LGBT categories
Hi again! I see you add LGBT-related categories to biographies of living people, which is great, except sometimes the entry's prose does not actually confirm the subject's sexual preference or gender identity. Sure, we can assume most drag queens are LGBT, but this is not always the case. Part of me thinks this is no big deal, but part of me thinks we should not be adding LGBT-related categories unless sources and an article's prose warrant category inclusion. Curious if you have any thoughts. Thanks! ---Another Believer (Talk) 14:30, 13 November 2023 (UTC)

Org website as acceptable primary source
Hi Bearcat. Thanks for your work editing the Hannah Green (poet) article. I notice that in this edit you removed the citation for Green's editorship at CV2, which was the journal's own masthead page for being an unsuitable self-published primary source. According to the Wikipedia:PRIMARYSOURCE, that appears to be an acceptable use, which is elaborated on in Wikipedia:Identifying and using primary sources explanatory essay: "The organization's own website is an acceptable (although possibly incomplete) primary source for information about what the company says about itself and for most basic facts about its history, products, employees, finances, and facilities." and "The person's autobiography, own website, or a page about the person on an employer's or publisher's website, is an acceptable (although possibly incomplete) primary source for information about what the person says about themself. Such primary sources can normally be used for non-controversial facts about the person and for clearly attributed controversial statements."
If this was in any way a controversial statement this would not be a reliable source, but the self-published nature doesn't seem to me to be a problem in the case of this simple claim. If your complaint is that it's an inappropriate use of a self-published source for a claim about a third party, as per Wikipedia:BLPSPS, I think that the org's proximity to the subject (employing them) makes it no longer fully a third party source. Sorry for that wall of text, I'm just trying to understand what I did wrong. Thanks! Handpigdad (talk) 20:51, 22 November 2023 (UTC)
years in FRY categorization
Hi, I noticed you created category redirects like this yesterday, but that's supposed to be going the other way around per Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2023_November_8#Federal_Republic_of_Yugoslavia? Is this some sort of a technicality to help the bot do the work of renaming, or? --Joy (talk) 10:03, 24 November 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for the explanation, when I looked around a bit further, I observed the possible race condition and suspected this might have been the case :) --Joy (talk) 14:27, 24 November 2023 (UTC)
You know that templates can populate categories, right? When you remove the templates you can break other things. The file above was nearly deleted because you removed the license tag and VRT information just to get rid of the category. Instead of yelling in all-caps in an edit summary blindly reverting my replacement of the tag and VRT information, maybe you should have just gone to the template and removed the redlinked category that you found to be problematic.
