File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Motor trend 73.jpg.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 09:28, 20 February 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Valley2city 09:28, 20 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for File:Vega vert a pak.jpg}

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Vega vert a pak.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Speedy deletion of File:Delorean 1971.jpg

[edit]
A tag has been placed on File:Delorean 1971.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:File:Delorean 1971.jpg|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. ww2censor (talk) 14:49, 26 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for File:Vert a pak Shipping Train.jpg}

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Vert a pak Shipping Train.jpg.

Additionally, if you continue uploading bad images, you may be blocked from uploading. STBotI (talk) 05:01, 1 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your uploads

[edit]

Good day. I see that you have uploaded a number of images to Wikipedia. First off, thank you for your contributions. Unfortunately, there are some guidelines that we need to follow with copyrighted images. Specifically, you need to add a source for the image (a link to a website will do), a copyright tag (there are some listed at WP:ICT), and a rationale explaining why we can use a copyrighted image (explained at WP:NFURG). I see that your images fail to include one of these. Please stop uploading images and address the concerns listed above. If you need assistance, you can ask at the help desk. If you do not fix these images, and you continue to make bad uploads, you will be blocked and your images will be deleted. Thanks for your contributions! File source problem with File:Vega vert a pak train.jpg

[edit]
File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Vega vert a pak train.jpg.

If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 00:48, 5 March 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ww2censor (talk) 00:48, 5 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (Image:The first Vega built.jpg)

[edit]
⚠
Thanks for uploading Image:The first Vega built.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. ww2censor (talk) 03:43, 11 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:1964 Corvair Monza.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:1964 Corvair Monza.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 04:06, 13 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Tag removal

[edit]

stop Please do not remove image issue tags without addressing the concerns first. You need to state your concerns on the talk page, try to contact the users who placed the tag on the image, and alter the fair use rationale in order to address these concerns. Repetitively removing tags such as these is disruptive. Please follow basic image policies, and be careful how you use copyrighted content in the future (see WP:NFC). An uninvolved administrator will review the image shortly.-Andrew c [talk] 23:46, 17 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:71 Chevrolet Vega Hatchback Coupe.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ww2censor (talk) 02:54, 24 March 2009 (UTC)

Just to let you know that I recently copied the above image that you uploaded to Wikipedia over to WikiMedia Commons, the Wikimedia central media repository for all free media. Orphaned non-free media (File:1971 Vega GT ad.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:1971 Vega GT ad.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:03, 27 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you are the copyright holder, you have nothing to worry about - just go over to the PUF page and assert that you have copyright on the images. The burden of proof is on the person submitting the report to prove that the images are unfree, not on you to prove that you are innocent. — neuro(talk)(review) 23:52, 30 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:75 Cosworth Vega.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by STBotI. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. A tag has been placed on File:Car and Driver Vega GT -0.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia, because it appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion. If you can indicate how it is different from the previously posted material, place the template {{hangon}} underneath the other template on the article and put a note on the page's discussion page saying why this article should stay. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. If you believe the original discussion was unjustified, please contact the administrator who deleted the page or use deletion review instead of continuing to recreate the page.

Reposting an image that already has been deleted at Wikipedia:Files for deletion is not acceptable. You have already been blocked for similar behavior. —teb728 t c 18:44, 7 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:72 vega.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Musamies (talk) 04:47, 10 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Magazine ads

[edit]

Greetings. I commented at Wikipedia:Files for deletion/2009 April 7#71 Chevrolet Vega Ad-Promo.jpg, and I thought you'd be interested to know that this and most other magazine ads from before 1978 are actually in the public domain. This isn't widely known. I support the addition of public domain images to Wikipedia, and I'm quite willing to help you determine if a given image is PD or not. Let me know if you have any troubles with images or need any help. – Quadell (talk) 12:26, 10 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at User talk:Ww2censor, you will be blocked from editing. I told you not to vandalise my talk page. ww2censor (talk) 14:31, 10 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Writing a clear message on a talk page is not vandalism, and Vegavairbob will not be blocked for doing so. On the other hand, Vega, once Ww2censor makes clear that he doesn't want to communicate with you, you should probably stop trying to talk with him. – Quadell (talk) 21:54, 10 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Recent PD claims

[edit]

You recently changed the tagging of several images to PD—perhaps in response to Quadell’s comments above about magazine ads. I fear you may be confused by those comments. Notice that he did not say that everything published before 1978 is PD.

