[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Road 65 (Iran) has been reverted.

Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove unwanted links and spam from Wikipedia. The external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. The external links I reverted were matching the following regex rule(s): \bblog(?:cu|fa|harbor|mybrain|post|savy|spot|townhall)?\.com\b (links: http://nimafarid.blogspot.com). If the external link you inserted or changed was to a blog, forum, free web hosting service, or similar site, then please check the information on the external site thoroughly. Note that such sites should probably not be linked to if they contain information that is in violation of the creator's copyright (see Linking to copyrighted works), or they are not written by a recognised, reliable source. Linking to sites that you are involved with is also strongly discouraged (see conflict of interest).

If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! --XLinkBot (talk) 10:45, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Help with an infobox

[edit]

I see you created an infobox recently. I did too, for the first time ever. After a lot of practice, I thought I would get it right, but it didn't come out.

Since you know how to make an infobox, I would appreciate your help fixing up the one I made so it becomes useful. If you have some free time and you think you can help, please go to Template:Infobox busline where you can find it. Any help would be appreciated. Sebwite (talk) 01:28, 20 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I see you have worked on the infobox. Thank you for your help toward making this IB viable. Sebwite (talk) 17:21, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox busline

[edit]

Thank you very much for your completion of Template:Infobox busline. All your help is appreciated.

There are still a few minor glitches that need to be fixed, and that is probably very easy.

In the first two articles I tried to use it in, Route 1 (MTA Maryland) and Route 3 (MTA Maryland), the first paragraph of text comes out looking extremely large and bold-printed. Also, those subjects within the infobox that are not in use, instead of not showing at all, are showing with the formatting (e.g. {{{length}}}).

This fix will probably take changes to just a few characters.

Once again, thank you so much. Sebwite (talk) 19:38, 22 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox busline

I have read your message you sent me. In the future, I would like to create more infoboxes. So please let me know what the solution is. Sebwite (talk) 18:36, 14 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Kordestan Expressway requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. File source problem with File:Road 41.jpg

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Road 41.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 14:11, 12 September 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Istcol (talk) 14:11, 12 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

British Columbia route shields on the "list of" dab pages

[edit]

Please stop adding British Columbia route shields on the "list of" dab pages. Unlike most shields, they are not freely licensed and thus their usage must comply with WP:NFCC - namely, there must be a fair-use rationale for each use of the shields. Since the fair-use rationale for the shields covers the article on that shield's route only, they cannot be used elsewhere. Additionally, WP:NFCC#9 prohibits the use of non-free content on dab pages. Thanks for your contribution. You have uploaded many pictures and maps of Iran's roads. It will be much better if you upload them again in Wiki commons. If you do that, they will be usable in Farsi wiki and all other wikis in future and if you update a map, you will be sure that all wikis (English, Farsi and others) will be updated. Redards

Thank you for uploading this media, It would be appreciated if you could add :

  • 1-2 paragraphs explaining what is shown in the image.

As well as helping those categorising the image, it will help place the image in context and allow other users of the image (including academics) to make better use of the image :)

A tag has been placed on Template:Iranian expressways requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{transclusionless}}</noinclude>).

To quote from Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion -
The creator of a page may not remove a Speedy Delete tag from it. Only an editor who is not the creator of a page may do so. A creator who disagrees with the speedy deletion should instead add {{hangon}} to the page and explain the rationale on the page's discussion page.
Hope this helps. -- WOSlinker (talk) 22:28, 12 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Use of File:Tehran Metro Logo.gif on various articles

[edit]

I've reverted your reinsertion of this logo in icon form onto various articles. This is due to the use of the image failing a number of requirements under WP:NFCC policy, including #1 as the image's use can be replaced by text, #3 for overuse of non-free images, #8 for significance as not increasing reader understanding in any significant way, #8 for being used as an icon, and #10c for being used without an appropriate non-free rationale being provided. The use you are attempting is not supported by our policies or WP:NFC guidelines. Please do NOT restore the images again. If you have questions, ask. Thank you, --Hammersoft (talk) 15:59, 6 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Haqqani.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Thank you for uploading File:47961654.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright and licensing status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

Please do not continue to upload files missing information on their copyright status, as you did with File:47961654.jpg. Note that Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously and that the copyright status of all media files uploaded to Wikipedia must be verifiable by others. If you are unsure of the correct copyright template, please refer to the list of image copyright tags. If you would like to experiment with uploading files, please use the test Wikipedia. Thank you. And please don't use a tag claiming you are the owner of the copyright. Eeekster (talk) 01:36, 14 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:47961654.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

