Reversion on List of Generation Z Slang

[edit]

https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=List_of_Generation_Z_slang&action=history

I've reversed your change as "shook" is still relevant slang originating from the Hip-Hop community and frequently used by Gen Z Freee Contributor (talk) 08:30, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The definition being used for "shook" is the literal meaning of the word shook. I don't get how it's zoomer slang? BasedGigachad (talk) 00:41, 6 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You often remove information on that list without any notice to anyone before hand causing confusion for everyone. All articles have a talk page for a reason; it's to provide consensus. You should use it to avoid any problems we have with your edits in the future. It helps everybody.

To discuss the topic at hand, the definition of slang according to the Cambridge Dictionary is a "very informal language that is usually spoken rather than written, used especially by particular groups of people", as well as "very informal language that is used esp. in speech by particular groups of people and which sometimes includes words that are not polite." I don't understand how taking the literal definition of the word removes its status as slang. Shook is informal and used mainly by gen z according to our sources. TheWikiToby (talk) 02:17, 6 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It's not "Zoomer" slang, it's slang from the Hip-Hop community that is now frequently used by Gen Z. It's just like how most of "Gen Z" slang is really AAVE or Black American slang. However, due to the internet and less segregation, the vocabulary is joining the mainstream Freee Contributor (talk) 11:02, 6 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
