REwrite
Dear Bovineboy2008, How are you? You are an expert about movie related article for wiki's. Can you please rewrite Nabab LLB#Controversy part. It is written like a press statement. I rewrite several times, but someone is reverting again again. Please help to improve the chapter. Thanks and regards FaysaLBinDaruL (talk) 17:08, 5 January 2021 (UTC)
The Unanswered Ives
I looked through the many edits completed on The Unanswered Ives page.
A great deal was taken out in reference to the 'reception' section. This previously had a table that is common for CD's and films when trying to convey the point of 'notability' of the item/this documentary. In fact, this was one of the main reasons the page got accepted and took some edits and adds to make sure it had solid footing as is. Without that table and those cross references, the quotes actually do not make much sense, if the point is to be made about 'context'...that whole section is meaningless. Then, again, you are placing the whole page into a "why is this there?" limbo.
In Europe, the Golden Prague festival and awards are actually a significant set of accolades given in the art world for Classical music video presentation. Certainly there are others but this one is equal and at the level of the BBC Mag, FonoForum, etc etc awards.
Shelyric (talk) 21:09, 5 January 2021 (UTC)
- The use of ratings tables on film article has long been deprecated, you will not find any well-reviewed film articles that use them. Proper context would be a level of prose explaining what the critical consensus is, not just a list of scores. See MOS:FILM.
- I am not familiar with the Golden Prague festival, but I generally don't consider an award significant unless it already has a Wiki article. If it is, I apologize and it should be restored. BOVINEBOY2008 21:12, 5 January 2021 (UTC)

You're right, now that I've read WP: IMDBREF I've realized that IMDB is not a reliable source. Still I think a more cordial notice would have been nice. I spend a lot of time searching for references before creating an article and it seems unfair that because of a mistake I made out of ignorance my work here is considered vandalism. Bruno Rene Vargas (talk) 22:31, 22 January 2021 (UTC)
- @Bruno Rene Vargas:, your hard work is appreciated. However, I did give you a similar "cordial" notice last Sunday on your talk page at User_talk:Bruno_Rene_Vargas#Using_IMDb_as_a_source. I'm not sure if you ignored it or just didn't see it, but you should read messages on your talk page every time! Not just when you are getting notices like what I left today. Desert Dolphin/Skater Girl
Hi, would you kindly see these changes [1] [2]. While I'm inclined towards these being good-faith edits, the editing is not up to par. And I believe the change of title needs to be expanded in the articles with sources. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 11:18, 2 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Fylindfotberserk:. Seems suspicious to me. It looks like the official website has changed to feature the title Skater Girl, but I'm only finding two sources indicating a name change ([3] [4]), although they may be pulling that from IMDb, and all of the social media linked in the official website still use Desert Dolphin. I would maintain the other title as that seems to be the common name for the property, until we see some more sources. BOVINEBOY2008 00:24, 3 February 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks, I've restored the common name, with the new name in parenthesis. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 07:29, 3 February 2021 (UTC)

Hi bro, Can you post this image in wiki commons?, I want to put it in this draft. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 37.236.41.57 (talk) 08:54, 16 February 2021 (UTC)
- No, I can't do that, for two reasons. Non-free images, like movie posters, cannot be hosted in Commons, only in local Wikipedia. And draft articles are not supposed to have non-free images, you will need to wait until the article is published to the main space. BOVINEBOY2008 10:04, 16 February 2021 (UTC)

Blonde 2021
I added the link back to the 2001 film. They are two films based on the same novel and have the same name. Did I make a mistake? Am I missing something? Thank you. Samurai Kung fu Cowboy (talk) 15:30, 27 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Samurai Kung fu Cowboy: I don't think a hatnote would be needed, as the article titles are different. I don't think anyone would open an article titled "Blonde (2021 film)" and expect to read about the 2001 film. That's just my view, per WP:NAMB. I might be more inclined to add such a link to a See Also section, or just leave it off since it is linked in the navigation boxes at the bottom of the article. BOVINEBOY2008 15:33, 27 February 2021 (UTC)
- Perhaps I underestimate the average reader more. I think people just usually read the first name. But your point is valid. See Also is definitely relevant. I can do that. I think if someone else adds it we should leave it or discuss it on the talk page. Samurai Kung fu Cowboy (talk) 15:43, 27 February 2021 (UTC)
- Sounds good! I am also fine if there is consensus to add the hat. I'm not willing to die on a hill for this one 💀 BOVINEBOY2008 15:45, 27 February 2021 (UTC)