Good work you have done updating the map of counties of Iran, but I would just like to remind you, that although there have been plans for it, Karaj is not a seperate province from Tehran yet, so if you could please correct the map...Kermanshahi (talk) 11:16, 21 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

roads, highways, expressways of Iran - lack of referencing

[edit]

I see you created a lot of these articles from 2009 onwards. So far none of the ones I have looked at have references. Do you have references for them? If so, could you add them to the articles, please. GraemeLeggett (talk) 17:45, 6 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hello

My most important reference is my own observations of the road signs in the roads and this map (the website is not the author). Can you help me in finding a way for referencing these? Nima Farid (talk) 18:05, 6 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Damavand

[edit]

Hi, You've changed the redirect destination of Damavand to Damavand, Iran. I think that Mount Damavand is much more important than Damavand city and most people who search Damavand, means Damavand Mountain. What's your idea?--M samadi (talk) 21:28, 18 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I think you are right and when I was changing it I thought of that but I thought because Damavand is the official name of the city it is better for it to redirect to Damavand, Iran. But if you think that changing it is not a good idea I will try to change it back. Nima Farid (talk) 13:12, 20 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I've done it.--M samadi (talk) 15:14, 20 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Fazlollah1.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Fazlollah1.jpg, which you've sourced to Panoramio. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 02:13, 7 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article 15 Khordad (Paramont) Intersection has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No indication of notability.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. File permission problem with File:Chamran-Jalal-e-Ale Ahmad.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Chamran-Jalal-e-Ale Ahmad.jpg, which you've attributed to http://www.panoramio.com/photo/20160099. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included.

Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 23:43, 30 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Online polls in the Iranian election

[edit]

Hi there Nima, I was hoping you could discuss this on the talk page for the polling article. If we're keeping this as a separate article, we really need to follow Wikipedia guidelines on what constitutes a "reliable source." Online polls only register the opinion of who clicks on them, and there is no "margin of error" that makes a poll useful. Further, these are primary sources, and not verifiable to other users. Does that make sense? I know it looks like I'm removing a lot from the article, but really I'm trying to save it here.-- Patrick, oѺ 18:33, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Some of your images

[edit]

Greetings! I've been moving some of our free Iran-related images to Wikimedia Commons, so that other Wikimedia projects can have access to them as well, and I came across the many images you have created. I wanted to thank you for your excellent maps and highway signs! It must have taken a long time to create them all, and they are very well organized. Thank you!

I've also noticed the many photographs of roads you have uploaded, and I've moved them to Wikimedia Commons as well. But I also see on your talk page that many of the photo you uploaded have been deleted as copyright infringements. So I wanted to ask you, personally, about some of these photographs, just so I can know for sure. Here are the photo's I'm asking about:

Did you create these photos with your own camera? Or did you find them on the Internet somewhere, such as a forum? I just want to know, so we can best determine how to organize and credit them. Thank you for your time, – Quadell (talk) 13:21, 18 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for letting me know. I'm afraid we will probably have to remove these images from Wikipedia, unfortunately. Please don't take it personally -- I'm very grateful for the self-made images you've contributed, and the wonderful updated information on Iran and related topics. The nomination is here. All the best, – Quadell (talk) 11:28, 24 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Nima, how much do you know about {{ImageNote}}? I'm asking because you edited the template on Wikipedia before, but it doesn't seem to be working here. Comparing the code of the template with that on Commons, the and tags are used differently. I'm wondering if that's why it's not working. But there's also an extra line of code

{{#ifeq:{{{id|{{{1}}}}}}|1|<!-- -->{{Iffile|1={{ImageNote/header}}}}<!-- -->}}

I'm not sure what it does, but maybe it needs to be added. The page is protected at the moment because it's used by a gadget (I don't know which one), so I was hoping someone else might know how to make it work. Nev1 (talk) 23:02, 23 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a search with the contents of Keshvari Expressway, and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: Shahid Keshvari Expressway. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally trying to rename an article, please see Help:Moving a page for instructions on how to do this without copying and pasting. If you are trying to move or copy content from one article to a different one, please see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia and be sure you have acknowledged the duplication of material in an edit summary to preserve attribution history.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. CorenSearchBot (talk) 06:14, 17 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Infobox road/shieldmain/IND

[edit]

Are you sure about your edits at Template:Infobox road/shieldmain/IND? See National Highway 1 (India)(old numbering) and several other articles which use that template—the shield in the infobox is broken as it displays "NH {{{1}}}". Johnuniq (talk) 06:33, 30 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Template:IND-Road requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion because it is an unused duplicate of another template, or a hard-coded instance of another template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is not actually the same as the other template noted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page explaining how this one is different so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{substituted}}</noinclude>).

