Warning to me

Regarding your warning to me, polls show that GWB is the worst president, so I don't see any reason not to redirect the pages to him. If a foreigner wonders, "who's the worst US president?" how will they know otherwise? Jiberole 03:02, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Dear admin, Please do a favor for me.Please make this subsection of Belgaon article brief.few editors were unhappy of its length and went ahead to edit it which I didnt approve because they were missing some important points of either side.I request u to make it shorter yet include all important points of either side.I am concerned about NPOV. If u are not able to do so please request some responsible and neutral person to do it.Thanks. Mahawiki 13:11, 1 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Bhadani, it was awesome meeting you and the other wikipedia editors on Friday along with Jimmy Wales. I look to a fantastic relationship with all of you, and hope that we can do everything we can to make Wikipedia popular in India, and get more people to contribute to the Indian-language Wikipedias. Bhadaniji, Thanks for your Ramadan greetings. I do miss things back home ... I don't know if you've ever been to the Muslim areas of any Indian city during Iftar time ... especially the street vendors/food stalls etc. In Bangladesh, the scenes are awesome, and the food items the best tasting of any time. I am scheduled to visit home this winter ... but I still miss not being there right now.

I saw your photo in a blog post on the Bangalore meetup, and it was nice seeing you all. I don't know if Jimbo will ever visit Bangladesh, but I hope I'll meet him sometime in the US. I also hope that the Bangla wikipedia will match the big ones soon. I don't have enough time for wikipedia these days because of my advanced PhD work, and for my focus on Bengali wikipedia development, but I try to edit here and there daily.

Wish you all the best. Don't know whether you celebrate Durga puja or not, but in any case, best wishes for the coming puja. --Ragib 07:59, 2 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Good stuff

[edit]

Your work on the Dictionary of Hindu Lore and Legend, and the use of it to describe various hindu mythological creatures is very well done. You've covered many mythological creatures, and have gone to good lengths providing refernces to them. This may not have been possible if not for your contributions (so it seems judging from their history sections).

Sarvagnya and dab are in some conspiracy to get me blocked. Sarvagnya gave me a bogus warning here for removing a cat from Nathuram Godse. Now he's trying to get dab to block me [2]. Please see: external links, which contain guidelines, and state that "A website that you own or maintain, even if the guidelines above imply that it should be linked to. This is because of neutrality and point-of-view concerns; neutrality is an important objective at Wikipedia, and a difficult one. If it is relevant and informative, mention it on the talk page and let other — neutral — Wikipedia editors decide whether to add the link." In view of this, if you want to link the site, please specify on the talk page of the article. Other editors, if found "ok", whould surely link them. --Bhadani 12:07, 4 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The former as in Raul654/Raul's laws. And the latter an article referred to in Andjam/Sandbox. My main concern with the article was all the euphemisms it had, which I subsequently removed.

I think I did not break any law of good conduct.

Starting A WikiProject

[edit]

Hi Bhadani, I saw the pics from your meet with Jimbo Wales. It's great to know that Indians are so active in contributing to Wikipedia that Jimbo himself had to take notice. And of course, you are leading the way. I trully appreciate the things you've done and I wish my best for your future work in improving Wikipedia. In the quest for improving articles in Wikipedia, I am thinking of starting a new WikiProject on Maharashtra for Maharashtra and Marathi-related articles. I know a few editors who are contributing a lot to Marathi-related articles as well as some who wish to. So I thought, it would be great if their resources are focused through a project. I also know of a few editors who are perhaps wasting a few of their resources in getting in brawls with other linguistic users, so it could be good for them as well, if they get a proper direction through a project.

And an admin BInguyen has already created a Portal for Maharashtra, Portal:Maharashtra. So, it would be really good if we have a project like Wikipedia:WikiProject West Bengal.Of course, having experience of creating a WikiProject helps aswell. Yeah, I have already created one WikiProject, Wikipedia:WikiProject Metal, which is now really bustling with participants and a lot of good things have been done because of that. I have already started working on the layout of the project, but it would be great if you provide your views on this. Thanks. --NRS | T/M\B 14:54, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I thank you for your message. I have seen Portal:Maharashtra, as also Wikipedia:WikiProject West Bengal. A new WikiProject on Maharashtra on the line of Wikipedia:WikiProject West Bengal is a great idea. If Portal:Maharashtra is converted into Wikipedia:WikiProject Maharashtra than that would avoid duplication, perhaps. Please seek the opinion of BInguyen, he is a great wikipedian. I shall surely try to contribute as far as possible. It was nice to learn about the Project Metal. I wish you all the best! --Bhadani 16:06, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
And, also. --Bhadani 03:27, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh yes, sometimes the discussions can be quite pointless. I often comment on some fairly controversial issues and sometimes I help with vandals and etc - it can be frustrating. Sometimes, when I am frustrated by controversy and politics, I try to find a very quiet corner of the encyclopedia. Writing a stub is a good way to do this. In fact, just today I made Mount Anderson (Antarctica). It is a very quiet little space to work because no one knows it is there! You are welcome to come join me on my "mountaintop" if you need a little break. Whatever you do, I hope you hang in there and that you feel happier soon. Please let me know if I can help in any way. The page has been hijacked by the Kannada-Maratha debate. Sarvagnya is trolling on the page and going against a consensus made by both Hindu and Urdu speakers, and with his cabal of Kannada users keeps unilaterally deleting the Devanagari. Happy Diwali!!!
Known as the "Festival of Lights" in India, Diwali symbolises the victory of good over evil. It represents celebration of hope and life, and is an occasion to strengthen relationships. This year, it is celebrated on December 12, 2024. I take this as an occasion to wish you the best in the days to come. May this Diwali invigorate you, bringing you more happiness and content. Happy Diwali!!!