Some of the images (File:71 Chevrolet Vega Hatchback Coupe.jpg, File:71 Vega sedan.jpg, File:71 Vega Panel Express-red.jpg, File:71 Chevrolet Vega Kammback Wagon.jpg) are photos of individual cars. These have no indication of a source. They may be PD, but they need a detailed source so that the PD claims can be verified. I have tagged them {{di-no source}}, which is a "speedy" deletion tag.

Some other images (File:Road Test mag. 74 Vega LX.jpg, File:Chevrolet promo poster -2 from 1973.jpg, File:Chevrolet promo poster from 1973.jpg) are magazine covers. Notice that as Quadell says at Wikipedia:Files for deletion/2009 April 7#71 Chevrolet Vega Ad-Promo.jpg, the magazines themselves are copyrighted. The fact that Chevrolet reprinted the covers does not negate those copyrights. I fear that your change to a PD claim may create copyright violations. —teb728 t c 22:59, 11 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • The Road Test, Motor Trend, and Car and Driver images are Chevrolet Dealer sales folders, which are public domain before 1978. I checked with Quadell first. he said Chevrolet brochures are also public domain before 1978. These are not magazine covers as the covers of these magazines but did not feature the Vega on the Covers of the actual magazines, but contained the article. The images on the covers of these dealer handouts are the same images contained in Vega brochures, except the Road Test folder which features an image from the article. They are reprints off the articles originally published by the mags and re-printed by Chevrolet, and were distributed at Chevy dealers as a brochure. They are folders, which means they are only two pages. Check closely at the Chevrolet folder titled Road Test. That one says reprint on the top, but all three are reprints by Chevrolet. There are others I haven't uploaded that feature the actual mag cover. Buick did the same thing for the Opel Manta in the '72 and used the actual mag cover for their folder-'72 car and driver Super Coupes with the Opel Manta rated first. That's why Buick reprinted that one. This is still done with auto companies reprinting articles into two-page folders of test articles of their products as sales handouts.

OK, how about File:DeLorean and Vega in 1971.jpg then? Isn’t that “NY Times-NY Times Archives 2005 copyright New York Times”? —teb728 t c 18:59, 12 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The three photos in this revised file were released by Chevrolet in 1970 as part of a public relations press folder. Similar situation as the Motor Trend magazine issuing the Chevrolet ad. (Times doesn't hold the copyright) The photos were issued by the Times many years later as public domain images. The source of these three photos is Chevrolet, and were first issued in 1970 by Chevrolet public relations. I incorrectly listed the Times as copyright holder and source on the original file. As they were first issued by Chevrolet before 1978, I have added the correct copyright tag and source on this reduced size version. (VegavairbobVegavairbob (talk))

Fastback

[edit]

I see you reverted to the forced break that I removed. In my browsers (Firefox, Opera, Safari) it leaves too much space ahead of the next section, is inconsistent with the article's other section breaks (which conform to normal WP practice), and therefore upsets the layout of the page. Does it look correct in your browser? Writegeist (talk) 22:11, 21 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed it again (and also the previous, and now similarly redundant, forced break at the end of the previous section) for the reasons already given and restated in the edit summary. You will see in F3 that the breaks between sections are now consistent, and the picture of your car still aligns correctly with the section text. In other words, an improvement. I hope it's agreeable to you. Writegeist (talk) 22:38, 21 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

L4

[edit]

Ill bet those people who dont anything about cars dont know what L4 is , its not even mentioned in Straight-four engine article. If its name for engine its different thing but then you should write something like Duke 150 CID L4 (2,3L straight-4 engine).

