Orphaned non-free media (File:Exelon.png)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Exelon.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:05, 25 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:Cook county seal.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NW (Talk) 18:43, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:LansingMI.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:LansingMI.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. Re [1]. You are correct. It isn't difficult. But, I've performed approximately a thousand of these edits, and I'd much rather have the people who want these images to be included to learn the lesson that we must comply with WP:NFCC in all respects, including #10c. It's usually quite effective. I've even been thanked for it [2]. --Hammersoft (talk) 21:41, 12 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your vote at RfA/Hawkeye7

[edit]

(Cross posted from Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Hawkeye7):

Although editors are given extremely broad leeway in supporting or opposing candidates and providing rationales, achieving a personal milestone by hitting a round number of opposes cast is not in any fashion a rational or acceptable ground for opposing an RfA candidate. Unless you confirm that you would have cast this vote apart from that consideration, I am going to determine as an administrator that it is intentionally disruptive and strike it out. Newyorkbrad (talk) 02:18, 13 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

And yet i gave a rational for why i said i was against his nomination. Whatever, i know how i voted. --Boothy443 | trácht ar 02:45, 13 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Also i fail to see the need to justify it to you, the only person that i need to justify it to is Hawkeye7 and my self, and hawkeye7, unlike many other noms, took my criticisms of his RFA seriously enough to post though out response. So in all seriousness you should take this up with him. --Boothy443 | trácht ar 02:51, 13 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
If you had any coherent substantive rationale for opposing the candidate, then your vote is legitimately cast, even though I find the rationale as you have articulated it on the RfA close to incoherent. On the other hand, if you decided that it was time to cast "oppose #100" for numerological reasons, and then hoked up an after-the-fact rationale simply to provide a veneer of semi-reasonableness to cloak an absurdity, that is something quite different and I do not believe that sort of !vote should be allowed to stand.
I note that this seems to be your first RfA !vote in awhile. I also note that you have a longstanding history of exceptionally poor behavior at RfA, including periods when you opposed substantially every candidate for no stated, apparent, or coherent reason. I am also aware of the findings made in your 2006 arbitration case. Please do not return to unhelpful patterns of behavior. Newyorkbrad (talk) 02:53, 13 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
coherent substantive rationale i dont believe is your call, it seems it was coherent and substantive enough for the nom that the nom made a response to it, just because you dont seem to like it doesn't make it invalid --Boothy443 | trácht ar 03:08, 13 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Philadelphia slang

[edit]

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Philadelphia slang. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Philadelphia slang. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:06, 30 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Template Irish Places

[edit]

I have the impression that you may have had a hand in writing this template. Did you know that the coords do not appear in the title, so they are not picked up by Google Earth/Maps. This may explain Ireland's poor showing in http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2009/dec/02/wikipedia-known-unknowns-geotagging-knowledge . Is there anything you can do about it? --Red King (talk) 14:01, 23 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I reverted your edit to the template as there were two overlapping coordinates showing at the top right of the article pages. I am actually not sure that your edit caused that or if some other part of the template code is causing it. Revert back to your change but even after reverting you this dual display still happens. Unfortunately viewing older versions does not show where or when the issue started as the coordinates don't display. ww2censor (talk) 16:47, 23 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Actually this is rather strange as I looked at Donnybrook, Dublin where two overlapping coordinates showed but having removed the additional one at the bottom of the page, then no coordinates showed up even though they were still included in the infobox, so I reverted it and now, even though there are two coordinates in the page, only one now shows at the top right of the page. So I think the issue may lie in the way coordinates are placed on articles and not in the template, so I am restoring your edit. There may well still be a problem remaining. ww2censor (talk) 16:57, 23 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for this Boothy. I really don't think that the occasional instance of double overlapping co-ordinates are especially problematic, as these are easily corrected. The absence of any intitle coordinates is much more of a problem. --Red King (talk) 23:56, 26 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Boothy443! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 4 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 7 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

  1. Tiit Vähi - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

File source problem with File:Enoch Pratt.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Enoch Pratt.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 22:41, 3 May 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 22:41, 3 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 21:16, 7 May 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 21:16, 7 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:Wbgntv.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Wbgntv.gif.

You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Hammersoft (talk) 14:37, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

WTF: Flintstone, Maryland

[edit]

Why did you delete my edition to the Flintstone Maryland wiki page? It was a tribute to a local vietnam hero who now has a memorial for him in the center of town. It was all based on fact and not some made up story or edit. The page was looking pretty sad so I thought I would help it out by dedicating a section to a war hero. Please email me at andrewskinton@gmail.com to respond to this.

The article Daystar Technologies has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No third-party sources giving this article notability; article does not meet the WP:GNG.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. A tag has been placed on File:HCALogo.PNG requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Donegalcrest.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Donegalcrest.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 15:27, 15 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on 3V (payment system) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. The file File:Map of Pennsylvania dot on Pittsburgh.PNG has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Orphaned map.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ~ Rob13Talk 01:26, 25 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
