SWOSUpalooza
Hello Brother Bulldog, I have worked up a major change to the format of SWOSUpalooza in my sandbox. Since you are the main contributor to this page I wanted to get your opinion before implementing it. There may be something I'm not aware of, for example, is the existing format better for mobiles or something. It would be a little harder to maintain, especially if you don't work with tables much, but it's not that bad. Thanks. Mandruss (talk) 14:42, 15 July 2014 (UTC)
- Looks pretty good to me. I'd been meaning to convert to tables eventually anyway, but hasn't gotten around to it. You have my endorsement if you'd like to implement it, and I'd be more than happy to help maintain it under your format. Thanks for contributing! - Brother Bulldog (talk) 20:21, 15 July 2014 (UTC)
- Cool. On a different topic, if you look at the References section in the sandbox version it's apparent that the SWOSU articles have consistently capitalized the P in SWOSUPalooza since 2009, but it's lower case in the WP article's title and text. Is a change to both title and text called for? Mandruss (talk) 20:37, 15 July 2014 (UTC)
- I would agree that the capitalization change is warranted. I'm not sure when or why that change was made to the official capitalization, but we need to update the article accordingly. - Brother Bulldog (talk) 23:16, 15 July 2014 (UTC)
- Is it safe to assume that that SWOSU site has it right? I emailed them about it and haven't received a reply yet. I only brought it up because I thought you might know something about it, or might know who to ask about it (i.e., are you connected with the school in any way?). Since the capital P both (1) departs from Lollapalooza, and (2) probably leaves some people wondering what the hell a SWOSUP is, I'd want to be as certain as possible before changing to it. - I found an email address for the SGA and emailed them too. They will obviously be the authority on the question, if they will reply to me. Mandruss (talk) 00:25, 16 July 2014 (UTC)
- SWOSU News replied that it was originally p and was changed to P. I put the new article in place and moved it. If SGA replies with more detail about the name change, I'll add that. Mandruss (talk) 14:40, 16 July 2014 (UTC)
- Trying to resolve a discrepancy as to the openers for Palooza 3. There are two conflicting sources. Two weeks before the event, The Southwestern listed 8 openers including PMA. The next day, The Thomas (Oklahoma) Tribune agreed on seven of them but replaced PMA with Escape the Goat. The article as it existed before I came along matched the Tribune version. I would prefer to use The Southwestern for consistency with the other early-years sources, but I can't if it's incorrect. Can you provide any insight? Mandruss (talk) 17:46, 16 July 2014 (UTC)
- I can resolve that one. PMA is Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, a fraternity. Members of the fraternity had formed a band to perform at SWOSUpalooza, but had not chosen a name until after some sources were published. Later, they selected "Escape The Goat" as the name for their one-off band. They had also signed up to perform two years later as "Escape The Goat II", but the group never came together and was dropped before publicity materials were made. - Brother Bulldog (talk) 20:30, 17 July 2014 (UTC)
- Ok then, the Tribune wins, and that's what the article currently shows. Thanks. Mandruss (talk) 20:41, 17 July 2014 (UTC)