Ok I-4 then (inline-4) is proper, and your right L-4 is generically not used as much.Vegavairbob (talk) 18:43, 27 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
All text was written with (ex.) 2.3 liter inline-4. only captions were L-4 (which is the same as I-4). I switched the captions to I-4 which should be easily identified with "inline-4" used in all of the text. (I-4 is only used in captions). straight-4 was never, past or present, used to identify this engine. Straight-4 engine is rarely used for any vehicle, Article name should be changed to Inline-four engine and in text sometimes referred to as Straight-four. (article says sometimes referred to as inline-4) Vegavairbob (talk) 22:50, 27 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
If you want make proposal to article name change put following to article talk page {{rename|here comes the new name}} , then it should be discussed on that talk page
I changed the tag to {{movereq|Inline-four engine}}, hope its now right... --Typ932 T·C 23:21, 28 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

For myself, I use 'Show preview' many times during edits and always as a double check of my work before I hit the 'Save page' button. Cheers. Stepho-wrs (talk) 23:39, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"Vega" vs "The/the Vega"

[edit]

You might want to go through the Vega article and change to the latter style if it's not already done so. It scans much better in English. Omitting it makes it sound like you are referring to Vega from Street Fighter instead. Exxolon (talk) 17:59, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks I did that but in sentences like Vega's engine is.....sounds better than The Vega's engine is. plus it adds a little variety instead of the vega, the vega repeated the same way every sentence. (but i always use the when) The Vega has a nice .... instead of Vega has a nice....Vegavairbob (talk) 18:07, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Checking in

[edit]

Hi Bob, sorry I haven't been around much in the past few days. It does look like things have been escalating a little lately, but it appears you have largely managed to keep your cool. I wrote a rather long (for me) thread at ANI regarding what has been going on, I hope you get a chance to read it. I wont reiterate what I said there, accept to say that assuming good faith is the best solution and to ask that you thoughtfully consider what is written at WP:OWN. I realize that you are seeing a stressful and aggravating side of Wikipedia right now, but I hope you can understand that it is easy to get through it and back to the enjoyable side. Please let me know if there is anything I can do or if you have any questions at all, I will try and check my watchlist as much as I can in the next couple of days. --Leivick (talk) 21:25, 1 July 2009 (UTC

I have pretty much had enough. I can't find your post.Vegavairbob (talk) 23:32, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
My comment is the second one in the "update" subsection. Basically I agreed that there were ownership issues, but asked that other editors look at the situation from your perspective (if you still can't find it, let me know). By the same token, I would ask you to look at the situation from the perspective of the other editors. When I first edited the Vega article, making what I felt were pretty uncontroversial improvements, you reverted many of them and left a message on my talk page, basically telling me not to make these kinds of changes to the article. This sort of thing is what other editors are concerned about. I made a decision not to step on your toes, because I respect your contributions, however I warned you about what might be perceived as ownership issues and that other editors may not show this same kind of respect. I'm not surprised you have had enough, this ANI and the associated drama is really one of the worst aspect of Wikipedia (from the point of view of a contributor). However it will pass and we can move on to being more productive (in fact I would more or less consider the matter closed). Here is my advice which if you stick to will completely avoid this sort of problem in the future: If someone makes an edit to an article that you disagree with, don't revert it, don't post on their talk page, go straight to the article talk page and post a cogent argument against the change. Give it a couple of days and if you don't get a response go ahead and revert, pointing to the discussion on the talk page. Otherwise engage in a discussion with the editor who made the change, other editors will hopefully chime in and a consensus will emerge regarding whether the changes were an improvement or not. Next abide by the consensus, even if it is against you. If you follow this advice, the drama will evaporate. --Leivick (talk) 01:40, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I made two long comments in the discussion. Check them outVegavairbob (talk)

)

