sandboxtwo

I thought I created a user sandbox to work on the expansion of an article, that I created. You have tagged it for speedy deletion. Go ahead. I don't care. Right now there are a lot of things I feel like saying that would get me kicked off Wikipedia. Because, like everything else on Wikipedia, creating a user sandbox has turn out to be a lot more difficult than it should be. --Ishtar456 (talk) 01:50, 18 March 2012 (UTC)

From now on, remember that user sandboxes are supposed to be in userspace (like User:Example/sandbox) and not in article space. Creating a user sandbox is not difficult, I assure you – in fact easier than to threaten to behave in a way that would get you "kicked off Wikipedia". Another user was friendly enough to move the sandbox to your userspace, User:Ishtar456/Sandbox2, and you have lost nothing, so please continue to work on that. Re: your comments at User talk:Ishtar456/Sandbox2, please remember to stay cool when the editing gets hot. Of course, like I said, what I did was not a comment on you personally. I hope you will continue to improve Wikipedia. Bmusician 03:43, 18 March 2012 (UTC)

...And I did not mean to "threaten" anything, I was just expressing my frustration. Take care.--Ishtar456 (talk) 11:14, 18 March 2012 (UTC)

Addington Square AFC

Hi, you understandably declined the Addington Square AFC as blank and referred the contributor to Requested Articles, but the article appears blank because the text is hidden. The author seems to have accidentally deleted the ">" that should go at the end of the line "Important, do not remove this line before article has been created. ---". Pine(talk) 09:51, 21 March 2012 (UTC)

Hi Pine. I was on my iPhone at the time I reviewed that submission, so I did not view the source of the submission and declined as blank. Thank you for reminding me about that. Bmusician 11:17, 21 March 2012 (UTC)

Thanks!

I was really surprised and happy to see that. I wasnt expecting it. Its really nice when ur work gets appreciated. And getting barnstar from u is also a previlage for me. Since, 1 month, i've been stalking ur talkpage and ur contributions and I was secretly learning how to become good editor like u. It helped me with CSDs and now I never make errors in tagging pages. Again thank you much.. It means a lot to me! Yasht101 01:29, 23 March 2012 (UTC)

You're right, I closed it too early. This was the first RfA closure I ever made, and I felt it was right to close it at the time per WP:NOTNOW because the editor's history was poor, their edit count was low, and that closure was recommended in a comment by an involved editor. I could reverse the closure, but I feel it is a little bit too late to reverse it. I apologize. Bmusician 09:42, 27 March 2012 (UTC)

AGREED!--Ron John (talk) 09:24, 27 March 2012 (UTC)

How about this: it's not too late: please reverse it, because I shouldn't have to. early closes should also involve looking at the desire/requirements of the editor in question - their talkpage, my talkpage, Jaspee Deng's talkpage ...they insisted it remain (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 09:44, 27 March 2012 (UTC)

Help request

Hi Bmusician! Through the new editors Feedback Dashboard, I came across an editor who was expanding on an article about her father, saxophonist, Sigurd Raschèr. I left messages on the daughter's, User:Kattamaki, talk page talking about COI and NPOV. I believe she is just interested in fleshing out and expanding on some information on her father's life. She has me interested now, too! :)

The subject is notable, and I'm finding lots of resources online, but my question is about an archive/special collection at SUNY Fredonia that she donated and/or curates. Can you shed any light on how special collections are referenced or indexed? Perhaps citing a piece of music? I'm out of my element there! I believe that Kattamaki is under the impression that she can simply say that the material is in the archives without giving specific citations. (in much the same way as another editor we're familiar with, though in a much nicer way).