Limit of reviews to list movies with 100% Rotten Tomatoes rating
You said "entires must have at least 20 reviews or a critics consensus", yet there are other films that have less than 20 reviews (10 being the minimum). Would you care to explain? Petrandreev13 (talk) 10:40, 9 March 2021 (UTC)
- Those films have a "critics consensus" at Rotten Tomatoes, a statement summarizing the reviews. Consensus found on the talk page insists that entries on the list need to either meet the 20 review threshold or have one of these consensus statements. Each entry on the list currently that has fewer than 20 reviews has a statement like this. BOVINEBOY2008 10:44, 9 March 2021 (UTC)
Edits suspected of coming from parties related to/the persons of a biography articles
Hi, so I'm referring to these two pages: Livi Zheng and Ken Zheng. As you can see, these two are brother-sister filmmaking/actor duo of Indonesian descent. They have been subjected to massive controversies in Indonesia (where I live) and their Wikipedia entries (prior to my edit a few weeks back) were full of unconfirmed, unverifiable information (which first alerted me that they might be editing their own pages OR that their agencies/someone close to them are editing). So I gathered as many verifiable sources I could and edited their pages -- which, whether they like it or not, had to include mentions of the controversies they have been the faces of. Today I found out that all of my edits have been removed and reverted back to its previous version by unknown user (only IP address), which I then checked and found that the IP addresses have only edited two articles: yes, you guessed right, Ken and Livi Zheng. My version of their articles were of course not the most flattering given their controversies, but they were 100% unbiased and fact-based. Can you help with this? I'm not sure where/who to flag on this. CalliPatra (talk) 04:34, 14 March 2021 (UTC)
recent edits
I'm new to Wikipedia so I apologize for any breach in educate. You recently reverted one of my revisions. I restored it but needed to justify my revision. I added the co-director's name to the infobox on this page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vivo_(film). This information is in the first paragraph of the main body of the page and here is another link for reference: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6338498/ I hope this clarifies it. Shmendrick1 (talk) 21:09, 23 March 2021 (UTC)
- @Shmendrick1: First, we cannot use IMDb as a source per WP:IMDBREF. Second, the director parameter should only be used for the primary director. Pixar has a history of crediting co-directors that act more as assistant directors. BOVINEBOY2008 09:23, 24 March 2021 (UTC)

- Sorry, I'm just seeing this now. I shouldn't move it while there is an active AfD going on, but I'm sure that it will be moved once that comes to a conclusion. BOVINEBOY2008 10:38, 28 March 2021 (UTC)
March 2021
I have doubts regarding your recent edits to the page Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train on which you have removed the USA release date from the infobox as per WP:FILMRELEASE. However, from my point of view, I added the release date because there was no international/worldwide release for the film. Further, October 16, 2020 is the release date for Japan (it is not a worldwide release date as mentioned earlier). Even, if the WP:FILMRELEASE mentioned that all release dates cannot be added to the infobox. Still you shouldn't have remove the word "Japan". In my edit, I added a release date from its original release and a release date for the western theatres. Whatever might be the case, I didn't revert your edits to avoid conflicits with you because I would like to know if you have considered October 16, 2020 as international release date or have remove the dates for USA release as per WP:FILMRELEASE. With patience and hopefulness in mind, I expect consensus in a single session. Thank you. いちか かすが (talk) 14:57, 28 March 2021 (UTC)
- Per FILMRELEASE: "Release dates should therefore be restricted to the film's earliest release, whether it was at a film festival, a world premiere, or a public release, and the release date(s) in the country or countries that produced the film, excluding sneak previews or screenings." The film's earliest release was in Japan, thus it is listed. And the film is not considered a US film, so it would be giving undue weight to include it to the infobox. Nothing in the instructions of the infobox mention including an international/worldwide release date. I have no issue with including (Japan) after the date although I view it redundant as the relevant country is already listed in the infobox. Repctfully, BOVINEBOY2008 16:09, 28 March 2021 (UTC)
"Crazy for You"
If you think I left the note on the page in a bad spot, Would you mind terribly sticking somewhere better? It seems a poor idea to leave to chance possibility of the synopsis of the play giving people a false impression of the factual accuracy of a semi-biographical work.
Besides, wouldn't people know not to list awards and recognitions credited to the regional production of a show of this nature, anyway? Tyrekecorrea (talk) 20:31, 4 April 2021 (UTC)
- I think the note about Eugene being a fictionalized version of a real person is placed appropriately. Nothing in the article claims that the character is truly biographical. I think if you wanted, you could put a footnote and tag it after the first mention of Eugene. But the knowledge of that character does not make a major impact in a reader's understanding of the topic in the article, so it does not need its own sentence in the lead paragraph.
- I'm not quite sure what regional awards you are referencing, can you provide a url for the edit? Thanks! BOVINEBOY2008 19:19, 5 April 2021 (UTC)