To second that, you definitely haven't been banned or restricted in any way. This was just a proposal (a bad one) from an uninvolved editor. I wouldn't worry about it, if you got banned over your actions to this point, I would quit right along with you. --Leivick (talk) 16:56, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You know, You really are a great guy. You made me feel better. They might restrict my edits in some way. There are a lot of things there to pick from.Vegavairbob (talk) 17:00, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
You edits wont be restricted unless the proposal gets consensus, which I highly doubt. I went to bed last night considering the matter closed. However someone came up with what is in my mind a rather ridiculous set of arbitrary restrictions and as of right now they are the only person supporting such actions. My advice is to take a couple of days off relax outside of Wikipedia and come back on the weekend. I will do my best to keep an eye on the discussion. --Leivick (talk) 17:07, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Dan- I made two seperate statements in the discussion after yours. Talk to you laterVegavairbob (talk) 00:20, 3 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. I liked all your comments..firm. I appreciate all of your help . I really got upset at comments that I should work with a chosen "mentor" and he was trying to say you weren't helping. That pissed me off most of all, and believe me I voiced it. I hate when people don't recieve the credit they deserve.Vegavairbob (talk) 05:16, 3 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Alright it looks like the ANI discussion has blown over (I hope for real this time), but that does not mean that every thing is back to the way it was before. I have been in the process of moving and starting a new job, so I have been around very little, however it doesn't seem as if my defense was able to penetrate as I was accused of being some sort of partisan on your part. While I did defend you, it is also true that you did have ownership issues with Chevy Vega. What I would strongly urge, is taking up my proposal of 0 reverts at least for a month or so. This will prevent anyone from accusing you of ownership. To clarify exactly what this means: If someone edits a page, do not remove or alter their text unless it is obvious vandalism (as in addition of swear words or nonsense character strings). Instead discuss the problems with these changes on the talk page. I hope this experience hasn't turned you off to Wikipedia too much, it is a darker side of the process, but it is easily avoided. In the future, try to look at the situation from the perspective of the others involved and keep in mind that they are not out to get you, they are here for the same reasons you are to improve this encyclopedia. My biggest concern right now is that someone will bring these issues back to ANI in the future, if your ownership issues continue. If this happens you may be blocked, so it is imperative that you avoid ownership, both in action and in appearance. The best way to do this is by being courteous and using the the talk page. If someone does something in the future that upsets you particularly someone who was involved in this past ANI discussion, come to me before taking other actions, I may not be as available as I used to be, but I do check in just about every day. Do not post while angry, the nice thing about Wikipedia is that it is easy to not let your emotions get in the way of editing as you can simply step away from the computer and do something else for a bit and come back with a clear head. Do you think you can abide by my suggestions. --Leivick (talk) 18:35, 4 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Dan. There were four people accusing me of it. I tried to explain their contributions were not reverted, may altered as mistakes were made in some of those edits. I agree with you on your suggestion, howver if you read my comments I requested no restrictions but I will be careful. Scheinwerfermann reposted his changes again. I think it was a paste of his entire edit without a revert. There is stuff there I don't agree with like the closed sentence we worked on together he changed. I don't like it. Chevrolet was eliminated from all captions. Is this correct only because title of artile is Chevrolet (his reason) He eliminated my referenced quote in intro and reworded it. and more stuff. This was the edits I changed back that led to the complaint. Turns out his an editor> I thought he was an administrator the way he instructs. This started the other night when he lectured me on an article title change discussion I requested Straight-Four I called him out on it that it ruined the discussion. He went right to the Vega article, made his changes, then I changed someback. Then the complaint was started. He went back in yesterday an reposted all changes again. I'd like a few changed back. Now if he's allowed to have all his changes in and I can't changes any changes, that is like reverse ownership. I have to be afraid of not touching anything he does? I said in one of my statements that it should be a compromise, meaning not all somebody's changes should have to stay..what's wrong with a compromise. I'd like you to please read all of my comments, although defensive, you will see my feelings on some editing issues, then we can talk about the changes.Vegavairbob (talk) 19:37, 4 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Here is what I think you should do regarding the Vega article. Go to the talk page a post a clear itemized list of the changes you take issue with, trying to be as concise as possible. Hopefully those that made the changes will come to the table and we can all discuss the what is best for the article and come to a compromise that is agreeable to all parties. I strongly advise not reverting the changes at this point. What you want to avoid at all cost is any sense that you are trying to exert control over the article. In my experience with situations like these the harder you push, the harder the other party pushes back which just results in a big mess for all involved. I will be happy to go over the issues that you raise on the talk page and help work towards a compromise. --Leivick (talk) 20:55, 4 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I wasn't planning on touching it, as a repeat will start. Ok. I'll make the list by Sunday night. Happy 4th.Vegavairbob (talk) 21:32, 4 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Image "deletion"