If you have a moment, I'd appreciate it if you could glance at our talk pages (mine, hers) and let me know if I'm guiding her down the wrong path or offer any suggestions. I'd appreciate it! Wikipelli Talk 15:38, 28 March 2012 (UTC)

Your advice to her is decent – pointing her to WP:COI, WP:RS, and other significant content guidelines. As for citing a piece of music: I believe the music's title, the composer's name, the publication date, and the publisher should be included, as per WP:REFB#References not online. Kattamaki can't simply say that the material is in the archives without giving specific citations, as per WP:V. I'll try to help her improve her father's article! Thanks for letting me know about this. Bmusician 03:06, 29 March 2012 (UTC)

Rami Bar-Niv Promise

I was a bit surprised by the promise in sentence two of User_talk:Joseph10741#Regarding_your_submission_Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation.2FRami_Bar-Niv. I did a bit of research in ProQuest using 37 data bases and got 37 hits.... I looked at the most likely hits and none of them were *about* the musician they were just mentioning him playing in one venue or another. The first six were:

  1. Pianist has infectious enthusiasm: [2 Edition]The Nelson Mail [Nelson] 02 Aug 2003
  2. ARTS DIARY: [2 Edition]The Press [Christchurch, New Zealand] 30 July 2003
  3. ARTS DIARY: [2 Edition]The Press [Christchurch, New Zealand] 07 Apr 1999
  4. SYMPHONY: QUEENS GROUP: [Review]Page, Tim. New York Times [New York, N.Y] 17 Dec 1982
  5. Tickling ivories Anonymous. Manawatu Standard [Palmerston North, New Zealand] 09 Sep 2011
  6. Symphony: Queens Group Page, Tim. New York Times (1923-Current file) [New York, N.Y] 17 Dec 1982: C32.

Possibly his notability has been supported elsewhere.

I hope expectations haven't been raised too far. Regards, Ariconte (talk) 03:51, 29 March 2012 (UTC)

I see you have cleaned it up and moved it. Regards, Ariconte (talk) 03:59, 29 March 2012 (UTC)

hi friend, why my article has not been approved? if you could clarify i would make a better one..pls help me frien.--Regan220982 (talk) 06:01, 30 March 2012 (UTC)

It was rejected because of a fact that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not an Diary!
There was no importance of that article. Compare your article with other existing articles on Wiki, and you, yourself can discover why it was rejected. For further info, please see this: AfC rejection Yasht101 :) 06:05, 30 March 2012 (UTC)
Thanks Yash for stalking. Regan, my rationale for declining your submission is pretty clear: the article lacks any reliable sources, which are needed for verification, and also reliable independent sources, which are needed to establish the notability of the topic. (I've also restored the AfC decline template that you seemingly removed because you clearly do not understand why I declined it.) Best regards. Bmusician 12:12, 30 March 2012 (UTC)

Bar-Niv Reference

The first reference now used for times is self published...."Rami Bar-Niv - Piano Society". Retrieved 2012-03-31." The about page on the site says "the pianist must submit a short biography and a picture to be seen on their personal page in the "ARTISTS "category of the main site.

I suppose I should try to fix it.... but as I said before I did not find any substantial, independent references. Regards, Ariconte (talk) 05:29, 31 March 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for letting me know about this. Bmusician 05:30, 31 March 2012 (UTC)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on User:Bmusician requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Yasht101 :) 10:06, 1 April 2012 (UTC)

Harut Grigorian

Hello. I'm here to ask if you would consider approving Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Harut Grigorian. Also, I have read your "If I declined your Articles for Creation submission" page already.

Did you know that this page previously existed? It was removed only because the original creator was banned, not because the article wasn't good. I have added some new changes, so now the article has even more content.

Also, I'm not sure how farmiliar you are with kickboxing pages, but this page has more or less the same amount of content as most articles about kickboxers.

I really hope you'll consider approving my article again.

Best regards, --TheShadowCrow (talk) 21:17, 2 April 2012 (UTC)

The article is better now; I can move it to article space once you submit it. Best regards, Bmusician 08:07, 3 April 2012 (UTC)

A big NPT update

Hey! Big update on what the developers have been working on, and what is coming up:

coding

  • Fixes for the "moved pages do not show up in Special:NewPages" and "pages created from redirects do not show up in Special:NewPages" bugs have been completed and signed off on. Unfortunately we won't be able to integrate them into the existing version, but they will be worked into the Page Triage interface.
  • Coding has been completed on three elements; the API for displaying metadata about the article in the "list view", the ability to keep the "patrol" button visible if you edit an article before patrolling it, and the automatic removal of deleted pages from the queue. All three are awaiting testing but otherwise complete.

