Speedy deletion nomination of Factoryase
[edit]Please refrain from introducing inappropriate pages, such as Factoryase, to Wikipedia. Doing so is not in accordance with our policies. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Factoryase
[edit]Hello. I wanted to let you know that I deleted Factoryase because it seemed like gibberish, but I restored it after another editor showed me that you referred to "factoryase" in Beta clamp. Could you please try to clean up Factoryase so it's a little more comprehensible to the general reader and, to the extent possible, add citations from reliable sources. Thank you. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 06:57, 20 December 2009 (UTC)
Re: Beta clamp
[edit]No worries. I'm sorry my comments were mostly negative. I actually think it's quite hard to start a new Wikipedia article nowadays—most articles Wikipedia should have are already written, or at least in progress. The main task for Wikipedians today is to improve the quality of existing articles. You might be interested in this list of molecular biology-related articles. Start-class articles tend to be the easiest to improve, especially through the addition of references, which is much easier than it used to be thanks to the {{cite doi}} and {{cite pmid}} tools. Adrian J. Hunter(talk•contribs) 13:06, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
- Hi again Betaclamp. The article you created hasn't vanished, it's been merged into DNA clamp as the section titled "Beta clamp", which didn't exist before the merge. This section provides readers with information specifically about the beta clamp itself, while the rest of the article provides context. Readers who are unfamiliar with DNA replication can find background information from links in the article's lead, such as DNA replication and DNA polymerase III holoenzyme. This way of organising Wikipedia helps us avoid explaining the same things over and over in different articles and provides a consistent structure to aid readers' navigation. I think most of the content in the original article that you wrote that is not present in DNA clamp is already covered those linked articles, so I don't think there's much more that needs to be added to the DNA clamp article.
- Anyway, if you want to access old versions of the Beta clamp article you can do so through the article's history. The last version edited by you was this one; the last version before the merge was this (an unregistered contributor re-wrote quite a bit to create that version).
- I'm not sure whether that fully answers your questions – please feel free to ask for clarification. All the best, Adrian J. Hunter(talk•contribs) 13:32, 13 March 2010 (UTC)
Hi Betaclamp, I turned this page into a redirect to to Okazaki fragment (see WP:REDIR), so it just sends a user straight there. Is that what you wanted? You mentioned creating a disambiguation page, but there's nothing to disambiguate (see WP:DAB). Let me know if I can help with anything-- Glenfarclas (talk) 08:09, 16 January 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Pre-initiation complex
[edit]A tag has been placed on Pre-initiation complex requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Wiktionary
[edit]Hi Betaclamp, and thanks for your note.
I'm afraid I have almost zero knowledge of Wiktionary, nor have I ever heard of those words, so I doubt I can be much help. You might be interested in the Wiktionary Community Portal, which has links to Wiktionary's help pages and policy pages.
Best of luck, Adrian J. Hunter(talk•contribs) 07:42, 18 April 2010 (UTC)
Welcome to Wikipedia! I am glad to see you are interested in discussing a topic. However, as a general rule, talk pages such as Talk:Carbon dioxide are for discussion related to improving the article, not general discussion about the topic. If you have specific questions about certain topics, consider visiting our reference desk and asking them there instead of on article talk pages. Thank you. re Dna clamp
[edit]I see what you mean. I'm not an expert in this, but my understanding was that "beta clamp" specifically referred to the prokaryote DNA clamp, whereas the DNA clamp in eukaryotes was made from a different protein called the Proliferating Cell Nuclear Antigen. Apparently the beta clamp binds as a dimer whereas PCNA binds as a trimer, so they really are different proteins (not just the same protein with different names). I've no idea whether there are any others. I'd double-check against proper references, but I'm afraid I'm over my internet quota at the moment and need to stick to text-based sites. Adrian J. Hunter(talk•contribs) 14:21, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
- Hi Betaclamp, and sorry for my slow response... Real life has been keeping me busy lately. Yeah the diagrams are terrific – thank User:Boghog2 for those, who's great with that sort of thing.