[edit]

Vegavairbob, you're not getting off to a good start now you're back from your break. I didn't delete any image of yours, I improved Bumper (automobile) with a composite image considerably more illustrative of the subject matter than the one you'd inserted. That's article improvement, and deleting it because it's not your image is ownership behaviour. If you feel your image is better, discuss it on Talk:Bumper (automobile) and participate in the consensus-building process. —Scheinwerfermann T·C13:48, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm glad to see that you are back, but not glad to see edit warring. You absolutely must use the talk page rather than reverts otherwise, you may well be blocked. What I really was hoping is that you would return and continue adding content and improving articles, rather than butting horns with the same people. Let's try starting again and come to me before engaging in conflict. --Leivick (talk) 20:03, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Vega, Could I offer some advice that has worked for me? There are a lot of auto articles besides the GM stuff you are currently working on that, although they need help, are not as deserving of your attention. What is happening is you seem to be attracting the attention of "editors" and I use that term very liberally, in that they don't contribute and find themselves rewording articles for their own self gratification. You are on their "radar" and you need to find something that they know little about. Find a subject that you'd like to know more about and work on those articles that need attention. Most of the Wiki Auto Project cars are crawling with "fanboys" who think they know every thing there is to know, and as you have experienced, have a combined IQ of 2 and need 3 to grunt.
For instance, see if their are cars that are sold in Latin America or Africa from the car companies that need work, or work on an unrelated subject. Leave the detroit cars to the trolls and work on one other subject. Learn from what you find and contribute when necessary.(Regushee (talk) 00:11, 11 July 2009 (UTC))[reply]

I have reviewed your tendentious edits to a number of articles, most recently at Bumper (automobile), with the apparent intent of inserting images and content specifically relating to the Chevrolet Vega without reference to the views of other editors. I note that you have been approached on numerous occasions to discuss your edits, which when you have responded to has been in an adversarial manner. I am disappointed to note that you have also edited whilst not logged in to perform the same edits, in what appears to be an effort to disassociate this account with a continuing content dispute. Unless you make efforts to conform with the consensual and collegiate practices of contributing to Wikipedia you will likely find that, notwithstanding the excellent material provided, that your account will be further sanctioned. I noticed that another account User:60chevman has appeared and is editing very similar articles to you. I really hope this isn't you attempting to evade the block. If it is you will need to come clean about it and make assurances that you will not attempt to do so again (you block will also probably be reset), keep in mind that a check user will likely be able to figure out if this is a sock puppet account. If it isn't you then disregard. I hope that after your block expires you will be able to return to editing productively. --Leivick (talk) 18:47, 12 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I realize that this page may be your "baby", but you need to stop using so many edits to correct slight problems. Take the entire page to the sand box and work from there. Courteous editing