Trouble some IP
Hi, do you know any banned user who did this kind of edits? I've come across this Kerala IP before in many film articles. I've reverted them on many occasions. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 06:09, 12 April 2021 (UTC)
- No I don't, but they've been doing it for a long time. I was tracking their edits from different IPs for a while over the summer[5], but it changes so frequently I'm not sure what could be done. They have never responded to any of my comments to them. BOVINEBOY2008 23:01, 12 April 2021 (UTC)
Removing factual edits
Noted that you took it upon yourself to remove the couple of basic well know facts I recently added to the Million Dollar Quartet (production) wiki. Why? And may I kindly ask who you are? Cole212 (talk) 07:42, 15 April 2021 (UTC)
- I think saying these facts are well known is presumptuous. All content on Wikipedia should be verified preferably through reliable sources. I'm not sure what you want to know about me, but I've been editing here on Wikipedia for over a decade. Let me know if there is something specific you wanted to know, or if you need more explanation as to how to cite sources! BOVINEBOY2008 09:19, 15 April 2021 (UTC)

The Father released in France
Hi !
I saw that you restored the old French release date for The Father. You restored the 7 April 2021 release date. Actually, the country was in lockdown in April 2021 and movie theaters are closed since November 2020 in France. It's for that reason that i removed the April 2021 date.
The new French date (26 May 2021) was announced yesterday following the government announcement that movie theaters will open again on 19 May 2021 in France. Thank you. TommyR25 (talk) 21:11, 4 May 2021 (UTC)

Consensus
Hey there! Saw you editing Living in the Age of Airplanes, where you removed the rating template because it's against a consensus. I looked at MOS and tried looked at the archives of the Film WikiProject, but can't seem to find one. The only discussions I find were parental ratings (MPAA, BBFC) which is separate from review ratings. Do you have the consensus discussion, because as far as I'm concerned, rating templates are allowed. GeraldWL 01:36, 31 May 2021 (UTC)
- Let me look. There used to be a template that we used for review tables, but it was eventually deleted - consensus being that a review score can not properly convey the nuances of an actual review, prose being preferred. BOVINEBOY2008 01:40, 31 May 2021 (UTC)
- Appreciate that! To be honest, I'm stunned that there could be a discussion-- I mean, video game articles have rating tables on their receptions. GeraldWL 01:47, 31 May 2021 (UTC)
- To be frank, I think it could be revisited. It was probably from about 8 years ago and I know that the editing philosophies of regular editors has shifted greatly. BOVINEBOY2008 01:49, 31 May 2021 (UTC)
- I don't think there is a problem, considering the template has been to the knowledge of editors as late as last year (can see that from the history). A discussion would be fine, but I think for now the template should be kept. What do you think? GeraldWL 02:04, 31 May 2021 (UTC)
- I'm not opposed to it. BOVINEBOY2008 02:06, 31 May 2021 (UTC)

No plot tag
Hello, Bovineboy2008. Re this edit, I think keeping the tag within a blank section is helpful because it directs IPs and new users where to add the plot. Here you can see IP has added a plot at the top of the article because there is no plot section and they may not know how to create one. Having a section is particularly useful for mobile users which allows only to edit a section rather than the article as a whole. Thanks -- Ab207 (talk) 05:47, 3 June 2021 (UTC)
Billing
I have to take some umbridge with this. When there’s no billing structure I find it necessary to keep the names within how they were announced otherwise there’ll be chronic name moving for no reason other than user preference. I see it so often now on The Gray Man in regards to Dhanush specifically. I don’t take umbridge with your edit particularly, the film is about Elvis and Austin Butler is playing Elvis so makes sense he go first, but overall the sentiment is something I disagree about. note from Harboursound2021
Dear @Bovineboy2008:, thank you for the information and the welcome message that you posted. I have no experience with Wikipedia so I'm not sure if I'm responding to you in the correct way or if you'll see this message.
You are correct that I am associated with the film The Wind and the Reckoning. There are details that I can provide about the film to ensure that the wikipedia page is accurate, and I do appreciate that I should not be the editor if that appears to be a conflict of interest. I just wanted to provide the accurate info about the project.
How is it that I can ensure that the accurate information about this film is being reported on Wikipedia? For example, the film is indeed written by John Fusco but is based on the actual journal writings of Pi'ilani, the wife of Ko'olau, who chronicled their experience and published her writings in the native Hawaiian language in 1908. Her writings were only translated into English in 2001 by the Kauai Historical Society. So it is not correct that the film or the screenplay is based on a Jack London novel.
All of the other information I tried to update can be found on IMDB's website. If there is a way to get the information corrected about the source material it would be appreciated. Thanks again for educating me on the process with your welcome note. Harboursound2021 Harboursound2021 (talk) 03:01, 5 June 2021 (UTC)

