Re-written and re-submitted after removing any content that could be seen as promoting. Barkenstein (talk) 22:05, 22 February 2010 (UTC)

[edit]That is, I'm afraid, pure promotion as it stands. 'We' and 'our' say promotion straight away. The whole tone and style is 'brochure'. It is also a copyright violation of http://www.bbcamp.org/ and thus liable to deletion on those grounds. If you are setting up an article on the camp, you must not use copyright text - even if you wrote it - without releasing copyright under the things in blue just below one of these posting boxes. You must also show notability for the camp with reliable independent references. And please see WP:USER which tells you what user pages are for - and what they are not for. I've not retagged yet - but will have to if that copyright text stays there. Peridon (talk) 19:09, 23 February 2010 (UTC)
Thank you for the update. I am trying to find how to add the copyright from the site to the page - will that solve the posting as it stands? This is the first time I have tried to create 'new' content. Forgive my ignorance. Barkenstein (talk) 19:30, 23 February 2010 (UTC)
- No - you MUST use the procedures in the blue bits in "By saving, you agree to irrevocably release your contribution under the Creative Commons Attribution/Share-Alike License 3.0 and the GFDL. You agree to be credited by re-users, at minimum, through a hyperlink or URL to the page you are contributing to. See the Terms of Use for details." down below. Also, it won't solve the problem of the actual wording. It is not encyclopaedic. Look at WP:NPOV and at various random articles. Then look at yours again. You might not be intending it to be, but it reads as advertising not encyclopaedia. All in all, it could be easier to rewrite avoiding the spammy phrases. And GET REFERENCES....... To avoid...
[edit]Striving and things like "Creating lifelong friendships and memories since 1921, B'nai B'rith Camp provides safe, nurturing and fun experiences". That's not encyclopaedic. Those things look spammy. I'm not tagging it - yet. Remember that articles are best written by people who do not work for organisations that are the subject. Pretend you are nothing to do with the camp. Not easy. Look at other articles - if you find one that reads like yours tell me... If they seem a little cool and very neutral, that's what you should aim for. Peridon (talk) 22:21, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
- INDEPENDENT REFERENCES - not just the camp website.... Peridon (talk) 22:22, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
We don't seem to be progressing here, so a tag has been placed on the above page requesting the its speedy deletion on the grounds that it is used for promotion only. If you wish to contest this, please use the hangon tag. Peridon (talk) 17:27, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
