deploy the VisualEditor on Monday, 1 July, as the default editor. For those of us who prefer markup editing, fear not; we'll still be able to use the markup editor, which isn't going anywhere.
What's important here, though, is that the VisualEditor features an interactive template inspector; you click an icon on a template and it shows you the parameters, the contents of those fields, and human-readable parameter names, along with descriptions of what each parameter does. Personally, I find this pretty awesome, and from Monday it's going to be heavily used, since, as said, the VisualEditor will become the default.
The thing that generates the human-readable names and descriptions is a small JSON data structure, loaded through an extension called TemplateData. I'm reaching out to you in the hopes that you'd be willing and able to put some time into adding TemplateData to high-profile templates. It's pretty easy to understand (heck, if I can write it, anyone can) and you can find a guide here, along with a list of prominent templates, although I suspect we can all hazard a guess as to high-profile templates that would benefit from this. Hopefully you're willing to give it a try; the more TemplateData sections get added, the better the interface can be. If you run into any problems, drop a note on the Feedback page.

[edit]Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Tecciztecatl may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