Showing Up discussion
Hi. I made the decision to revert your revision after some thoughtful consideration, however I have also opened up a talk page on Showing Up to discuss this matter further in order to get additional thought processes and avoid the potential for edit warring which we don't want or need. TheMovieGuy
- Thanks! I will look at that discussion soon! BOVINEBOY2008 09:38, 16 June 2021 (UTC)
Clarification
Hi Bovineboy2008, Thank you for the corrections you made to Ayinla (film)! I noticed that you changed the dates of release to read the date of premiere which I always thought to be two different things or am I mistaken? Princess of Ara(talk) 15:25, 18 June 2021 (UTC)
- Hi! Really, both should be there. I can make that edit in a moment. Per WP:FILMRELEASE, we should include the first public release and then the first major release in the country of production if different. BOVINEBOY2008 15:26, 18 June 2021 (UTC)
- Great! Thanks for the clarification and update. Princess of Ara(talk) 15:33, 18 June 2021 (UTC)
Release year for Eikhoishibu Kanano
Hi, 2019 is the correct year for the release of the movie "Eikhoishibu Kanano". I have personally talked to the director of the film Ajit Yumnam as well. He said that the film was certified by CBFC India in 2019. So the release year should be taken as 2019. Usually, very few articles are written in general on Manipuri films in online mode. So, I couldn't cite any sources that mentions the release year of the movie. Therefore, please do not revert my edits. If you want more verification, you can try contacting Skyline Pictures page or Ajit Yumnam profile on Facebook and ask them. Takhellei (talk) 14:34, 24 June 2021 (UTC)
- @Takhellei:. The certification year is not what we base the release year on. We use the first public showing of the film (theatres, festivals, streaming, etc...) Unless you can provide sourcing that the film was shown in 2019, then it needs to stay 2020. BOVINEBOY2008 14:59, 24 June 2021 (UTC)

Sing 2
Hi, To directly quote WP:FILMPLOT, " Do not include actors' names in the plot summary, as it is considered redundant to the "Cast" section." When you reverted the article "Sing 2", you caused the actor's names to return to the cast section after they were deleted, along with the other reversions. I am correcting that much but I am not reverting your entire edit since the rest of it was correct. Thanks! EEBuchanan (talk) 07:26, 27 June 2021 (UTC)
Release year for "Manipuri Pony" film
Hello, if you haven't done proper review of the "Manipuri Pony" film page, please don't edit it unknowingly. The film won an award in the 60th National Film Awards. And 60th National Film Awards were given for films released in 2012. The film was released in 2012 and participated in film festivals of 2013. If you want more evidence, then I've made links from the page to the 60th National Film Awards page. It is mentioned clearly in the beginning portion of the article of the 60th National Film Awards article. I am really disgusted by your stupid, poorly researched and half baked reviews. Little knowledge is really really dangerous. If you think I am a stupid contributor, go on and take all steps to terminate my user account. I just made this account for the love of Manipuri Cinema and to contribute whatever I can. And trust me, I do proper research before I make any page related with Manipuri movies. Takhellei (talk) 14:37, 28 June 2021 (UTC)
- Hi @Takhellei:! You need to provide evidence that the film was shown in 2012. You have only provided evidence that it won an award in 2012. Please provide an indication that it showed in a theatre, released online, or shown in a festival in 2012. And continue to assume good faith. We all want to build a better encyclopedia. BOVINEBOY2008 17:06, 29 June 2021 (UTC)
Okay. I apologise for whatever I have said before. I will try to follow proper Wikipedia guidelines. Takhellei (talk) 17:08, 29 June 2021 (UTC)

Thanks for adding that tag on the Spirit Untamed page. Of course, the person who added the long plot is a user with an IP Address, which always seems to be the ones that add stuff like that. Hopefully someone can trim it down. --Historyday01 (talk) 12:52, 30 June 2021 (UTC)

Movie Posters of Old Indian Language Films marked for Possible Deletion
Hi Bovineboy2008:
Thank you for your recent message about the following files I had recently uploaded on Wikipedia Commons that have been marked for possible deletion: AnkhMicholi.jpg, NightClub.jpg, Sagai.jpg, Parbatmovie.jpg, Laadla.jpg.
All of these files are theatrical movie posters of Indian-language films that were released more than about 60 years ago. I obtained all of these posters from the internet and my understanding was that these old posters are now in the public domain, and therefore out of copyright.
I note that the Copyright law of India (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copyright_law_of_India) indicates that all cinematograph films fall in the public domain sixty years from the beginning of the calendar year next following the year in which the work is first published.
The release dates for the films for which I uploaded to Wikipedia Commons are as follows: AnkhMicholi.jpg (1962), NightClub.jpg (1958), Sagai.jpg (1951) Parbatmovie.jpg (1952), Laadla.jpg (1954). Hope that helps in understanding why these posters (except maybe the one for Ankh Micholi) should not be deleted. Thanks again. Scholar165 (talk) 13:00, 30 June 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you for the explanation! I am less aware of copyright laws of other countries and I appreciate the information. BOVINEBOY2008 13:01, 30 June 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you. Can I assume that I do not need to worry about the deletion of the files mentioned above? Thanks.Scholar165 (talk) 19:22, 30 June 2021 (UTC)
- You should be able to remove the tags. BOVINEBOY2008 19:34, 30 June 2021 (UTC)
- I do not have a clue as to how to remove tags. Also, I just noticed that some of the images above ((for Ladla (154 film) and Pooja (1954 film)) have already been removed. My sincere apologies for asking for your assistance; I am new to Wikipedia. Thanks.Scholar165 (talk) 19:53, 30 June 2021 (UTC)
- On the file page, there is a button on top of the page that says "View on Commons". That is where the tag is located. BOVINEBOY2008 20:16, 30 June 2021 (UTC)
- If by the file page, you mean the article page, I do not have a button that says “View on Commons”. All I have are buttons for:Talk, Read, Edit Source, View History, More. Perhaps I am not looking at the right place.
- On the file page, there is a button on top of the page that says "View on Commons". That is where the tag is located. BOVINEBOY2008 20:16, 30 June 2021 (UTC)
- Also, is there a way to recover the files Pooja.jpg and Laadla.jpg which have been deleted from the articles I wrote about these films? Thanks.
- That's the article page. I mean the file page like File:AnkhMicholi.jpg. You will probably need to find who deleted the file and request they restore it. BOVINEBOY2008 12:24, 1 July 2021 (UTC)
- Many thanks. This is helpful. However as the tag says "Do not remove this tag until the deletion nomination is closed," I am not sure whether I should be removing the tag. Is it possible (if I am not being pushy) for you to remove it? With re: the two posters that have already been removed, I wonder how I can find out who removed them? Thanks. Scholar165 (talk) 16:46, 1 July 2021 (UTC)

