Wiki Law Project
I wonder if law firm histories, mergers and reputations could fall within the remit of the wiki law project. I have been working on expanding the coverage of law firms within wikipedia. What do you say? --Mediterraneo (talk) 01:02, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

Nanotechnology and medicine
You speedy deleted this article as a blatant copyvio, however I checked the article where it came from and they made it clear that they copied it from us. I think it is important to properly check tags and not take them at face value. Anyway I've undeleted the article and redirected it to nanomedicine. Your view
Hi there,
With reference to your view here kindly point out where in its current form, you find the article to be
- potentially embarassing, (provide a diff)
- libelous, (provide a diff)
- a troll magnet (provide a diff).
I am more then willing to make sure that nothing of this sort happens with the article, and will need your help to make it a neutral, balanced and a good wikipedia article. here is the page, please point out where it lacks wikipedia standard. and suggest improvement. --talk-to-me! Page reverted back to POV version
Dear Bearian,
I saw your post here and went to see what you were talking about. Looking in the history it seems that some IPs cleaned it up, but then Cult Free World has reverted all of the changes you spoke about here. Feedback welcome. Thanks. Renee (talk) 15:37, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
- Please don't go. We need people to stand up for what's right. If you go then Cult Free will think he can just game us all, which he's already done as other users. It seems no one wants to stand up and act on this one and we need some moral backbone in Wikipedia to make it work. Thank you. Renee (talk) 16:36, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

Re: The Family Man
Hi, I have completed the article on The Family Man (TV Series), so I am open to your suggestions. I am also trying to make a disambiguation page so this article can be accessed more widely; in a general search, the 2000 movie of the same name comes up. -numbaonestunna —Preceding unsigned comment added by Numbaonestunna (talk • contribs) 22:41, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

Actually it wasn't a test. It was a serious application for adminship, in light of my belief that the procedure to adminship is rather too burdensome given that the majority of editors, like myself, see WP as a part-time hobby. --Jamesmh2006 16:26, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
Please substitute block tags
I noticed you tagged User_talk:Active-Labs with {{username}}, you should use {{subst:username}} per WP:UW and WP:UTM. This is the same as for all warnings and block tags, otherwise they won't properly categorize the page and the notices will change when the template is changed which is not desirable for these types of templates. Thanks. --Doug.(talk • contribs) 05:19, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
My RFA has closed
My RFA that you weighed in on earlier has closed as no consensus to promote, at a final tally of 120/47/13. I thank you for your feedback and comments there, and I'm going to be considering all the various advice and comments presented. I might end up at RFA again some day, or not. If you see me there again in the future, perhaps you might consider a Support !vote. If not, not, and no hard feelings. The pen is still mightier than the mop! See you around, and thanks again. Twinkle
Twinkle and the CSDWarnBot notify the first contributor to a page that's been nominated for speedy deletion, and because you'd userfied the Aneel Rajani page, it had you listed as the first contributor, so Twinkle notified you, then when I removed that, the Bot figured you hadn't been notified yet, so it went ahead and did it again. Fun! --Closedmouth (talk) 04:19, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for supporting my recent request for adminship which was successful with 89 supports, 0 opposes, and 2 neutrals. Oliviermillerioux?
Whoa there! You just blocked User:Oliviermillerioux for a username violation. People's names aren't username violations. I think you should undo this.
In the template, you've basically asked him to keep contributing to Wikipedia, but he's not allowed to use his own name. That makes no sense.
rspeer / ɹəədsɹ 17:39, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
- Last I knew, we didn't block people for getting an article speedy deleted. There's just no reason the username policy should be involved. You left a template for the user saying "Your username is unacceptable for Wikipedia", when the problem has nothing to do with the username. rspeer / ɹəədsɹ 17:46, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, I saw that. They created an article on themselves. It got speedy deleted. What was the block for? rspeer / ɹəədsɹ 17:48, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

Unconventional
Not my material, it's split from unconventional warfare. There was a fair amount of drama regarding the purpose of that article, so it was essentially reverted back to a generic form, and I moved the specialized content to a new title. Unfortunately, we may have lost the contributing editor as a result of some of the IP drama on talk:unconventional warfare (see a section or two up on my talk page). Hopefully not though, I'm going to try and encourage him to stay. Cheers, --Bfigura (talk) 18:33, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

