The Artist’s Garden at Giverny

[edit]
By this time, he was analysing what he saw more and more until, according to William Seitz, "subject, sensation and pictorial object have all but become identical".

Strangely, this passage reminded me of a quote from Star Trek: Discovery: “At the quantum level, there is no difference between biology and physics.” :) Viriditas (talk) 20:50, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Draft:Dennis Opresko

[edit]

Hi. I moved Dennis Opresko to Draft talk:Dennis Opresko so that you can get it into better shape before it enters article space. It needs multiple independent reliable sources with significant coverage of the subject. As it stands it has just one, primary, source. -Lopifalko (talk) 15:50, 30 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If or when these points have been taken care of, you may apply for a new nomination of the article. Your draft article, Draft:Dennis Opresko

[edit]

Hello, Aven13. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Dennis Opresko".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia! TheImaCow (talk) 14:27, 2 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you

I'm still on a wikibreak but I wanted to write a quick note of thanks for taking the time to peer review Lord Goff of Chieveley. I'll be sure to incorporate your suggestions when I'm back. Much appreciated. Kohlrabi Pickle (talk) 15:31, 8 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sand cat

[edit]

Thanks for your support in making this page a GA !!! I'm very happy that finally one of the smaller cats got promoted. I'll perhaps tackle the black-footed cat next, the tiniest in Africa. But before, there a few other cats running across my desk that need attention. Cheers -- BhagyaMani (talk) 22:31, 9 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

AfD Nomination

[edit]

Hi, Aven13! I've nominated Dutch Ships in a Calm Sea for deletion, because I was unfortunately unable to find additional sources/information about it that would bring it to standards of general notability. If you disagree or wish to point me to such sources, please do let me know on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dutch Ships in a Calm Sea. WhinyTheYounger (talk) 15:30, 16 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I hope you're well. You had very kindly helped with a peer review for Lord Goff of Chieveley some time ago. It's now up at FAC here Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Robert Goff, Baron Goff of Chieveley/archive1, and could do with some additional comments. If you have the time, would you be willing to weigh in? It would be a big help. Kohlrabi Pickle (talk) 03:36, 23 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I thought I'd write to tell you that the article has been promoted to FA! Thank you for your help with the peer review and at FAC. :) Kohlrabi Pickle (talk) 15:05, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Black coral

[edit]

On 21 June 2020, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Black coral, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that when boiled in milk, black coral (example pictured) emits a faint scent of myrrh? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Black coral. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Black coral), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Izumo no Okuni

[edit]

Hello Aven13 -- I was looking through Women in Green's GA nominations for this year's project goals, and I realized that you have since withdrawn your earlier nomination of Izumo no Okuni. I can see some aspects of the article that could still be improved, but I don't think it's too far off from meeting GA standards. Would you be interested in a collaboration with me? I can find time to work on Okuni over the next couple of months, and we could nominate it together. Let me know! Alanna the Brave (talk) 15:04, 27 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Alanna the Brave: I'm glad that you want to work on it, and if you can find any information, I would certainly welcome a collab. But I think the fundamental issue with the article is that there just isn't enough hard info on her to make a substantive article. I scraped together as many details about her as I could, but those are from sources that are not the most reliable ("Guitar atlas of the world" and a tourism site called "Yabai".) Too many details about her are shrouded in legend. Be aware that while working on this article, sources will constantly be an issue. If you still want to collab that's great, and I certainly welcome the opportunity!
(I'm aware that this sounds sort of callous I'm sorry I don't know how to write gently)
Not callous at all -- I definitely agree the sources need work (and legendary figures are tricky). I think I can get access to some more book and academic article sources, which should bolster the article a bit. How about I work on the content/sourcing for the next few weeks, and then you can take a look and help with copy edits/proofing, etc? Alanna the Brave (talk) 18:10, 28 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Alanna the Brave: Sure! Sounds great. I look forward to working with you.

Unblock Request for School-sanctioned laptop

[edit]
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Aven13 (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

I'm a small time editor of Wikipedia, but my contributions aren't nothing. It says that the IP for the laptop I do my editing from has been blocked from editing. It is a school-issued laptop, and I suspect that this is a school-wide block to discourage vandalism. I've had this same laptop for a few years, and it would be nice if this one IP address could be unblocked. See my contributions for proof that I did not vandalize (In fact, I haven't edited in a while.) Aven13 17:05, 25 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Procedural decline only. You forgot to tell us your IP address so we can't investigate your claim. You can find this using WhatIsMyIP. If you don't wish to provide this publicly, you may use WP:UTRS to provide the IP address privately. Yamla (talk) 19:13, 25 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

@Yamla: IP address is 208.67.142.98.

The block on that IP address will not prevent you from editing, so long as you sign in with your account. Note if you've been using a proxy or a vpn recently, you need to turn it off and wait 24 hours. If you are still unable to edit, you are being affected by a block on a different address and will need to exactly follow the instructions which appear when you attempt to edit, so we can find the block that is affecting you. --Yamla (talk) 20:18, 26 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