41 (2007 film)
The article 41 (2007 film) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Fails WP:GNG and WP:NFILM. No significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Springnuts (talk) 07:22, 20 July 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks for removing the ProD and improving the article. I will have a prune of some non-referenced material - please restore if sources are available. Springnuts (talk) 21:58, 21 July 2021 (UTC)
- No worries! I'm not sure why I got the notification in the first place since I didn't create the article, I think it's probably because I had moved it to its current page. It was a fun little research project :D BOVINEBOY2008 22:13, 22 July 2021 (UTC)

Notability Requirements
Regarding this edit [[8]], please read WP:NEXIST. To quote, "The absence of sources or citations in an article (as distinct from the non-existence of sources) does not indicate that a subject is not notable. Notability requires only the existence of suitable independent, reliable sources, not their immediate presence or citation in an article."
I pointed out that there is another review which makes the film pass WP:NFILM, thereby proving it's notability. I do not need to add the review to the article to prove it's notability. Therefore, the notability tag does not belong. If you desire, add it yourself (and when you do, please add full citations, not bare references that are subject to link rot as I have seen you do on many articles, but the source DOES NOT need to be in the article and the notability tag is incorrect in this case. Thanks. DonaldD23 talk to me 12:23, 25 July 2021 (UTC)
- It is a sign of lazy editing that you would rather just remove a tag than actually add a citation when you went through the effort of finding the source. I know you are a better editor than that.
- And as I've pointed out before, just because a film has two reviews does not mean it meets notability guidelines. I am not willing to argue this with you because you seem like you are not open to listening to other opinions about it. BOVINEBOY2008 12:29, 25 July 2021 (UTC)
- And thank you for the reminder of linkrot. I am actively working on this. I used to have a tool that would automatically generate a citation for me but it no longer works :/ BOVINEBOY2008 12:30, 25 July 2021 (UTC)
- As you have probably seen in the past, I do add the citations when I find them. I'm just on vacation right now and am killing some time waiting for others to wake up. I'm sorry you saw this as lazy editing. Thanks for adding the citation and for working on the linkrot. Have a great day. DonaldD23 talk to me 13:17, 25 July 2021 (UTC)
Regarding RRR (film) page
You gave no explanation in moving back the page after my edit. There was no point raised by you even which is not good. The film is made in Telugu Language and there is no need of any consensus in this aspect to not move the page. You could check the details of the film if you have any doubts regarding it. Please check the following link
- Please see your talk page. This move has been discussed multiple times, you are acting against consensus. Please consider starting a discussion per WP:BRD. BOVINEBOY2008 21:29, 26 July 2021 (UTC)
Idlebrain source
Hello, Bovineboy2008. Re this edit, one of the Idlebrain's references is a WP:PRIMARY source. Interview sources such as these may be used to support the content. Also, Idlebrain is one the largest repositories of content related to Telugu cinema. It is a good source for fairly uncontroversial information such as release dates, cast and credits, awards and nominations etc imo. Regards -- Ab207 (talk) 15:10, 29 July 2021 (UTC)

Please watch out for your action/edit reversal
Hi, I've seen that you've redirected articles which have little to no substantial references to their parent articles. Please note that the references aren't on the pages visibly as you would want to see due to the unnecessary blockade and banning of genuine accounts on un-evidenced grounds of vandalism and page manipulation. I was a victim of this, which is why I'm noting this to you. These articles are for knowledge and not just references. But I'll kindly reverse them in due time when the references come out. So please watch out. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 45.222.192.66 (talk) 12:41, 29 July 2021 (UTC)