Hey, Bearian. I noticed that you Supported this candidate for adminship, but you had already added a neutral !vote on the 26th of April, here. The duplicate votes threw an error at RfAbot, so I indented your initial Neutral !vote here. I did this to correct the count, to resolve the error with the bot, and because the neutral was the older of the two !votes - but, by all means, please correct me if I erred in any way. New Project
Myself and several other editors have been compiling a list of very active editors who would likely be available to help new editors in the event they have questions or concerns. As the list grew and the table became more detailed, it was determined that the best way to complete the table was to ask each potential candidate to fill in their own information, if they so desire. This list is sorted geographically in order to provide a better estimate as to whether the listed editor is likely to be active.
If you consider yourself a very active Wikipedian who is willing to help newcomers, please either complete your information in the table or add your entry. If you do not want to be on the list, either remove your name or just disregard this message and your entry will be removed within 48 hours. The table can be found at User:Useight/Highly Active, as it has yet to have been moved into the Wikipedia namespace. Thank you for your help. Useight (talk) 02:57, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

Block on User Wilhelmina_Will
Per User_talk:Wilhelmina_Will#Block_for_48_hours, I am not sure I understand the reason for the block. Whatever else I could say, there does not appear to be any vandalism from looking at his contrib log to France or any other articles. The user actually reverted vandalism here and a not useful edit here. Earlier fix was for Nice. Is there a chance you confused this user with the vandals WW was reverting. --Marcinjeske (talk) 04:01, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

Rfb participation thanks
Hello, Bearian.
Thank you, blah blah blah.
:-P
Seriously, I wanted to personally thank you for taking part in the project-wide discussions regarding my candidacy for bureaucratship. After bureaucratic discussion, the bureaucrats decided that there was sufficient significant and varied opposition to my candidacy, and thus no consensus to promote. Although personally disappointed, I both understand and respect their decision, especially in light of historical conservatism the project has had when selecting its bureaucrats. If you have any further suggestions or comments as to how you think I could help the project, please let me know. Once again, thank you for your support. -- Avi (talk) 17:16, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi Bearian, I wanted to say thank you for supporting my request for adminship, which passed with 100 supports, 0 opposes and 1 neutral. Hi Bearian,
Just to draw your attention to the fact that your final warning to Nemesisman [1] has had absolutely no impact whatsoever [2]. I attempted to draw his/her attention to the inappropriacy of deleting tags as long ago as April 22 [3]. No response has been forthcoming. Should I take this matter to AIV? I'm of the opinion (just a hunch) that Nemesisman is an employee of Mr Papalexis, which would go most of the way to explaining his/her behaviour. Many thanks, AlasdairGreen27 (talk) 21:25, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

NYSR participants list
As discussed at WT:USRD, the participants list at WP:USRD is being split by state. Since your name has only "NY" next to it, your name has been removed from the large USRD-wide table, and your name has been added to the NY-specific table. This is part of the lengthy process. If this is in error, please let me know immediately. Regards, Rschen7754 (T C) 04:56, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

NYC Meetup: June 1, 2008
New York City Meetup
|
In the afternoon, we will hold a session dedicated to meta:Wikimedia New York City activities, elect a board of directors, and hold salon-style group discussions on Wikipedia and the other Wikimedia projects (see the last meeting's minutes).
We'll also review our recent Wikipedia Takes Manhattan event, and make preparations for our exciting successor Wiki Week bonanza, being planned with Columbia University students for September or October.
In the evening, we'll share dinner and chat at a local restaurant, and (weather permitting) hold a late-night astronomy event at Columbia's telescopes.
You can add or remove your name from the New York City Meetups invite list at Wikipedia:Meetup/NYC/Invite list.
Also, check out our regional US Wikimedia chapters blog Wiki Northeast (and we're open to guest posts).

Bearian, I appreciate you help and comment on Samoilovich Alexander N.. Please feel free to correct anything you may find peacocky, I am gretaful in advance for any improvement. Barefact (talk) 21:46, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
- last name = Samoilovich (Самойлович), first name = Alexander (Александр), patronymic = Nikolaevich (Николаевич). In English-lingual publications the patronymic is usually dropped, in bibliographical listings the first name and patronymic are abbreviated to initials. I am using this convention. Barefact (talk) 14:44, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
- Dear Bearian, I noticed some puzzling effect, in [4] some of the names show correctly, and some are misplaced, even though they are assembled with the same structure: Muller in Gerhardt Friedrich Muller falls under "G" instead of "M", but Koprulu in Mehmet Fuat Koprulu falls correctly under "K" and not "M". At first I thought that the article headers need to be changed, but at a closer examination the misplacements look completely random. Can you advice me or help to correct? Barefact (talk) 21:38, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
- Dear Bearian, I appreciate your response [5], and that is precisely what I am following. And that is what caused my question: exactly the same structures bring different results in the categories listings, for example [6]. When the category lists first name instead of last name, I tried to change the article name adding patronyms, but it still did not correct the category listing. There must be something else that makes it to read first name instead of the last name. What is it? Barefact (talk) 06:36, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