- I didn't quite get your last post... Did you conclude there's a problem with the labelling of one of the diagrams at DNA clamp? Adrian J. Hunter(talk•contribs) 14:37, 31 August 2010 (UTC)
Ocean acidification
[edit]Howdy, and first let me extend a hearty welcome to Wikipedia! I noticed your edit to Ocean acidification; unfortunately it is not really what we do in Wikipedia articles. They are not a place for original research or policy advice (since that probably violates neutral point of view). As such I was forced to remove your addition. But don't let that discourage you! I'd be happy to help with any questions you have about editing, and I hope you do continue to help out. Thanks very much for the interest and work on the project. --TeaDrinker (talk) 04:50, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for the note! Probably not, since policy recommendations are almost always non-neutral point of view (by design). It is sometimes acceptable to post opinions from very notable groups or organizations, cited to them, but usually we stick to just reporting the facts, so-to-speak. I should also note that climate change on Wikipedia is pretty contentious. By no means do I mean to discourage you from editing (quite the opposite, in fact, it looks like you're doing excellent work), but be ready to discuss edits (sometimes extensively). (I should also note, it is unnecessary to sign posts in the article-space, only in talk-space.) If it was included, the phrasing would have to be something like "Group xx has outlines a multi-step approach to reversing ocean acidification which includes..." The inclusion of such opinions, however, can't give undue weight to that particular policy opinion. I'd suggest writing a note on the talk page of the article with your proposed text (short is probably better), and see what people think. If there's anything I can do to help, do feel free to let me know. Thanks again! --TeaDrinker (talk) 05:14, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
- I can certainly appreciate that viewpoint; people do have very strong views about climate change the future of humanity. But there's a good essay on strong opinions in Wikipedia called Beware of the tigers. Wikipedia's mission is neutral point of view, regardless of our strong personal convictions on the matter. And as a public education tool, this is pedagogically quite valuable. It makes it much harder to dismiss (rightly or wrongly) Wikipedia as "just another biased source." Although some certainly try to suggest that, in reality we focus very intently on just the facts (as reported in reliable sources). I hope this helps, --TeaDrinker (talk) 05:42, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
Nov 2010 and we (& Jon Stewart) are still showing the unfortunately seemingly unending discrepancies between G. W. Bush and Sanity.
[Overheard] General Petraeus's strategy to eliminate (kill) Afghan Elders only leaves an IN for the frightfully UNDISCIPLINED youthful Replacements! Also overheard: that was Talibans are Afghans, yet while in all of the other areas that must be under control, Al-Queda exists PRIMARILY IN THE INTERNET whereas the Taliban exist only in a very small Quarter: so to fight this physical minority and ignore Computer-Queda is called - shortsightedness. ~ Betaclamp (talk) 07:42, 12 November 2010 (UTC)

[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. Please do not replace pages with blank content, as you did with this edit to Beta clamp, as this is confusing to readers. The page's content has been restored for now. If there is a problem with the page, it should be edited or reverted to a previous version if possible; if you think the page should be removed entirely, see further information. Thank you. — Jeff G. ツ 04:09, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
Welcome to Wikipedia. If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:
- editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
- participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
- linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.
For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. — Jeff G. ツ 04:09, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Beta clamp. Users who edit disruptively or refuse to collaborate with others may be blocked if they continue. In particular the three-revert rule states that making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24-hour period is almost always grounds for an immediate block. If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the talk page to discuss controversial changes. Work towards wording and content that gains consensus among editors. If unsuccessful, then do not edit war even if you believe you are right. Post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If edit warring continues, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Boghog (talk) 06:20, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
Beta/DNA clamp
[edit]Hi. Concerning the beta clamp article, this was merged into DNA clamp by consensus (see discussion). At that time, you were invited to participate in the discussion, but choose not to. By recreating the beta clamp article, you are effectively contesting the previous merger proposal. Therefore I have started a new merger discussion here. Unless you provide adequate justification for undoing the previous merger, the likely community consensus will be again to merge the two articles. Boghog (talk) 06:16, 9 December 2010 (UTC)

to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. - Re your message: You are welcome to recreate the article, but you will need to expand upon the article for it to remain. You did not explain what a "bifurcated plate" is. You just said it was "Free Energy Obtained" followed by what read more like an advertisement than an article. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 17:19, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on User:Betaclamp, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