Line breaks before stub tags
I'm not a fan of more than one empty line before stub templates, or anywhere, because they result in <p>...</p>
with just <br>
in it, which I find gratuitous and non-semantic (if the point is to create space above the template it should be done in CSS IMO). Can you point to a guideline or discussion where that practice is recommended? Nardog (talk) 01:18, 4 August 2021 (UTC)

- Upload page with preloaded non-free use rationale - just need to select the correct license.
- Poster databases at IMP Awards (preferred), Cinematerial, MoviePosterDB (these two you will need to look through the source code to get the versions without watermarks

- I am not familiar with that extension, I don't think it is supported by Wikipedia. You will need to find a file with a different extension (.jpg and .png are probably most common). BOVINEBOY2008 15:54, 8 August 2021 (UTC)
- And where specifically would I find it? I found this .xlg on IMP Awards.--Filmomusico (talk) 17:02, 8 August 2021 (UTC)
- What I do is save the image file from the website to my computer, it downloads as a jpg. You may have to double check that you are saving the image, not the full webpage. I think xlg is used in the file names to indicate extra-large. There should be a .jpg after that. BOVINEBOY2008 17:04, 8 August 2021 (UTC)
- Ironically, non of the films on IMP Awards have .jpg at the end. For example Cry Macho have a .html. Wikipedia doesn't take .html either and when I copy the image to my desktop, it wouldn't paste.--Filmomusico (talk) 21:00, 8 August 2021 (UTC)
- Hmmm... What I do is right click on the image, select Save image as... It will let me save it to my computer as a JPEG. BOVINEBOY2008 21:02, 8 August 2021 (UTC)

Pick a descriptive name for the file, just make sure it has the same extension as your file name. I usually use whatever the file is already called (usually the film name) sometimes with "poster" added on before the extension. In the non-free rationale, you will need to add the Article it will be used in and the Source, which I usually include the url of the page where the image was found. In licensing, pick "Any kind of poster". BOVINEBOY2008 21:19, 8 August 2021 (UTC)

This is the kind of thing that makes people hate Wikipedia; "consensus" causing useful information to be suppressed for no good reason at all. Thanks for pointing it out, though, so I won't try to add this useful, sourced and valid information to Wikipedia articles in the future.128.151.71.11 (talk) 14:33, 9 August 2021 (UTC)
- What makes Wikipedia great is that it is based on community discussion and consensus based on these 5 basic pillars. If you think something would improve the content of the article, please bring it up on the talk page of the article! Or you can foster more communication by visiting the multitude WikiProjects, including Wikipedia:WikiProject Film, which is where the discussion occurred to exclude the material you are considering adding. BOVINEBOY2008 14:37, 9 August 2021 (UTC)
- Responding to the anonym: The thing is, is that audience consensus never mattered to Wikipedia, because a) It have limited verifiability (in this case, only Rotten Tomatoes) and b) Wikipedia is an encyclopedia (in this case, films must be reviewed by critics and only critics). I'm sorry if this fact prevents you from adding sourced and valuable content to this site, but audience consensus must remain away from here. And the reason why audience consensus isn't verifiable is because random people say random stuff. John Doe might say that he "liked" this film while Amy Bonkers might say that she "hate it", and then some kind Sam the Unicorn would talk completely of another film and it ends up a mess. I hope you will get the point of why we "surpassing" audience consensus. :)--Filmomusico (talk) 18:46, 9 August 2021 (UTC)