A new project has been created, to exclusively deal with Maharashtra and Marathi-related articles. You are invited to join the WikiProject Maharashtra. The project aims to develop Marathi and Maharashtra-related articles to Featured Article-status. You can join the WikiProject by adding your username here. However, don't forget to visit the project page. This is of course, a sister project of Portal:Maharashtra. Come, join us in developing Wikipedia. Thanks,

Greetings

[edit]

Thanks for your greetings and wish you the same though I never celebrate any festival. Your greeting actually was your third message for me. I failed to understand the meaning of the first two and even now fail to understand the meaning of your comments here [[5]]. Please don't bother about my presence here. I am not interested in a WP career and my only interest was to attempt a bit of cleaning of much muck (in Kerala related content) heaped here. Administrative abuse, cronyism that condones abuse, supine support for abuse etc. have made me doubt the wisdom of continuing here. Kundan After Sundown 17:42, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

When I started my second editor review, I had no idea how greatly helpful it would be to me. Here are people from across the world who I've never met or laid eyes upon, taking their personal time to think about me and offer me valuable criticism and advice. And the stuff I've learnt is more helpful in real life than just on Wikipedia. This is an experiment I will never forget. I thank you most sincerely for your kindness, for helping me be a better person. I am very much in your debt. Rama's arrow 15:44, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You are too kind sir. I had just exclaimed to Sundar this morning that I did not deserve so many barnstars, and you come along and give me "Lots of Barnstars!" Your kindness and support are much appreciated. I wish I could have come to Bangalore and met you, Sundar, Gurubrahma and the others. Perhaps the first Wikimania in India will permit us all to meet. your recent post regarding the wikitravel link

[edit]

Reference

Well here is the justification..For example I went to the Grand Canyon page on wikipedia which is probably the best example of a tourist destination..and in the external links section they have a wikitravel link. That would be very natural because once a visitor has learned more about Grand Canyon at wikipedia he would probably like to get travel related details that he can find at wikitravel. Hence the link and hence the importance. And then if you do the same for the Taj Mahal you would essentially do it for every tourist destination in India. How would you decide to keep it limited? And how does that mean to be promotional in any way? You have not given any justification for that. I dont think wikitravel is promotional, or linking to it being promotional in any way.

Also, Indore at wikitravel is an empty page and so is Taj Mahal at wikitravel. But I still linked it. I presume that would mean that those pages at wikitravel will have to be written at some point in time too, even though they are empty right now. Let me know if I'm wrong. The reason why I started out doing this is becuase it was my first time editing at wikipedia and I thought it would be the easy things to do before going on to do something harder. Its like getting yourself familiar and getting your feet wet. I thought that in the process I would also get familiar with what all the pages look like right now. And please dont think that I would be playing wicked games here, because its my valuable time here before anything else. In any case, I guess you are the admin here and in all seriousness you can decide on what I have written above and let me know if it still needs to be discontinued and that it is not important. Thats not a problem. Let me know what I can do otherwise to be more useful. If need be those links can be removed. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anchitk (talkcontribs) of 29.10.06

Hi Bhadani, thank your for the barnstar. You write:

"Many do not like Indians to maintain India related pages"

It is possible that I have blinders on. I see many India related articles editted by Indians and mostly I do not see remarks suggesting that Indian editors should not be maintaining these articles. I do see that occasionally, but have thought of it as isolated editors, rather than it being widespread or an instiutional problem. Please tell me more.

this?

I had to investigate to learn what the BS on the barn star stood for, i.e. "Back Scratch". The barnstar page says it represents an "I'll scratch your back if you scratch mine" ethos, causing me to do some soul searching. I sometimes like to think of my actions as being motivated by my duty, rather than by the fruits that I might reap. But your gift has helped me to remember that we are never as noble as our pride would like us to believe. Reminders of the truth are always a gift, even if they are not universally sought after. A sweet gift, such as you have given me should not be the cause of any embarrassment. Your brother, --BostonMA talk 18:36, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My response --Bhadani 12:38, 1 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Bhadani. Do not fear that you have offended me, you have not. It is I who should apologize for misunderstanding the meaning of the slogan and causing you to worry. There is a Thanksgiving holiday in the US. It happens less these days, but from time to time I have been invited to dine with friends and feast upon a bird. Although I decline this gift because of my diet, I must still recognize the gift as a gift, made sincerely, and perhaps even with love. I know your gift is genuine, and I tried to accept it as I understood it, and I am sorry that I misunderstood. (misunderstanading based on summary here) Now I owe you a barnstar, and I shall choose one presently. --BostonMA talk 14:07, 1 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