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page's talk page, where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Better template

[edit]

We have a better template for working with highway junctions. {{jct}} has been globalized long ago. Some countries have not been added to it yet, but it's not hard to do. There is a Lua module for each country, and that module defines each type of highway, defining what graphics to use, what and how to link and how to abbreviate the titles. This data is then used by {{jct}} and parts of {{infobox road}} to display the graphics and links.

For example, Module:Road data/strings/JOR is the module for Jordan. It defines a MRN type, says that the graphic used should be Mashreq-M%route%.gif (it automatically adds the "File:" and substitutes the route number for %route%). It also says that the link should go to Arab Mashreq International Road Network and the link should be displayed as the abbreviation M%route%. The module also has the information for the HK type, and the last bit says that the Hwy is an alias for the HK type.

Using this module, we can add:

{{jct|country=JOR|MRN|40|Hwy|10}}

to an article to get:

M40 / Highway 10

as on Highway 5 (Jordan). {{jct}} can display as many highways in a single line as needed, insert directions, add destination cities and even display the standardized icons for things like airports. For example, we could have:

I-275 south – Detroit Wayne County Metropolitan Airport, Monroe

You'll also know that the one benefit is that each graphic is followed by a text link. We cannot assume that all readers of our articles are using software that displays a graphic. They could be using screen readers or older text-only web browsers. By always following the highway marker with the text link, that link serves as a caption for the graphic.

If the display of that output needs to be changed, just change the Lua module, and the template will update the articles. If you need help setting up other countries, let me know and I'll get them going. These Lua modules allow us to simplify the template system for highway articles by containing all of the information the templates need to pick the right graphic, link it to the right article and abbreviate the highway's name to the proper abbreviation. By standardizing on one template, {{jct}}, we don't need to support multiple templates all doing the same job. Also, editors will only need to know how to use one powerful template. Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Roads in the Republic of Macedonia requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. gogo3o 06:41, 8 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject assessment tags for talk pages

[edit]

Thank you for your recent articles, including Zalesie Górne railway station, which I read with interest. When you create a new article, can you add the WikiProject assessment templates to the talk of that article? See the talk page of the article I mentioned for an example of what I mean. Usually it is very simple, you just add something like {{WikiProject Keyword}} to the article's talk, with keyword replaced by the associated WikiProject (ex. if it's a biography article, you would use WikiProject Biography; if it's a United States article, you would use WikiProject United States, and so on). You do not have to rate the article if you do not want to, others will do it eventually. Those templates are very useful, as they bring the articles to a WikiProject attention, and allow them to start tracking the articles through Wikipedia:Article alerts and other tools. For example, WikiProject Poland relies on such templates to generate listings such as Article Alerts, Popular Pages, Quality and Importance Matrix and the Cleanup Listing. Thanks to them, WikiProject members are more easily able to defend your work from deletion, or simply help try to improve it further. Feel free to ask me any questions if you'd like more information about using those talk page templates. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 02:19, 27 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the CSD tags from this and the other article as they weren't appropriate. I would advise you to add more content to each article to expand upon them as soon as practical. Even if you took all of the information current present in each infobox and wrote it out in prose format that would be an immediate improvement. Imzadi 1979  20:34, 30 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!

[edit]

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Roads in Georgia (country), you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Kareli and Gori. What language did you add?

[edit]

Heya. I was just wondering, what was the language you wrote in on Wikipedia:Embassy over ten years ago? (In this revision: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Embassy&diff=310717403&oldid=302562776) It looks fascinating, but I haven't been able to figure out in what language it is written. Please do tell! //Lollipoplollipoplollipop::talk 11:55, 5 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

User page demographics

[edit]

BasilLeaf Hey! I've noticed you have some demographics on your user page labelled as Shanshan County which have incorrect figures, according the source it cites. An accurate is presented on the wiki article here. Not trying to call you out or anything, just curious as to why you have that there. FlalfTalk 18:02, 20 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Oh hey, yes the wiki article was updated by me (as well as several other Xinjiang subdivisions wiki pages so far). The bar graph I left on my own page is simply a template, with a list of relevant ethnicities listed in order of how China orders them. It's simply there as template for me to copy-paste to more of Xinjiang's subdivisions (and maybe elsewhere in China) as I add this demographic data to their wiki pages. Your job on German licence plates

[edit]

Thanks for your work! – Actually, I had been thinking about such a list as well, and indeed working on it. Yet on a different scale, cf my sandbox. Comments will be appreciated … how about making up the ideal list of both of ours? Jochen64 (talk) 10:33, 30 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