[edit]
I must say I really like the edits you've been making; the article's definitely getting better. One technique I find very helpful in cases where there's a lot of work to be done is to hit [b]Edit[/b], select all the text in the edit window, copy it, paste it into a text editor, and work on it at my leisure offline, outside of Wikipedia space. This not only avoids edit conflicts, but also avoids the risk that a hiccup in your browser, your internet connection, Wikipedia's servers or something else will spoil your work. Then once you've got everything done, copy everything out of your text editor, go back to the edit window in Wikipedia, replace all the old text with your edited text, hit "Preview", make whatever changes, and you're all set. I find this method helps me cut down on the number of sequential edits I make in cases where an article is still on the uphill side of the development curve. The only caution is that if you use Microsoft Word, turn off it's "helpful" (yuck) automatic formatting that replaces straight quotes with curly ones and so on, and save and work on the document as plain text rather than MS Word format. —Scheinwerfermann T·C03:36, 7 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well thank you for the compliment and the tips!! Vegavairbob (talk) 04:07, 7 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The fix is simple: Hit Edit on the article in question, select all text in the edit window, create a new subpage on your userpage (e.g., User:Vegavairbob/Economy car, dump the text there, and edit it for hours or days at a time, at your leisure. Once you've made all the edits you intend to make for any given time period — please try a whole day as a starting interval — then go ahead and update the actual article text all in one edit, being careful to check first for any worthwhile edits by others and incorporate them with your own contributions, still as part of the one edit. This really is the best way to do it on an article that needs a lot of work and on which relatively few people are editing, such as Economy car. It does not work well on an article on which many people are editing at a rapid pace, for then it grows too difficult to incorporate your consolidated edits with those of others.
Thanks for the barnstar! —Scheinwerfermann T·C04:29, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sunbird formatting reply

[edit]

I certainly don't know of any policy against or discouraging lining up content with infoboxes. It puts the infoboxes next to the relevant material and also improves the formatting of some images (as it did in the Sunbird case). It's possible that your edit was reverted by mistake or because you didn't do it quite right. IFCAR (talk) 15:27, 30 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Working Articles

[edit]

Hi Bob, I got a chance to take a look at the articles you are working on, my schedule has actually been surprisingly busy despite not having any more school work. They look great, obviously vastly improved. My only tips would be to avoid conversational tone in the language. For the most part the articles are fine, but both the Vega and the Bel Air pages contain a couple of sentences that would be more at home in a car magazine rather than an encyclopedia. I would be happy to point out which lines I am referring to or make the changes if you like. Second, the lead paragraphs could all use some expansion. A good lead will hit on all the major points in the article. I noticed someone tried to add something to the lead of the Vega page the other day discussing its current reputation, while the wording might not have been perfect, I do feel that the reliability issues should probably be covered in the first couple of paragraphs, because, frankly this is what the car is currently best known for. What the user added was not vandalism and it really isn't ok to refer to it as such. Otherwise, your work looks excellent, keep it up and let me know if you need any help at all. --Leivick (talk) 01:23, 19 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fastback

I think we need some more days/votes more as the template says "a clear consensus for the page move is reached, please move the article and remove this notice, or request further assistance." so lets wait couple of days and see what coming..;) --Typ932 T·C 20:00, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Vegavairbob. If you will go and take a look at Talk:Inline-four engine, you'll see that your move proposal was adopted. Please read the closing admin's comments at the top of the archived discussion, and you'll see that the process worked exactly as it was meant to: a proposal was presented, there were reactions and discussion, discussion and debate, more reactions, people expressed their preferences (these are referred to as !votes because we don't vote here; Wikipedia is not a democracy), an admin came along and reviewed the whole discusion — see how it wasn't just a simple tally of "support" and "oppose" !votes — and from the discussion determined and acted on the consensus will of the community. From this you can also see that everyone involved, everyone who participated in the discussion and cast a !vote and everything had the betterment of the encyclopædia in mind. Nobody was trying to oppose you simply because they didn't like you or for other spurious reasons, including me; the proposal was weighed on its merits. The system worked exactly as it is meant to. I hope you will be able to consider this an object lesson in how this community-based project works in a coöperative fashion. —Scheinwerfermann T·C23:43, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
