Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions; however, please remember the essential rule of respecting copyrights. Edits to Wikipedia, such as your edit to the page Achaemenid architecture, may not contain material from copyrighted sources unless used with permission. It is almost never okay to copy extensive text out of a book or website and paste it into a Wikipedia article with little or no alteration, though you can clearly and briefly quote copyrighted text in the right circumstances. Content that does not comply with this legal rule must be removed. For more information on this, see:

If you still have questions, there is the Teahouse, or you can click here to ask a question on your talk page and someone will be along to answer it shortly. As you get started, you may find the pages below to be helpful.

I hope you enjoy editing Wikipedia! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Zakariya al-Qazwini. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. HistoryofIran (talk) 19:04, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Why saying "either of Persian ancestry" when the sources are clear about his Arab ancestry? The fact that he was born in Iran does not make him Persian. So what is the reason for this mention? Borneo45 (talk) 19:18, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You seem to be reading different sources; According to Streck 1913–1936, "He belonged to a pure Arab family which had, however, been long settled in the east." Bosworth 1987–2011 calls him a "Persian scholar", while Lewicki 1960–2007 describes him as a "famous Arab cosmographer and geographer" who "drew his origin from an Arab family [...] who had been Persianised after settling at Kaẓwīn in Persia." Both Bosworth 1987–2011 and Lewicki 1960–2007 stress that though he wrote in Arabic, this was not his mother tongue. Black 2014, p. 40 calls him "a Persian of Arab ancestry", Maqbul Ahmad 1981, p. 230 "An Arab by descent". Actually, Persianized Arab seems more correct per the quote imo. Anyways, that is the current WP:CONSENSUS, so please take your concerns to the talk page (also, Iran was not a politically entity at that time). Please stop your disruptive editing.

If you continue to disrupt Wikipedia, as you did at Hyspaosines, you may be blocked from editing. HistoryofIran (talk) 20:08, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you remove or blank page content or templates from Wikipedia without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary, as you did at Tunisian–Algerian War (1705). My goal was not at all to do vandalism, I just corrected statements that weren't correct. What is written in the article is clearly not neutral and influenced by nationalistic views. As mentioned in the sources, the war didn't end with the capture of El Kef but rather the failure of the siege of Tunis. The context of the war should also be expressed. Please check the sources I've added so we can at least talk about this. Borneo45 (talk) 16:41, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