How to handle a dispute- advice needed
Hi, I’m a new user who’s witnessed a dispute and abuse by one long time user against another new user who’s been bullied off the site. The abusive comments directed towards this new user have been erased from the abuser’s talk page but I’ve seen them and they were pretty worrying. Is there any point to reporting when this is obviously a personal grudge by the older user against the new one? I’d love some advice on this. I set up a section defending the person who was bullied on the victim’s talk page and got targeted myself. They could erase this as well but I’ve seen and experienced it. I’m not interested in naming names at all, but the fact that the abuser erased evidence of the bullying is a concern. The older user made an accusation of sock puppetry against the new user and when she attempted to defend herself, she faced considerable abuse and bullying by the older user who refused to back down. I don’t want to get involved but I figured I’d bring it to the attention of another experienced user. Is this kind of thing normal on this site? Thanks very much in advance. Applehornet (talk) 04:37, 10 August 2021 (UTC). Quick revision here : the abuser has moved their page and changed their username to avoid any responsibility for the bullying and harassment that drove the new user off Wikipedia. I just think it has to be mentioned to people who know their way around the system. I don’t know it well enough to deal with it myself. This is a totally new issue for me. Applehornet (talk) 07:03, 10 August 2021 (UTC).
- Just so you know, I changed my username to a game character I like, has nothing to do with you. Your accusation is completely baseless and the more you repeat such claims, the less people are going to pay attention to you. Do you even know what those accusations mean? user:Bovineboy2008 for your attention.Kazuha1029 (talk) 16:39, 11 August 2021 (UTC)
- I would recommend reaching out to an administrator, you can leave a note at WP:ANI for help! [[ping:Bovineboy2008]2008 11:01, 10 August 2021 (UTC)
Thanks Applehornet (talk) 10:24, 11 August 2021 (UTC).
- Hello, I'm sorry that this user is involving you in this discussion. All of the above that she's accusing me of is false and the user here is a confirmed sockpuppet created solely to harass me (Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Umbrellazebra). I know you don't have time to read her edit histories but her statement above "refused to back down" is really on herself. Upon my disengagement from the conversation she proceeded to go on teahouse to make her false claims and coming here pretending that she was a completely different account. I have tried to ignore it as she seems to be a new user. But I see that we definitely need admin attention to stop her disruptive behaviour. Thank you for your understanding.Kazuha1029 (talk) 15:33, 11 August 2021 (UTC)
Question about grammar
Hi. Since we sort of became friends here, I am seeking your advice on grammar. What is the best way of writing:
1. "Basing of X critics on Metacritic, the film have a score of X out of a X, indicating "X"".
2. "Basing on X critics on Metacritic, the film have a score of X out of a X, indicating "X"".
3. "On Metacritic, the film has a weighted average score of X out of X based on X reviews, indicating "X"".
Or they all are grammatically correct?--Filmomusico (talk) 05:18, 11 August 2021 (UTC)
- I would personally lean to the last version. The expression "Basing on" or "Basing of" is very uncommon, "Based on" is much more common use. Also, as "film" is a singular subject, the predicate should agree, "the film has..." BOVINEBOY2008 09:22, 11 August 2021 (UTC)
- The main thing that confused me is this:
"On review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, X has an approval rating of X% based on X reviews, with an average rating of X/X. On Metacritic, the film has a weighted average score of X out of X based on X reviews, indicating "X".
- Pretty much, is it ok to use the word "average" twice in the same paragraph?--Filmomusico (talk) 15:51, 11 August 2021 (UTC)
- The other concern that I have is this: "On Metacritic, the film has a weighted average score of X out of X based on X critics, indicating "mixed or average reviews".
- Which in turn, makes the word "average" appear 3 times per paragraph. What I am wondering: Is it redundant, and if so, what word should I use to replace this redundancy? Thank you.--Filmomusico (talk) 16:10, 11 August 2021 (UTC)
Television film vs. Film infoboxes
Hi. Could you please explain to me the difference between those two? The problem that I am having is that one film that I am writing about, it was premiered at FrightFest, but according to IMDb it is also a TV movie. The Television infobox doesn't have a parameter for release date, but have it for air date, which is, of course, not the same. Should I use Infobox film then?--Filmomusico (talk) 04:23, 18 August 2021 (UTC)
- Generally, if the film premiered in a festival, I use the film infobox. I would recommend using the television infobox for those films that were produced and intended for television. BOVINEBOY2008 09:40, 18 August 2021 (UTC)
Anything else? This draft is ready!
Hi,Bovineboy2008, Is there anything these draft links are missing?! I see you've put the wikiproject film template on the former! If not, could any of your colleagues or you have them converted to full-fledged mainspace articles?!? And also could there be official image posters on them before they go offline later?
Thanks!! I'll be waiting! FaysaLBinDaruL
WP:PLAGARISM concerns on WarioWare: Get It Together!
My understanding is that, by not writing an in-text citation, we'll be falling short of the WP:PLAGARISM guidelines, as it could be misconstrued to be taking credit for others' work, and user-generated content under a free license is no exception.
Originally I was going to rewrite the entire section, but after reading that guideline I decided on the reference instead. I still think it's a bad idea to leave the text as-is, so I can go back to my original plan and just write our own text for it. Or just wait until release.
Regards, User:TheDragonFire300. (Contact me | Contributions). 12:59, 22 August 2021 (UTC)
- Looking at the Mariowiki entry, the story seems to be written by an editor there based on watching a portion of the demo. I don't think we should be referencing or copying such text. I think it would be best to remove it entirely, and rewrite locally. BOVINEBOY2008 13:33, 22 August 2021 (UTC)
- Perhaps I'll wait until it releases officially; it might be too soon otherwise. Thanks for replying! Regards, User:TheDragonFire300. (Contact me | Contributions). 00:59, 23 August 2021 (UTC)
Excessive warnings
Please ease up on your templated user warnings. I have recently observed a large number of incidents where you have given an editor a level-4 "final" vandalism warning as a first notice. Furthermore, you are using these extreme warning templates for edits which are barely borderline vandalism or clearly not vandalism at all, you are often templating experienced users when you would do better to discuss (warnings are not a substitute for discussion and editorial process), and you are frequently failing badly to assume good faith. If you need help with the proper use of these templates please ask. The multi-level warning templates have four levels for good reasons: there is no reason at all to use the level-4 warning for a new editor who has never been warned before, and only for very extreme incidents should you consider using a 4im-level "only" warning template. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 08:54, 28 August 2021 (UTC)
- Hi @Ivanvector:! I would love to discuss this more with you. Could you first indicate where you have seen me using level-4 warnings as first warnings? I can't recall doing this at any time recently and I'm wondering if I can correct this. Also, I really try not to use these templates with experienced editors. If an editor has been editing for more than a few months, I do try to start conversations unless the edit in question is something extreme that a template will communicate better (3RR, copy-paste moves, etc...). I do really try to assume good faith and I am sorry you a seeing that I am "failing badly". If you could point to some edits where you see this happening as well, I would appreciate reviewing my actions. Thank you! BOVINEBOY2008 09:53, 28 August 2021 (UTC)
You've done it to me so many times. @BovineBoy2008KigToons (talk) 00:20, 29 August 2021 (UTC)
- KigToons, I've left you a note recently about your poor editing habits, and I am not the only one. BOVINEBOY2008 00:29, 29 August 2021 (UTC)
- @KigToons: I do look forward to your productive editing. Perhaps I have gotten frustrated in the past when I see that you have edited several articles in a row needlessly rearranging information with no explanation. This repeated behavior is something that I thought had been addressed with you, and perhaps I need to review how frequently something has been discussed before issuing more warnings for the same style of edits. Hi Bovineboy2008 and once again thanks for your good guidance on the article Arn – The Kingdom at Road's End. :-) Maybe you have observed the changes I've made on the article and the discussion on the talk page with @Fdewaele:. Camera Obscura
I removed your better sources tag. Amazon is acceptable for past release dates per Wikipedia:External links/Perennial websites. SL93 (talk) 00:49, 29 August 2021 (UTC)
- Interesting. Consensus used to be not to use commercial sites like Amazon for release dates because there is no evidence of editorial oversight or fact checking. I guess consensus has shifted. Thanks for note! BOVINEBOY2008 00:51, 29 August 2021 (UTC)
- I could only find something about Amazon and I'm not sure about other commercial sales sites. I would like to find something better, but I had no luck and the website for the distributor doesn't mention a date. SL93 (talk) 00:54, 29 August 2021 (UTC)
DYK for Day of Reckoning (2016 film)
On 9 September 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Day of Reckoning (2016 film), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that a television in the film Day of Reckoning includes scenes from Big Ass Spider!? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Day of Reckoning (2016 film). You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Day of Reckoning (2016 film)), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Well, well. I was preparing an AFD for the two versions of the movie article, and then you redirected the first one to the draft. So then I tweaked the AFD to refer only to the second copy of the article. Then you redirected the second one to the draft. That is fine, although I spent about an hour checking the references in preparing the AFD. So here is my request at this point. The editor may move or copy the article into article space again, either with another name, or by reverting your redirect. If so, please do not redirect or draftify again. If so, please ping me, and I will drop the AFD in. Robert McClenon (talk) 02:57, 11 September 2021 (UTC)