All other elements are either undergoing research, or about to have development started. I appreciate this sounds like we've not got through much work, and truthfully we're a bit disappointed with it as well; we thought we'd be going at a faster pace :(. Unfortunately there seems to be some 24-72 hour bug sweeping the San Francisco office at the moment, and at one time or another we've had several devs out of it. It's kind of messed with workflow.

Stuff to look at

We've got a pair of new mockups to comment on that deal with the filtering mechanism; this is a slightly updated mockup of the list view, and this is what the filtering tab is going to look like. All thoughts, comments and suggestions welcome on the NPT talkpage :). I'd also like to thank the people who came to our last two office hours sessions; the logs will be shortly available here.

I've also just heard that the first functional prototype for enwiki will be deployed mid-April! Really, really stoked to see this happening :). We're finding out if we can stick something up a bit sooner on prototype.wiki or something.

I appreciate there may be questions or suggestions where I've said "I'll find out and get back to you" and then, uh. not ;p. I sincerely apologise for that: things have been a bit hectic at this end over the last few weeks. But if you've got anything I've missed, drop me a line and I'll deal with it! Further questions or issues to the usual address. Thanks, Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 17:19, 3 April 2012 (UTC)

Adoption

Hey, thanks for adopting me! My main focus has been fighting vandals, but I would like to start working with files/images, and eventually obtain the File mover rights through good work. How would I do this? I have no idea where to start. Would this involve the Commons? Thanks, I hope you can help me . WheresTristan Let's talk·Contribs 19:07, 5 April 2012 (UTC)

Hi! File mover rights is something I am wanting to get too, but it's not my main goal I think in order to get the privilege, you must have read and understand the policies and guidelines related to media files, and have requested a few non-controversial renames as well. (See WP:FILEMOVE to see what's supposed to be renamed and what is not) You can actively patrol media files at Special:NewFiles. I hope this helped, please don't hesitate to ask me a question if you need any more help. Bmusician 23:18, 5 April 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for giving me the links to Special:NewFiles. I will read up on the policies and such. WheresTristan Let's talk·Contribs 13:21, 7 April 2012 (UTC)

Should this be declined?

Hi, I am reviewing Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Nonviolent Action and was wondering if it should be declined because I think I may have found a similar article, Nonviolent resistance. What do you think? WheresTristan Let's talk·Contribs 00:56, 6 April 2012 (UTC)

I would see either decline as unsourced or nocontext. I do not think there is even enough information in the submission that could tell me that the two articles are related... Bmusician 01:02, 6 April 2012 (UTC)
Thanks! WheresTristan Let's talk·Contribs 01:11, 6 April 2012 (UTC)
Non-notable... Because there is no clear or unambiguous claim of notability. Use of the verifiability decline reason should be limited to submissions where the notability is clear, but the references don't support it. For reasons made clear in the recently updated reviewing instructions. Pol430 talk to me 12:53, 6 April 2012 (UTC)
I agree with Pol. Bmusician 14:02, 6 April 2012 (UTC)

Checking your relists

Hi there. I was looking through the April 2 AfDs today and I saw some things which confused me. You might want to doublecheck your relists after doing them to be sure your script is working correctly (if you're using a script, if not you might want to check your procedures). Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Chantelle Chuah is one example. It appears that you relisted the procedure just a few hours (03:32) after User:Ron Ritzman already did (00:00). For whatever reason, the procedure didn't unlist from the April 2 log or transclude correctly to the April 9 log, so I unlisted and inserted it manually. Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Anthony Woods (2nd nomination) is another case where it appears you relisted after Ron had already done so. In this case the procedure transcluded to April 9 correctly, but didn't unlist (again, I did this manually). Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Judaea Coin Archive is a bit trickier. It appears that the relist worked perfectly, but for whatever reason, it didn't unlist at April 2 log. After doing these minor repairs I asked another admin to check my repair, since I'm not used to editing the log manually. Scottywong might be able to better help you understand how this happened; I'd never seen it before. Anyway, thanks for your contributions at AfD. Great work. Just be absolutely sure someone didn't get there first. This HAS happened to me... BusterD (talk) 01:40, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