OH Thank you, I appreciate your comment. And There are several aspects of your table that I do like, and would like to see incorporated into a big unified table. 1. I like the colourcoding of the left-most column, for codes that are reserved and not available to public. 2. I love the little state emblems, did think of doing that in my own list but I focused on first completing the list first. and 3rd, your last column, it's a good foundation for what I have in mind. What I'm thinking, is a column "History and background". For example, let's take the code "AH". It belongs to Borken now, but in that column, we'd have the explanation "Previously allocated to "Ahaus District", merged into Borken on 1975", or whatever applicable historic background. There's also more information from the page de:Liste aller deutschen Kfz-Kennzeichen mit einer Gebietseinteilung that we can include in the history column. But it would be decisions to make between what's going to be informative and what's going to make the table too cluttered.BasilLeaf (talk) 10:54, 30 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I should probably add what my primary intention for my project was, and why I designed it the way I did. My primary goal was to create a comprehensive enough table, so that, when you are out on the street, or on social media, and you spot a German car, and you want to check where the plate was registered at, you can go to this table, scroll down, and efficiently find the answer. Translations

[edit]

Is there a consensus someplace to add Indian translations to the first line of articles? Magnolia677 (talk) 22:09, 2 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

At Meeker, Oklahoma, Indians aren't even mentioned in the article. Why on earth would you add a random translation? Magnolia677 (talk) 22:20, 2 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, the choice of what language to use, isn't really random. Stroud Oklahoma for example, is located on Sac and Fox Tribe Reservation (See official Bureau of Indian affairs map here Link), and the article does mention the Native tribe, where it says that Sac and Fox National headquarters is near the city and is its largest employer. So, while whether to include the name on the first line, or add it to the article at another place, would depend on context. In my opinion, you have a point with Meeker, but not with Stroud for example. The fact that the article doesn't mention that Stroud is on Sac and Fox Reservation, is a shortcoming of the article honestly, and also needs to be addressed. In any case, for all these towns, the addition of this information will be helpful. Maybe not in the first line, but further down the article, in "Geography", "Etymology", or "History" sections. It's best not to delete information that many readers of Wikipedia would find valuable. Would like to hear your opinion on how to address this situation and what policy would be best. BasilLeaf (talk) 22:42, 2 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Please take a moment to read MOS:FIRST and MOS:LEADLANG. A consensus of editors have agreed that you cannot just add "stuff" because you think it will be useful. Thanks for your understanding. Magnolia677 (talk) 23:02, 2 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the links to the style manuals. These are specifically about leading sentences. You've convinced me of my mistake with respect to leading sentences. But, as for inclusion of Native American names in other parts of an article when and where applicable, please see Naming conventions (geographic names) : General guidelines. Your addition to Bukhara Region has been removed or altered, as it appears to closely paraphrase a copyrighted source. Limited close paraphrasing or quotation is appropriate within reason, so long as the material is clearly attributed in the text. However, longer paraphrases which are not attributed to their source may constitute copyright violation or plagiarism, and are not acceptable on Wikipedia. Such content cannot be hosted here for legal reasons; please do not post it on any page, even if you plan to fix it later. You may use external websites or printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If you own the copyright to the text, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. Hi. Sure, Jabar Kili is the name of the main village/settlement in the Tehsil (subdistrict). The more common and official name of the Tehsil is Bettani, which is the name of the Pashtun clan that inhibits in the area. But, the redirect is for if one is to look up the Tehsil with the name of its main settlement. Arebica

[edit]

Greetings. Might I ask you what you are trying to do on the Arebica page? It's great that you're trying to help, but I'm a bit lost on what you're trying to do. I see a couple rectangular boxes (so I suppose those are characters that don't display by default on my computer) as well as some images. I do not immediately see how this is an improvement, so I wanted to ask if you could provide some explanation/context. Thank you! LVDP01 (talk) 15:13, 1 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

there's this character "ح with an inverted v underneath" (), that's the letter for Ć. Even the footnotes of the table refer to that letter. As do external citations on the article. But it's not supported by all computers yet. I'm not sure how to best present a letter that does exist on unicode but doesn't show up everywhere yet. BasilLeaf (talk) 16:35, 1 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, that makes sense.
I think it's best to keep this letter as part of a footnote, both due to its non-standard display, and because the most recent version of Arebica, developed by Mustafić, uses ڃ for ć. LVDP01 (talk) 08:33, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If we are presenting the version developed by Mustafić, we should update the table then too. Right now, the table shows 3-dotted "cheh" (چ) as the letter for both č and ć. Same with nj (ݩ) and đ (ݗ).

Addition of Jawi scripts

[edit]

Please provide proof that Jawi is the official Malay language script in Penang. Previous discussions about this very issue produced no consensus that Jawi has any legal status or should it be added instead of Rumi. hundenvonPG (talk) 23:24, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Hausa Ajami, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Palatization.