Corrupção
Corrupção has four sources, but only one inline citation. External links such as IMDb don't count as reliable sources, right? SLBedit (talk) 18:33, 16 September 2021 (UTC)
- An external link is not a reference. If the article is being used as a reference, it should be moved to a reference section, or cited in the article. IMDb cannot be used as a source per WP:IMDBREF. BOVINEBOY2008 21:20, 16 September 2021 (UTC)

Hi. I accidentally created a duplicate of the above article's image. I forgot to change the license. How do I remove a duplicate image?--Filmomusico (talk) 22:16, 12 October 2021 (UTC)
- Did you upload the same file to two different locations? If so, you can use CSD under F1: redundant file. If you uploaded it to the same location, you can delete old non-free images by using {{Orphaned non-free revisions}}. BOVINEBOY2008 08:48, 13 October 2021 (UTC)
- It's interesting. I uploaded the file to the same location, but the first file read as a "poster" not as "CD cover". So, I ended up creating a duplicate. I did nominate all files for deletion upon your suggestion, but got declined. Take a look at File:SillyWizard_Wild.jpg for the issue. Even though it says now that it "will be taken care of by a bot", I an still confused how a bot will change film poster into a CD cover. Bots are only used to reduce size in the case of uploads, if I am not mistaken?--Filmomusico (talk) 16:36, 13 October 2021 (UTC)

- @Poojasrireddy please understand that Wikipedia articles are based on what reliable secondary sources say and that articles are WP:NOTCENSORED. If reliable sources are putting out release dates, they should be included in the article. Also, as you have a relationship with the film, you need to read WP:PAID and make the required disclosures. - @Shinnosuke15: Please go to WP:FILMA for assessment requests. However, I would personally not consider it at a C-class status yet. There needs to be more prose and real world context about the film. Consider adding a Production and reception section. BOVINEBOY2008 14:25, 4 December 2021 (UTC)