Hi Buster. Thank you for letting me know about this. I have no access to Wikipedia but from my iPhone, so that may cause problems. I remembered that I had a couple of relistings that failed due to an unknown reason...again, thank you for letting me know about this. Bmusician 05:24, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

why did you relist? there were 3 very well founded keeps, and nobody except the nom spoke for deletion. And a keep argument was the existence of the NYT obit, which I think we have always considered definitive. You might want to look again. DGG ( talk ) 03:57, 11 April 2012 (UTC)

Proposed Deletion of Brummer Elementary

Just wanted to inform that you used WP:NSCHOOL which does not exist so I changed it to WP:NOTE. I hope you don't mind that and if there are still corrections possible in my change then do it as I m not aware of Notability guidance for schools. Thanks and Happy patrolling! Yasht101 14:44, 15 April 2012 (UTC)

OOPS, I meant WP:SCHOOL. Thanks for letting me know about this --Bmusician 14:48, 15 April 2012 (UTC)

Saw your PROD there. The band is a hoax - the home web site is a homeschooling debate site, and the one linked person (who purportedly wears eyeliner) is a stage mage in real life. --Dennis The Tiger (Rawr and stuff) 00:43, 16 April 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know about this, and for nominating it for CSD. Bmusician 02:29, 16 April 2012 (UTC)

Hi. When you recently edited François Dumont (pianist), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Poulenc (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

RFA

Hey, can I nominate you for an RFA? Willdude123|Ƹ21ɘbublliW (talk) 16:41, 16 April 2012 (UTC)

Hi Will, Thank you for the offer but I feel I still need 3-4 more months of preparation. When the time comes you of course can nominate me. Best, Bmusician 02:08, 17 April 2012 (UTC)

[2] They called you idiotic but it isn't vandalism. So in case of such personal attact, where to report them? Thanks! Yasht101 05:58, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

You don't need to report this troublemaker now - he has not caused any trouble since I gave him a last warning. In case he makes another personal attack, go ahead and report him. Best, Bmusician 05:59, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
I think that arguing is a waste of time now. Yasht101 06:14, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

Rami Bar-Niv

You may be interested in recent comments at User_talk:Barniv. The two articles (in my opinion) need a lot of cleanup. Regards, Ariconte (talk) 20:24, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know about this. I will read the comments and give advice to Mr. Bar-Niv. Best, Bmusician 01:35, 19 April 2012 (UTC)

Message

Dear Mr. Bmusician, I am sure that by now you have seen my message to Mr. Ravpappa regarding what he did. I am very upset that this guy took it upon himself to destroy/delete what I have spent considerable time doing. I have just restored the page to what it was before and I intend to follow up with the edits that followed after the destruction. I will be making more edits as required. Please be assured that any characterization of Rami Bar-Niv that I use is documented and supported by references. I thank you for your efforts. Sincerely, Joseph De Alejandro April 20, 2012Joseph10741 (talk) 05:25, 21 April 2012 (UTC)

Congrats

You are now a File Mover. Happy 'Moving' .. : ).
P:S, that big message while editing your talk page is a tad bit painful to the eyes. --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 09:11, 21 April 2012 (UTC)

Congrates Sir!
P.S: not really big, I have seen much bigger messages than this Yasht101 09:15, 21 April 2012 (UTC)

Re-optin

I am coming back, but I only want to learn the difference between What's GF and what's not.--Deathlaser :  Chat  15:24, 21 April 2012 (UTC)

Yes, I need to learn what's good faith and what's not. If I keep making mistakes I could get blocked.--Deathlaser :  Chat  15:29, 21 April 2012 (UTC)

I read that page a few times already. I edit wiki as a dynamic IP for 5 months already, except as a dynamic warnings never used to last long.--Deathlaser :  Chat  15:53, 21 April 2012 (UTC)

I am ready for the final exam.--Deathlaser :  Chat  18:45, 21 April 2012 (UTC)
